September/October is the absolute best time to visit Mainland Europe. I would suggest you fly into Paris and spend a weekend. Then get the train to Nice in the south of France (stay there for 4 days) and get the local train to all the beautiful costal towns for day trips (all about 20- 30 minutes by train). Then fly from Nice to Naples or Rome (Italy) I recommend visiting Florence (2/3days) , Venice. Then get a train from Naples to Sorento (Southern Italy). Definitely spend a week there. I would visit Croatia then and Slovenia (Lake Bled) it is incredible!!! Or even Budapest. If you put Greece in there on top of France and Italy its going to be EXPENSIVE (mainly due to flights) .

I just got back from being in Europe/the UK and have been to almost every place on your wish list. Here’s my advice: Plan your trips based on the map of Europe. Since you’re going to Croatia, you may as well do Greece and (maybe) Italy as they’re l close together. Save France, Spain and Portugal for another trip, and the UK for another. I spent a month travelling across Greece and still didn’t feel like it was enough. Spend at least 3 days everywhere. You don’t want to be exhausted and rush yourself. If I were planning the trip, I would do it like this: A week in Croatia, 10 days in Greece (Santorini and Milos, but go to Athens if you can), and 11 days in Italy (but pick 2 places on your list to go). Once you factor in travel days, time on buses/planes, having a couple of rest days, you’ll be grateful you didn’t rush around and go everywhere! PS - The best thing I did was a 7 day cruise in Greece! Really affordable and meant I saw 7 different islands in a really relaxed way.

Santorini is exactly what you see in a postcard. Absolutely beautiful but I maybe a little biased. I highly recommend paros and Milo's too beautiful islands. Don't waste your time with ios. Mykonos is nice but expensive and in October it will be much cooler. Rhodes has the old town with a castle. It's beautiful and yiu can cross to Turkey from there or other islands for a day. No worries. There isn't a ferry ride from either Santorini or Milo's. You'll need to go to main land Greece (Athens) and take the ferry from there for Turkey. If you were to go to Rhodes or Samos you could do a day trip to Turkey by ferry from those islands.
