Love that you watch Pispers, here's some context and some improvements (hopefully) on translation for better understanding, hope you'll find it useful, keep it up:
3:20 Rainer Calmund used to gain weight continously due to the jojo-effect with dieting until he weighed 180 kg. I believe that's what Pispers meant by eternal growth. In 2020 Calmund had surgers to reduce the size of his stomach and has lost around half of his pek-weight.
7:40 Poorly translated! Pispers is satirizing Thilo Sarrazin [compare comment to timestamp 10:55] and actually quips, "It's not their [Southern Europeans] fault, they are born with a hammock, you can't do anything about that."
9:18 The far-right, islamophobic party Pegida is referring to islamic terrorists with such slogans.
10:55 Pispers is referring to the highly controversial yet best-selling book "Deutschland schafft sich ab" (Germany abolishes itself) by former SPD-politician Thilo Sarrazin. The book was published in 2010. On its contents from the wikipedia page to the book: "Sarrazin argued for restricting Muslim immigration to Germany on the grounds that Muslims who had immigrated to Germany from Turkey and other Muslim countries had failed to assimilate into German society, lived culturally separate lives in densely Muslim neighborhoods, and that two thirds of Germany's Muslim immigrants were on welfare.
Sarrazin argued that if immigration continued, Germany would, over time, become a predominantly Muslim country."
11:35 The famous comedy-duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were nicknamed "Dick und Doof" (Fat and Stupid) in Germany, an example for the poorer German humor. Pispers is using the reference to indicate that Sigmar Gabriel exhibits both those qualities.
13:42 Pispers is using these clichés to show that it's impossible to qualify an entire people as lazy or hard-working.
16:30 The translation was not so crisp here. Pispers said, "750 millions of losses, at West LB that counted as a good day!" West LB AG (Westdeutsche Landesbank Aktiengesellschaft) was a bank group that lost immense sums fo money due to high-risk investment choices. It was dissolved and split into a few new banks in 2012, which still exist.
18:16 "Ein-Euro-Jobber": Germany can offer people who've been unemployed for a long period of time "Ein-Euro-jobs", jobs that are paid with one Euro per hour, in addition to unemployment benefit. The idea is to get people off the streets and off their couch and reinforce their will to work. The concept has been criticized for being demeaning and pointless though, because those people often fulfill rather useless tasks (e. g. pointing out trainplatforms and bus stations to passengers) and only get paid one Euro per hour.
19:55 Pispers is comparing capitalism to the lottery here, where anyone can win, but not everyone, which is a slight but distinct difference that's a lot harder to grasp in German (alle/jeder).

Even if some jokes are lost in translation 'cause of play on words, which can't really be translated, you understood his core message completly. The system in which we live is broken. Not democracy is broken, but capitalism as a way of life is stupid as fuck. We as humans consume more than earth can offer. That is the task for the future. Finding ways for all of us to live a decent and peaceful life.

    • @LEJapproach
      @LEJapproach 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

And a huge part of the answer is so obvious that it almost hurts! If we, meaning the people living in the rich countries, would give up all the luxury nonsense, like the even bigger TV we don't see the least bit more on or the electric bicycle, that just helps us to arrive somewhere a full 23 seconds earlier, that would reduce our consumption of natural resources by a decent amount.
BUT: that would mean a loss of jobs, which in turn would mean poverty for many. And so, giving up the luxury nonsense, which would help saving the world in the long run, means loss and poverty in the short run, because of the mechanisms of capitalism. Now, that's what I call a vicious circle! And to break out of it, we might need to break some capitalist rules, I suppose. Ever heard of _Universal Basic Income_ ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_basic_income )? Looks like a good step forward to me!

Pegida was a group who protested against letting migrants and refuges into Germany. Sarazin wrote a bestseller about migration whose title can be roughly translated with "Germany abolishes itself." This is why Pispers said somebody should write a book about migration. Unfortunately, the video shown has bad English subtitles in places, because the translator misunderstood some German words either acoustically or from their true meaning or did not understand them at all and therefore chose wrong English words.
Only one example at 11:59 = Pispers really says: "We are the only ones in the world who owe everything they have to their own diligence."... but the original short German word "Fleiß" (= substantive of "being diligent") for "diligence" was simply translated with the wrong word "flesh" ( = "Fleisch") only because the German pronunciation of these two original short German words sounds very similar.

