    Thanks for the memories. I now live in Western Canada on Vancouver Island. As a young police officer I often walked my beat from Norbury to Crystal Palace. I'm also familiar with South Norwood and Selhurst as from Norbury we frequently covered staff shortages. As a young detective, I was stationed in Croydon. It all seems too familiar. And before all this when I was a schoolboy, I lived in Morden. Thanks again for the memories.

    I lived at Waddon on the 157 route for 26 years & used to get it or the 410 to work at Anerley 🥰🥰 35:45 is Borough Hill, my old road 👍🏻

      Waddon brings back so many childhood memories - went to school near there and we used to have a newsagent shop near the Purley Way as well - good ol times!

    For those interested, we're in South London proper for this trip. South, south London. We start in Crystal Palace, SE19, then through SE20, SE25, CR0, a little bit of SM6, SM5 and we end in SM4.
    SE19 - Crystal Palace
    SE20 - Anerley/Penge
    SE25 - South Norwood
    CRO - Croydon
    SM6 - Wallington
    SM5 - Carshalton
    SM4 - Morden

    Thanks for this.
    I used to live in South Norwood and, when my school was in central Croydon, caught the 157 (or 154 or 75) from the Clock Tower every school day!
    My mum now lives on Selhurst Road and, if she wasn't so unsteady on her feet, this is one of the buses she could catch into Croydon.

    • @thecockerel86
      @thecockerel86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 154 does not come through South Norwood. 157, 75 and 410 use Selhurst Road and the high street.

    Tottenham looks scary and so much litter. I love the rides as I could never see all you show in one visit. I saw horse guards outside a building and lots of new and really old buildings, one which looked like the bottom part of a brown boat but it wasn't the 'ark'.
    I love the map you show and the buses line of travel and the pop up buildings as the bus passes plus all the info. Yours are by far the very best travel videos, such clear pictures it's as if I'm actually there.
    I'm addicted.

    Nice to see one of the routes I used the most in the 1970/80/90's. Used to go on to Raynes Park in my day. BTW - do all London buses stop so much these days ? This seemed to stop every 200 yards, sure it used to be more like two or three times the distance between stops ?

    I have watched several of your videos and my observations leads me to believe that the bicyclists are dangerous on the streets with their antics to other traffic and the pedestrians. Aren’t there any traffic rules for them?

    2. 19 km - it's very long city route.

    How weird.I lived in the heart of S E London and now live right on the edge of S E London and Kent it's 4.30am and I have just woke up from a nightmare where a Tram came within inches of where I was chatting to someone. In the dream, it came round a blind corner next to the woods we were chatting by..This relates to an incident 7 years ago when a brilliant friend of mine wrote me directions from her house to a friend in West Sussex in the finest detail possible and neglected to mention Trams which after 60 years then,I was totally unaware of as I never had reason to go to areas where they were and I had the shock of my life:). What happens if the traffic lights fail ??

    An excellent video, as always, from Wanderizm.
    I have only one question - though it can expand to many - on seeing South London.
    Why?

  • @cheesechang
    @cheesechang 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Wanderizm. I have a request for you. Could you maybe film nice videos like these but maybe five or six in Yorkshire? Its where I live, I'd love to see you ride some nice buses in the countryside.

  • @hollyr.2846

    I want to know if all the buses you ride on are all electric as there is never any engine noise. It's all new to me. So many cyclists ignoring red lights, not wearing helmets. So many people walking across wide junctions without a care, so many HUGE streets, so much building work and cones. 🤔😱

    Great video! Question - why are so many cars parked on sidewalks, and is that legal?

    • @thecockerel86
      @thecockerel86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Legal (mostly) and normal. London is packed, not enough room for vehicles to be parked inside garages or driveways in the house.

    • @Desslar
      @Desslar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thecockerel86 I see. In that case, it seems surprising that so many people would opt to own cars, given London's great public transportation system.

    Insecure load at 59:57. That car is a write off, needs a new roof. Lucky it's a car, and not a kid ran out over the crossing. No straps or anything on that scaffold truck!

    This drver is too fast for city conditions, There is no point in hard acceleration , only to have to dreak again for the next busstop , jerky, wasteful of deisel , more wear and tear on breaks and engine. Bus depoes should monitor diesel usage , and give awards to the most economical drivers ,

    Having looked at a lot of your videos, I fail to see what the atraction of living in London is. In lots of places it is dirty and unattractive. Mind you if you compare it with most large American cities, it is paradise.
