Springfield, Ohio was all over the news for claims of dog & cat eating Haitian migrants, after welcoming 20,000 immigrants in recent years. A much smaller town in Pennsylvania has also received a huge immigration spike, with the population growing by 50% since 2020. So I went to the Mon Valley, explored the poor, dying, almost abandoned town, and chatted with some locals and recent immigrants to hear their opinions and stories.
Many communities in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Massachusetts are experiencing a large influx of immigrants. Is your town next? And do locals think it's a net positive or negative for the community?

I am a legal immigrant who came to the U.S. with my wife and child two years ago. From day one, both my wife and I have been working. In these two years, my child has learned English. I live in a small town in Pennsylvania. And you know what? I’m amazed by the number of Americans living around me who don't do anything. They just sit on benches drinking beer. Their kids run around, they yell at them, and some even resort to physical punishment right there in the open, without any shame.
This isn’t some troubled neighborhood; it's a good area with a good school. I work here as an engineer, and my wife is a dog groomer.
To my American neighbors, please don't take offense, but in these two years I've been here, it's often been the locals who seem the least well-mannered-though I don't mean everyone, of course. This is just my personal experience. But if you want to improve the community around you, the change must start with yourselves. God bless America
I think there is no denying that many immigrants are prepared to work harder than some locals. BUT - the issue is crime. There is also a large population of immigrants who are simply criminals. No-one wants Venezuelan gangs living in their neighbourhood. Many people aren't against immigration, they're against ILLEGAL immigration/open border/Walk right in concept! Plus the housing given to them, free stuff, and their inability to drive.

27:10 About two months ago, a wonderful Haitian immigrant ran into a telephone pole in front of that martial arts center causing about $20,000 worth of damage to the electrical system. They've been struggling to acquire the funds to reopen since those wonderful Haitian immigrants that some of the people here love so much don't pay for nor are insured against their mistakes.
Guess what? About 3 weeks ago an american hit and k**d a family of 3 with the car he was renting and doesn't have a way to pay for damages to the reaming family. Thankfully the government is reporting him. Tell your people to stop coming here.

@@marcusg6904 Umm, those people were arrested and charged for the damage they caused, well, except for Ray Epps, he wasn't charged. The taxes Haitians pay would go toward fixing the Capital Building as well. During the BLM Riots, none of those individuals were charged as well, there weren't Haitians involved with that either.

I’m from this area. I used to work in the big white building you were talking about. The one you didn’t know what it was. It was the Charleroi Elks club. Very historical building.

I live a few miles away. It's really not a bad place. The Corelle plant just announced yesterday, that it was closing I believe in February 2025. Sad news for the otherwise generally happy town.

He underpays them and signs them up for welfare while stuffing them 20 to 30 into houses he owns; houses that formerly held four. There was no "nonsense coming out of Donald Trump". If anything, he understated it.

I think his intentions were to get anti-immigrant viewers’ attention and then have them watch a video that shows what’s actually going on (and that the fear mongering is baseless and stupid).
The video itself explains many times that the community seems to be improving since the influx of immigrants and even has a fact check on the process of what it’s like to get a green card.