"Against wariors of god on german soil" - When Pispers said that he was talking about Pegida, which is an abbreviation for "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamicisation of the Occident".
Pegida is a right-wing, racist, anti-islamic organisation that years ago was know for regulary organising anti islamic protest marches in parts of Germany.
In the video there is a little translation error. Pispers said "wars" not "warriors"
So Pispers is making fun about Pegida members protesting "Against islamic religious wars on german ground". His point is, that its useless to protest against things nobody wants anyway. He is against bad weather, but hence does not organice protests against bad weather.

(Different sects collate things differently, but ultimately it all boils down to belief in God (in just the right way) and not being a dick.)
Saudi-Arabia is a monarchy, not a religion. Its laws happen to follow the Wahabite tradition, a sect that most Muslims regard as crazy or even apostasy.
ISIS is interesting: Ostensibly Arab in origin, it insists on using an American acronym as name rather than the equivalent Arabic "Daesh". Video clips advertising ISIS were produced by the Pentagon, which insists those clips were meant "ironically". Founded as a government in northern Iraq after the latest invasion to organise trash collection and schools, its active members were mostly mercenaries, the majority from France. And its laws are mostly the same as those of Saudi-Arabia, which happens to be its biggest financial supporter.
Islam being the second largest religion after Christianity, and Sunni being a bigger religious sect than Catholicism, the vanishing minority that is Wahabite is hardly representative of Islam as a whole, even through they provide 70% of the world's crude oil.

But fortunately you can watch many of Pisper's and Hildebrandt`s performances here on TH-cam, which I highly recommend, because most of their basic explanations and statements are still up to date, only the people and events are currently different of course.
Personally, I liked Pispers a bit more of the two because he never minced his words and he always ruthlessly laid all socio-political topics and problems on the table, his audience often nearly choked on laughter when he held the satirical mirror in front of their faces.

By saying that Dick & Doof used to be 2 different individuals he is accusing him for not only being fat but stupid too.

It looks like these subtitles are created using Google translator. But you can kind of get the meaning of what Volker is saying with them, even though much of his humour and some meaning is lost in this translation.
With the banners saying (badly translated) "Against the warriors of God on German soil", he's referring to anti-Muslim protests mostly in Eastern Germany using slogans that basically said "Against mujahedin in Germany".

The thing he is talking about there is how ridiculous it is that they run around with banners saying "against god-warriors on german soil" stating that its about as ridiculous as protesting against bad weather.
Also about the lottery thing: what he wanted to say is that even though anyone can get rich, not everyone at the same time can get rich. There is a pretty big difference between anyone and everyone, that many people dont realise and confuse one with the other.

You are losing quite some context via google translation, but I think you got the core message right. E. g. about the africans coming across the sea he says that one day they are not coming with one boat but with many boats. Google understands "boote" (boats) as "bote" (messenger) so the translations makes no sense. This happens on some points in the video.
Also when he talks about Rainer Calmund and eternal growth he's refering to Rainer Calmund being of enormous overweight. It hat nothing to do with him being a soccer club manager, but it's purely a joke about his size.

This time there actually are errors in the subtitles..
for instance at one point he said "Fleiß", "zeal", but it translated "Fleisch", "flesh", so the message read something like:
"that is the myth about us Germans with our flesh", when it should have been "zealous Germans"
Later there's a part about mediterranean migration and he says:
"At some point they'll realise it's nonsense to get into small Boats one at a time and they'll get into many boats"
but on "boats" it didn't translate "Boote", but "Botschaften" and so it suggested the solution be "the Africans will allcome in messages"...
you should be a lot more confused than you are buy what you're reading, I can tell you that.
The German version makes absolute and utter sense though.
