I just hit Drop the Hammer today after getting motivated watching you guys doing it. Back watching this video for the second time now. Drops are a blast and glad you showed the story of the nerves of seeing it and then conquering it. Next time you're in Bentonville let me know!!
Thanks for filming all the runs from different angles, I was so close to hitting those jumps in 2022 but chickened out! I just got my first DH bike and this year I’ll do it! You guys killed it and I love the enthusiasm! Lol
Wonder how long those back suspensions last doing this. Also wonder the difference doing this with a FS vs a hardtail would be. Might just depend on the rider.
🧩 The average rider can get away with a simple aircan service once a year, and a full damper rebuild once every two years. Manufacturers recommend a more frequent service interval, but I think that's just them covering their bases. Someone that rides more aggressively or more often will need to service the shock more often. It isn't unheard of for a rider to do multiple rebuilds per year. The characteristics of the frame and any alignment issues can also have an effect on the frequency of required service. In regard to HT vs FS; the FS allows you to plow through larger rocks and roots that need avoiding on a HT. This allows you to ride faster or simply enjoy the experience more due to a reduced need to focus on obstacles that need avoiding on a hardtail. There are limits depending on the geo and travel. Uphill traction is also improved, but at the cost of pedaling efficiency on flatter terrain. Bikes made for the type of riding in this video are built to be more sturdy. They usually have more material, and are therefor heavier. More material can also mean less flex where it matters, and therefor less wear on the rear shock from side loading. Some brands do a better job at this than others. I hope you find this answer satisfactory. 🧩
Creek is legit guys, specially their proline stuff. Great job methodically tackling that. If you get a chance (and if you like tech) blast down their double black tech some time, best experience and most fun I've had making a video.
100% how I felt about it too. Drops are mostly about courage, but jumps need proper technique, and mine isn't dialed enough for me to be confident that I'm not gonna eat sh*t. 😅
The drop is butter, normal trail speed sets you up perfect. And the jump after just requires a slight tap on the brake ... The distance looks intimidating, but it's tough to overshoot and even harder to come up short. Once you do it, it's one of those that you'll say how easy it is.
We both started our MTB channels about the same time but our riding styles are completely different. I turned out to be an uphill pedaling addict while you guys became monster feature senders.
A lot of it has to do with the fact that Cory isn't very interested in pedaling. I could have gone either way to be honest. Before we discovered mtb, she was really into roller coasters. I hated going because I don't like just being a passenger, I prefer being an active participant. Mountain biking let's Cory get her adrenaline rush, while I get to feel like I'm actively improving myself in some way. Win win.
Great video! Watched this after I hit it for the first time. I could never investigate like that. It'd freak me out. I just get towed in and hit it, and that's always served me well. The ones I crashed on were phantom and the first one (that they got rid of) on the entry to Goat Skull at Killington ... Both difficult, but I don't think it's a coincidence that they're visible from the lift. Too much time to fill my head with everything that could possibly go wrong.
Thanks! Yeah, I used to feel the same way about scoping features out first, but now I prefer to investigate, although a tow is always helpful too. I just had to get myself used to focusing on how to hit the feature the best way for my skill level as opposed to ruminating on all the possible ways things could go wrong. ✌️😁
Did you guys document your drop and jump progress? I’ve watched older videos when you guys just started and it’s incredible what you’re doing now. Following along it seems like it was pretty fast but I know you probably put in a lot of work. Would be nice to see what you did to progress both mentally and technique wise.
We started small and gradually kept adding a foot or two. Once you can do a five footer consistently and with confidence, there isn't much difference with larger drops. It's just a matter of improving your ability to guage the right speed and then having the courage to execute. Waiting for a local to pass by and tow you in helps a lot with getting the speed right. I gotta say, to progress that quickly, I was in a constant state of slight discomfort due to us constantly pushing our comfort zone. Cory thrives in that while I focus on all the possible things that can go wrong. So I typically lay out all the variables, while Cory hypes us both up. We balance each other out that way. If you follow our Instagram accounts, that might help you fill in the blank spots in regard to our progress. A lot of the time, we don't record the stuff like in this video, and spend all day deliberating, progressing, fine tuning, and just focusing on getting it right. Then we might just post a clip on Instagram at the end of the day and not make a full TH-cam video at all as that can be a distraction. So in a way, this video was like a summarized "behind the scenes" of how it usually goes.
@@dukeofmtbthanks for the write up. I got back into mtb after a long layoff a few years ago and you guys are an inspiration. Not sure I’m willing to do the really big stuff but appreciate the feedback because I do want to see some progression. I’ll check out the insta!
My bike is also a medium. We're the same height, and I wear jeans with a 32" inseam. I run a 210 OneUp post, and it's just perfect. Although sometimes, the whole post gradually slides down the seat tube over a few weeks and starts causing a creaky sound when pedaling seated. So then I just pull it back up 1mm to 3mm to get it to stop creaking That's how tight the fit is, but an extra NM or two of torque on the seat clamp, and a clump of grease on the bottom of the post keeps the creak away. Just don't slam the thing against whatever's in the seat tube, and it's the perfect fit. If you get a thicker saddle though, then you might have to shim your post down to 190 so it's not too high. 😁👍
@braedenspencer9572 Glad I could help. Keep in mind that OneUp posts have the shortest stack length among cable actuated posts. So I'd go with a 210mm OneUp dropper shimmed down to 200, as opposed to getting a 200mm dropper from another brand and having it stick out too much for me to pedal comfortably. Anyway, best of luck with everything. Enjoy the new bike when it arrives. 🤘😁
Great job Cory! Absolutely awesome and inspiring. How long have you been riding? I'm trying to work my way up to features like this but I am not quite there yet 😂 my husband and I ride together like you guys do and we're going to Mountain Creek for the first time this weekend!
Thanks! Matagal na kami di naka uwi sa Pinas. The flight is brutally long, tapos naging mahirap dahil sa Covid. Last time was 2015, before we even started biking.
Good one guys, I'd try that..
Thanks, that looked FUN. Keep the videos coming Love

Dang! I could potentially talk myself into the drop but I don’t know about that jump. Lordy, great job!

We have BCPOV at home. BCPOV at home:
Dont take this to heart :)
We love BCPOV😊
Big fan of VanGirlYuka too! 😊
How much suspension do you have?
I'm on 140mm bike with a 160mm fork, while Cory's bike is 170mm front and rear.
Wait... Is this on the remnants of the old action park?
I don't know what that is. 😅
@The Duke of MTB lol. Its he most awesome amusement park I've ever been to. Please check out the vids about it. It was called "Class Action Park".
I've left a lot of skin in Vernon nj
@jimmynickelz I'll check it out, thanks. 😁
@The Duke of MTB the HBO documentary is the best. Great channel btw. Subbed.
Noice!!!!!
Thanks, Craig! 😊

What size dropper do you have on your meta tr? I think my inseam is 32”. Thinking about snagging a size medium, I’m like 5’9.5!
