Good stuff on building and restoring the EVO👍
The EVOs stock axles can handle a lot of power!!!

I noticed at around 12mins when you started reassembling the joint the groove the snap ring sits in was at the top of the splined hole. Unless there is a groove on the other side then I would say it was in the wrong way round. I’ve taken loads of CV joints apart and I’ve never had to lever or chisel them. They normally have a spot where you can get the process started without having to use any force.

Great content as always. But I would use Diesel fuel over gasoline. To all you young mechanics out there, wear gloves when working with chemicals, greases, fuel and cleaners!!!!

nice, looks new, always comforting knowing we have new/rebuilt/upgraded parts on a car, makes the cars feel like new

A better term is: refreshed axle. For my sake hope you used a soft metal punch, like brass, or aluminium when you hammered those balls in. I would replace boots anyway if you pulled those axles from the car, but it is just me. As always it was a nice video!

Hi Devin, have you ever thinking about the swapping the A/C unit on evo8 for electronic JDM/EUDM HVAC control unit? That would be a sick tutorial to watch step by step. Not yet seen on YT. Very good job so far btw 👌

Would love to see either yourself or Josh do a 2JZ or RB26 swap in an STI. Whichever works out best to keep the all-wheel drive system or use drivetrain from R32-R34 to push a button go from rear wheel drive to AWD would be absolutely sick!

I asked my ex-wife to put oil in my VW Beetle while I was working. She poured oil on the outside of the engine. That night on my way home, the engine blew up. lol Just reminded me of when you said put the grease in the right place this time. lol

Just bought an Evo x gsr 2015. I have this weird rachet sound coming Mainly from the driver side front wheel, slight sound from the other side. Car has 47k miles, changed the tires and balanced the wheels, alignment done and got the brakes inspected and reinstalled. Brakes are clean and still have a lot of life left according to the mechanic. After all that, still has the sound. It starts to be noticable at 20mph or higher, kinda goes away when stepping on the brakes but I don't really feel any feed back on the pedal, very slight if there is. Thinking it could tbe joints or wheel bearing...but I dont know for sure. It's sounds like those plastic spinny ratchet toys, it doesn't sound metallic. Ratchet sound varies and speed and it's affected when stepping on brakes.

Don’t swap the series grey because there are lighter trim models to choose from. Like maybe look for a wrx/Sri without a sunroof for example… and in the long run that car could become your drag build that you and bader built were talking about in the last video

  • @osirisblaster

Is it ok to put grease in the axle like that?
I was under the impression that you had to pack INTO the bearings, not just put grease around it.

The only way to remove the shaft with the c clip it's to smash it and force it to go out ? to have a complete part out of the cv axles ... I'm right there right now on mine. Thanks for your confirmation
