I lucked out my slip rings both split in 1991 10 years after it was bought new and lincoln still carried the new rings and brushes. I was able to get them and replace them. The welder still runs and welds.
if you look at part 2 of my vid theres a guy who posted on it yesterday that worked full time with them, he may be a better suited to answer it, but l do believe that its a tapered shaft motor so it will need a puller most likely to split them apart,,
@HappyScrappy47 the small lift that the welder is on is a handy lift with extentions that I made, the car lift is from the 70s and came from a mercedies shop that was updating there stuff about 15 years ago,I used the same style when I worked at a vw shop while in high school so kinda liked that setup, there is a tag on it will get the name if you like,
@GatheringSticks the slip rings apply power to the center then that in turn exites the field to create the power, or at least its something like that, I knew that I had parts for it thats why I popped on it,
Hey mustie1 I watch your videos daily and you sir are amazing the things you bring back to life are cool I can’t believe that you only have 298k followers you deserve in the millions a lot of people can learn shit loads from your channel especially where we live in a throw away society nowadays I love repairing old usable stuff if you can fix it reuse it keep the videos coming god bless
I bought one of those Lincoln's 15 horsepower Briggs on it. I believe it's called weldanpower I will land on the pipeline with it it was such a good machine think I bought it and run 1980 I could smoke a 3/16 rod. Plus if you reverse the cables and went to straight polarity you could also weld Tig
if your machine has points then yes put a new set of points and condensor, you could get by with cleaning but the condensors will go bad just from age, and if it has points then the wire to the coil has to be on as it is the on off signal to the coil to make spark,
I emailed Lincoln, and they told me they still sell the slip rings for the weld and power, i have a 150 model, i recall they emailed me back with who had them in my area and said they were $14 per ring, at the time, you should email lincoln,
This was very good. I have welder that has a problem, I think all four pistons are jammed in the cylinders, its a continental 140 engine, no spark plugs ! is it posible that you may have an engine for it ? The continental 140, may be not there , I am still looking for it. thanks for what you are doing it is good.
I have the same weldnpower I need a good starter to rebuild or just bolt on , what I really need is a good picture of the control panel. Then I will have my son make a decal of it hope you can help thanks
I have a welder just like the one you have, and the brass ring is completely missing, the carb needs to be rebuilt but it will try to start with starting fluid so that is promising. Anyway I am unable to locate parts for this unit...any suggestions? and wanted to say fantastic repair
I want to see a video on your small lift because it looks older then the cheap new ones. Also would like a video on your shop lift, I have seen lots of them but yours looks bolted to the floor?
Well I located the slip rings but I dont know how to go about getting the unit apart, I thought just removing the engine bolts would do the trick but that isnt working... I have looked for service manual but nada do you or anyone else know how to go about getting this unit apart, before I mess something up?
Can't fault that deal if you got the leads with it. Those things are high! I just got a Lincwelder 225 that I'm about to get into repairing. I don't think it needs much (hah!) but you never know -- do you? Nice vid. I may have to subscribe...
Lincoln 225 Welder / no spark: Yes sr. I did unplugged the wire from the coil, then l changed the coil n new spark but still no spark.!!.. im thinking l may have to clean n re-set the points on the condenser, but will it help?? If so at what range would l need to re-gap the points. Or better yet. Does it has a condenser at all?? Please help..anybody.. thanks yall
Come to think of it maybe was 16 horse instead of of 15 but it was a while back and a welding son of a b****. I welding 24in gas pipe with it 100% x-ray. My job is running beads and hot passes and it would smoke you can get a run you got a hell of a machine

This is vintage, Darren still has the Mustang.

im not sure where to locate a ring but possibly a welder repair shop, as l think its a common failure as they get older,,
I recently bought that same welder. It too had the same problem. The inside ring cracked and moves.
I emailed Lincoln, and they told me they still sell the slip rings for the weld and power, i have a 150 model, i recall they emailed me back with who had them in my area and said they were $14 per ring, at the time, you should email lincoln,
I would like to see a quick vid on both of them operating !
