Yesterday afternoon, the signing ceremony of the agreement on the operation and maintenance of Kampot International Tourist Port between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and AZ Builders Co., Ltd. (AZ Builders Co., Ltd.).
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Public Works and Transport, a representative of the Royal Government, and Tycoon Lim Bunsour, CEO of AZ Builders Co., Ltd.
This agreement aims to give investment operational rights to companies able to manage, operate and maintain Kampot International Tourist Port.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Peng Po Na said at the signing ceremony of the Kampot International Tourism Port Development Project Agreement that the port construction process was initially controlled by the Ministry of Tourism and started construction on August 8. 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in February 2020, but due to technical reasons, the construction process has been delayed.
To speed up the construction of the port, the Royal Government has assigned the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to manage the technical, budget and construction work to implement the project, which was completed on June 30, 2022. Completed infrastructure includes: docks, administration building, passenger terminal, technical building, 2.40 km concrete access road to the port, electricity, clean water, fences, checkpoints, port area, parking lot, park, pond, landfill. And equip some necessary equipment to ensure the operation of the port.
Mr. Peng Porna also expressed his optimism that through the signing of the agreement with AZ Builders Co., Ltd will cooperate well with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and relevant ministries to implement this agreement more effectively for the benefit. Of the nation in general and the interests of the company in particular.
Kampot International Tourism Port is an important international gateway for connecting tourists from other countries with Cambodia and facilitating the travel of tourists between the port and the islands.
