Constance Debré is the daughter of an illustrious French family whose members include a former Prime Minister, a model, and a journalist. Debré abandoned her marriage and legal career in 2015 to write full-time and begin a relationship with a woman. Her transformation from affluent career woman to broke single lesbian was chronicled in her 2018 novel Play boy, praised by Virginie Despentes for its writing that is at once “flippant and consumed by anxiety.”
Debré has published three novels: Play Boy (2018), Love Me Tender (2020), and Nom (2022), which will be published by Semiotexte in 2024. She has received the Prix de la Coupole and Le Prix Les Incorruptibles.
Chris Kraus is the author of eight books, among them the novels Summer of Hate, Torpor and I Love Dick. She has recently collaborated with the artists Reynaldo Rivera and Vanessa Beecroft and written voiceover for a new film by Leigh Ledare. Chris is a co-editor of Semiotexte alongside Hedi El Kholti and teaches writing at ArtCenter.
