    This is a great car. I’ve been restoring several VW’s during my life and I am 66 years old. Original rear bumper, generator, door handles, etc. To much to mention. The only detail that I found was the the 12 volts stickers at the pillar post are missing. The guy who is describing the car really knows what he is talking about. 67’s are unique. Who ever buy this car is getting a jewel.

    Mine was Zenith Blue. Bought August, 1967 for $1939.00 total. Options were radio, whitewall tires, leatherette upholstery and pop out rear windows.

    Truly stunning 67 there.
    I've purchased a numbers matching/1 owner (prior to me) all original 67 with patina after owner passed away in 91. Sitting in Southern California for those years with windows cracked allowed rain to set in pans that I had to repair. Rebuilt the engine, spent many hours on the electrical, replaced fuel, and brake lines, etc. "Rejuvenated" her back to being a great running and safe vehicle again, leaving the natural patina.
    This one here is absolutely stunning. Congratulations on your car.
    Something different between mine and yours, knowing mine is unmolested and original are the radio knobs. I've got the 'fake chrome" trim and knobs on the AM radio. (September 66)

    Very nice. Not one year only but here are some first and last. First year, headlights, 12V, push button engine deck lid, and last year for overriders (US, European never had them), front turn signals, taillights, and steering wheel, low back seats?. Backup lights continued on the Type 2, until '72-'73, though body mounted. I believe all four fender were one year only as well as the windshield and rear window dimensions, and the vent window handle went from the push button hook to the round black rubber knobs, aprons had the H stamped. Things noted missing; 12V sticker on fan shroud, shifting pattern on ashtray and elastic pockets on the door panel. Still minor things on an awesome restored back to original bug. Well done indeed. Worth mentioning that the pop up windows were an option but could be dealer installed, or DIY as the frame was predrilled. I had that B&HVW mag too. Long gone, but glad to see the bug endures.

    The only Bug I owned was a ‘67 and I bought it in ‘77. Mine wasn’t as this but it did look good with surfboard racks on the roof.

    Drove mine fifteen years and had 155,000 on odometer. Biggest problem was rust under the back seat where the battery leaked over the years and made holes in the floor. Took me a while to figure out why I was getting water intrusion. Mechanic moved the battery to the opposite side and told me to buy a marine battery box to prevent future problems. Replaced clutch for the first time in 1982 then traded for a Jetta. I miss my bug.

    • @bloqk16
      @bloqk16 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clutch on the '67 model were nearly indestructible. Never had a problem with mine with over 107K miles on it.

    My year Volkswagen is 1974 Super Beetle, with or with out sunroof. Prefer stock VW rather than any customizing. Have to say though, this 1967 VW Beetle is very nice. Cafeteria lady had same with out sunroof. She upgraded to a 1972 Super Beetle in medium blue and gray interior. My affinity to Beetles started in 7th grade. Look out the window of art class and there was that blue 1967 Beetle. First vehicle was a 1961 Beetle in light green. Second was a 1972 Super Beetle in Sumatra green with tan interior. At some point, that 1974 Super Beetle is out there for me ...

    Question is, on that cold January day, did the hot air ducks worked properly enough ?
    See, my older brother had a 300$ '63 in '71. Riding shotgun, I always had the pleasure of scraping the frost on the interior of the winshield
    on our way for skiing in minus 15° C temps. We roller painted the car in Mopar Crazy Orange with black, reversed wheels. It looked hot and mean.
    But, man, a car with no heating is a torture ! 😱 In 1972, we tried to install a salvaged gas powered heater in it.
    Got more black fumes than heat. That was it.
    On a weekend trip, the engine died. He traded it at a Datsun dealer and came out with 1 Y.O. Datsun 510. With HEAT.
    His girlfriend, now his wife, would'nt sit in a Beetle for the rest of her life !

    • @bloqk16
      @bloqk16 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue I had with the heater in my '67 Beetle was carbon monoxide [CO], which had me keeping the heater turned off unless it was dire, such as windshield icing. Luckily it was infrequent, as California winters are mild.
      From what I figured, there was a leak with the heat exchanger. I discovered the CO problem one cold day when I quickly developed a headache and felt slightly nauseous. I turned off the heater and opened up the window, and took deep breaths.
      From then on, for long trips in winter weather, it was bundling up with garments, double layers of everything, including socks.

    Great looking car. Nice example of a 67. With what appears to be a lot of thought put into many of the details like the engine one-offs and putting the correct late model year over riders on the rear, I'm surprised that the builder wasn't able to find original German front fenders for it. Only a small detail, and only those that know the 67s would be able to tell.

      @@Shred_The_Weapon I'll do one better: The 45 mph in third gear was done on a state highway at a 6 percent grade; with the engine at full throttle. I looked up the specs of that stretch of roadway just now: California Highway 152, Pacheco Pass, elevation at around 1,300 feet.
      Tried as I did many times with building up to top speed before hitting that highway grade, to make that grade in 4th gear, it just couldn't be done.
      Goes to show a marvelous aspect with the info that can be got on the 'Web with that highway info.
      Postscript: A couple of years ago I hit that same highway grade in a late-model sedan with 300+ HP . . . it felt great doing it at 75 mph.

    Awesome volkswagen Beetle, however what has me thinking are the headlights,cweren*t they sealed beams, cause those headlights look like what a 1970 + would have, also which is very rare to get even today, these 2 items, an under the dash bamboo tray, & the plastic flower vase those would even complement that 1967 even more, maybe even a 1967 owners manual ,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

    Gorgous!!! Actually extra holes in the cooling tin for the air breather snorkle was also on the 70....ask me how I know... : ) I rescued my 70' from a junkyard....Also the 67 used pressure air from the spare tire for the windshield washer.....WAS the 67 the first bug with a collapsible steering column?

    • @DubWerks
      @DubWerks 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, 67 still had a solid column, '68 was the first year of the collapsible column. I'm putting a collapsible in my car just for that extra bit of safety.

    • @5150mxVW

    • @JackFeelsNerves
      @JackFeelsNerves 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vintagevwsalesandkeyservices Hmmm, still not 100% convinced. It's certainly clear that the wings on the finished car are aftermarket, judging by the location of the horn grilles. 1967 was an odd year for lots of VWs though right? I imagine there are are many 1-year-only parts, and that the beetle could have had sloping OR vertical headlights in that same year?

    I'm guessing the answer is NO, but was there any gasoline smell in the cabin?

    • @5150mxVW
      @5150mxVW  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , No , that typically happens with the 68 and later models with the side fill door . The rubber connector to tank with age becomes porous allowing those fumes thru and on thru the dash into the cabin .....replace the hose and all good

    • @bloqk16
      @bloqk16 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the '67 Beetle I had, the only times gasoline smell was an issue was when topping off the tank. When I drove home from college and wanted to make it on a tankful, I'd filled it to the brim, which temporarily created a gasoline smell for a half-hour of driving.
