Just a little further south Shaun, on the south side of Sarasota is a beach that is consistently rated in the top 5 beaches in the world...Siesta Key Beach. If you think our beaches are white then you really need to see Siesta Key Beach, it is the softest, whitest sand you will find anywhere. It is 99% quartz from the Appalachian Mountains, it is very soft and powdery and stays very cool to the touch. Some say its like powdered sugar. Glad to see you made to my neck of the world, next time we should meet up for a pint somewhere. Im about i hour south of St. Pete by an exclusive and beautiful island known as Boca Grande.

It’s not the fish you need to worry about, it’s the Man o’ War jellyfish to watch out for. They float on the water and have a clear, blueish, inflated sack they use as a float/sail and very long tentacles. Not many in the gulf but often found in the Fla Keys. They can either scar or kill a person. Even bits of them broken up on the beach can still sting! You’ll know one when you see it (and you’ll definitely see it!) We don’t have those tiny, deadly box jellyfish found in Australia, fortunately.

Yes, despite the moniker of the Sunshine State, that rainy day you had is normal. Florida is a sub-tropical climate in the northern part of the state and a tropical climate in the southern part.. It does rain here a lot, especially in the summer months. You can pretty much count on at least some afternoon rainfall most days. It’s also not really fully summer here in May. It’s felt pretty perfect this month actually. July and August are the hottest months. Also, Gulf water is warmer further north…further from the ocean. I much prefer the Gulf Coast side to the Atlantic one. The sugar white, powdery sand is so pretty. Although it does get everywhere and, much like glitter, you can’t get rid of it completely. I just found some in the trunk of my car from last summer.

It's not sunny every single day in Florida. It is a tropical region so yes they do get some rain. Most days are sunny and it depends on the time of year❤

Madeira Beach!, you were literally 4 minutes from our place. Should have stopped by for a few beers.

Clearwater and Tampa area are very popular and extremely beautiful. If you want to see white sand, go to Destin, FL. Looks like baby powder there and it's very fine sand. More beautiful than where you are now and not as crowded. It's May. The water is not going to be super warm. Just wait until July and come back to HOT, HOT, HOT and steamy, humid weather.

We usually hit up the e
Emerald Coast when visiting FL(typically Destin) and the summer sunsets are always so beautiful from the beaches. Every time I witness it, the same thoughts you had about it being so relaxing and enjoyable start creeping in. I don't think I've vacationed there once without daydreaming of moving there some day. Glad you were able to enjoy it. Great video!

An embassy at the Beach? That’s funny. Also, Florida is the lightening capital of the world. Often a late afternoon shower in the summer. I’m from the Jacksonville side, and always heard the sand on the west coast is much whiter than the east side.

Cracked me up when Teka pointed out that you were the same color as the sand! 😂

Until the Hurricanes come through. Get outta Florida during that season. Definitely come up to Boston then. My name is Scott Cameron Forbush by the way lol I've lived in the USA my whole life.

I love St Pete/Clearwater area. Four of the best years of my life were spent there!
