The way he keeps looking at his mom ❤️ 🥰 We can trim only when they are sleeping. It has always been this way with all our cats. Sneaking up and talking calmly really works but if I show them the trimmer or try to hold them, we can’t succeed. Maybe some cats are feral for life 🤓

Just wanted to vouch for this technique! I’ve been doing this with my girl Bella since I first got her and it works every time! Just casually sit there with your cat in your lap, and gently hold the paws and it’s all done! Cats can be trained to do so many things if it’s done calmly and gently! I got Bella used to water and car rides early on so now if I need to bath her for whatever reason she’s chilled and she loves coming for car rides! 😍

I watched your videos, ordered a pair of trimmers and went for it. Just as straightforward as you show. You are so sweet with your fur baby! My vets is charging $15.00 per cat for nail trims. And, I hate taking them to the vets unless they are sick or are due their shots. I keep both of my fur babies in the house. I was able to trim my two kitties nails after watching your video. Thanks so much!

Thank you! I trimmed my cats nail in seconds! and she didn't even fight back. My in-law showed me to "Sock them" in other words wrap the cat in a blanket very tightly and do one paw at a time. I hated it and so did my cat, But I decided that there had to be an easier way both for my cat and me. God you're such a time saver, My cat took it like a champ and she got loads of praises and rubs afterwards! I really appreciate this method. My boyfriend was in shook lol

Quick tip: if your cat hates this, try distracting him. My one cat absolutely HATES when I trim his nails. The only way I can trim his claws is if I distract him so that he looks away from what I’m doing. I’ll have my girlfriend move a string around or something so that he can use his opposite paw of which I’m trimming to try and grab the string, all while I have his other paw in hand of which I can then push his claw out and trim without him making a fuss. This is the absolute only way I’ve been able to trim his claws. My other cat, he tolerates it like a champ. Great video.

I have my first boy cat and he is such an awesome man cat - he is docile and wild at the same time- I used to tease him and tell him that I was going to have to take him back if he didn’t quit being so wild and somewhat neurotic. But in my heart, I knew I couldn’t be without him- I knew that if I could just get through the first 6-9 months he would begin to grow out of that stage. And I was right! Charlie has the cutest randomly placed freckles and he just looks me straight in the eye like he was saying “mom, I don’t mean to be so wild and cute. It’s just who I am- I think I’ll grow out of it. “ He said “just love me through it”
I've had a bit of a struggle when it comes to trimming Cat Dennings' nails, so thank you. I didn't learn anything because I was too fixated on your hotness but I pinky swear to keep being the best cat dad I can. My buddy always gets 1st taste when I have grilled chicken, sushi or steak n she just interrupted my reply making muffins on my tummy 🥰 *fyi if anyone has a problem with my love for kitties you know what you can go and do
I just recieved the love of my 14 week old kitten, grabbing my arm with his razorsharp claws and biting and licking me! Funfact is that allthough I really felt it, he didn; t leave a scratch! He is so much in control of his claws and teeth! I decided he can maintain his claws by himself! Good scrathing posts and he will do the job, given how gentle he is with my skin. I allso like to see him climb. I am going to bring a log with bark in my room for scratching
I never had a problem trimming nails until this last 'batch' of cats. Once one complained, the other started complaining too. They learn from each other. If it is too difficult, I will content myself with trimming just one paw's worth, then maybe later the other paw; then maybe the next day getting one back foot; if I am lucky both back feet. If need be I do just one paw or foot a day. Trying when they have just awakened is a good time because mine tend to be the most relaxed then.
Thank you for making this. I just had to this with my cat. My dad threatened to declaw her after she scratched the couch. She has a scratching post but it’s old as hell. He won’t replace it. I don’t believe in declawing, it’s just cruel, so I’d rather do this.
Good for you that you are doing that for your kitty. Tell your dad it’s not declawing, it’s amputating their paws at the knuckle, which is why it is illegal in many countries and states in the US. You can buy cheap corrugated cardboard scratching boards (which cats LOVE) at the dollar tree for $1 or find the better quality version of them for $5 at Walmart. Tell your dad amputating the cats paws will cost him a lot more than buying scratching boards for the poor kitty. There should be multiple boards around the house, with some catnip sprinkled on them so the cat will always choose the scratching board over any furniture.

After it got my dad and made him bleed for several minutes, we've been given an Ultimatum to trim the nails immediately or rehome the cat. It also got me in the corner of the eye once running across the bed while I was laying down

I got a cat that has RAZOR sharp claws. Least little nick and you'll bleed and bleed. It got my dad a couple weeks ago(72 years old) and he bled for 30 minutes. Cat takes cheap swats while your walking by and the least little bit of contact will draw blood. My dad has issued an ultimatum where we have to get his claws trimmed or get rid of him. Thing is, I don't know how to get him to sit still long enough for it, he hates when people even touch his paws. He also jumped up on the bed and darted across ans caught me in the corner of my eye with a claw, kinda dangerous. We absolutely have to get his nails trimmed.
I'd love to see you try that with a cat that's never had its nails trimmed before. There's a whole lot of trust-building before a cat will let you hold it that way and trim its nails. The actual clipping isn't the hard part.
GalaxyGirl5 I personally don’t see the need to since he doesn’t tend to scratch me or my furniture with his back claws. If you want to trim your cat’s back claws, it would probably be best to lay them down flat on your lap and have someone else help hold them down 💕

If you have an adult cat who was stray for a long time, this video might not immediately help you. Start out sneaking trims while they're asleep, and do maybe 2 claws at a time. I've had my cat for a year, and she finally tolerates random pick ups. We try to get most of one paw at a time. She's gotten sassy with us now that she's comfortable enough to speak her mind, and will bite purely out of spite, lol. She's got toddler tantrum attitude now 😂 So just keep trying your best. We'll all figure it out together lol
If it touches the blood vessel and bleeds, it is a big thing. The cat will be in a lot of pain. The vets have said this too. Cats will hide their pain. But great video demonstrating how you do it and being patient.
How do I cut my cat's claws.....she immediately pulls her front paws away when I touch them ? I do have a hard time tricking her to get into her carrier ..to get nails done elsewhere...I was thinking about one of those aromatic fragrances to make cars chill
