How can I be so foolish! I wasted time on a couple of Ableton 11 'beginner tutorials' who seemed to assume I wanted to be like Illmind already, when I just wanted to record voice with an acoustic guitar on a USB microphone. This tutorial nailed it. Thank you!
I tried home recording a couple years ago and got frustrated watching the much longer tutorials other people made and their excessive mentions of music production jargon that I really didn't care about when I just wanted to get going with my music. Your tutorial was so straight to the point and easy to understand, it's exactly what beginners like me need! Thank you so much for making this. And your brilliant voice! I didn't expect such a powerful one to burst out so effortlessly, it is like an instrument :) thanks again
Thanks for making this a simple vid!! It can be overwhelming to go through half hour videos to find the small details you actually need so I really appreciate you being quick and to the point on this one! 😊
An Ableton instructor was too busy to help me learn this and she forwarded your links. This is perfect. Simple and effective! Thank you very much. I have so many questions but I'm sure your other vids will answer them. Bravo!
A savior and guiding light and to the point: record a vocal and dump in a music bed. After battling with the interface, I needed "easy" for the rest of the evening!!
I've been trying to learn how to do this for MONTHS (I'm technologically challenged) and this video FINALLYYY helped me. It was simple, straight to the point, helpful and easy. Thank you so much, You have made my life much easier. I have subscribed.
Thank you so very much for this video tutorial. I had looked at several others and tried following the instructions on the software itself but I could not get to recordin audio and how even to capture the sound into the software itself. You really simplified this for me and saved me from having to abandon Ableton all together. You are a very good instructor.
0:21 condenser mic and dynamic mic are two different designs... and either one can have a USB or XLR interface. There are condenser USB mic out there, such as the Audio Technica AT2020 USB
Thank you! I just needed to know how to record my voice for my granddaugher. I didn't need all the acronyms and jargon. Very clear and simple instructions.
Yes, what most of us need is a nice simple intruction video to get started with a voice or guitar. Thanks All the other beats and loops can come later is is for anther type of music maker.
I remember you from twitch! you are super talented!! starting to producing music and got a mic to record this great ol' voice :) glad to see you with helpful content as well
thank you so much :) if you feel like it, please listen to my new album and lmk what you think. Look me up at Raquel Lily on any music service and i appreciate the kind words
Hey adorama. Really nice video tutorials. ❤ I have a Question pls 🙋. When I record my vocals in Live 11 it's volume is too low. How can i record vocals in normal level. Note = 'I don't have audio interface bcoz I can't afford it instead, I use soundcard. ' Pls help 🥺🥺🥺
How can I manage recordings? Say I make 10 vocals and want to review or pick the best one at a later point. The only way I’ve done this previously is to make 10 audio tracks within the project, so I can flick between and decide which is best. Is there a better way? Thanks
Finally this is the tutorial video that I've been waiting for. But somehow I can't hear my own vocal from my headphone, I saw the signal bar that it is there I just can't hear it
Nice vid, one small correction: The term "USB mic" is a reference to the type of connecting plug the microphone uses, not the way the mic captures the sound. The correct term is "dynamic mic" instead of "USB mic", as many condenser, ribbon and even dynamic mics use a USB plug.
Hi...but what about having effects? Effects on your voice while monitoring, or even before recording? I want to hear my voice thru my headphones as I am laying down the track. Thanks! Lil hugs
I have a condenser mic, and find the volume too low compared to the other tracks.. I am using phantom power, but seems now there is a need for a preamp of some kind?
Thanks for your video. i did all that you showed but i do not those green light on the audio auto setting on the top right end portion of the ableton live. when you are talking the green light blinks but i dont hear mine at all. i dont see it recording either. i bought the rode podmic and the scarlette solo 4th to do podcasting. I am not happy as i could not still hear anything. Could you please guide me?
as far as audio latency is concerned, I have a problem. I've adjusted "sample" settings and so forth and I have tried to optimize my PC laptop to record vocals and add guitar to my Ableton Live Lite 11 sessions. I'm using an M-audio solo audio interface. If I upgrade my laptop to 16 gigs of RAM from the 8 gigs I have now, will that eliminate the latency problem??
Thank you for this tutorial....but it would be nice if you make more tutorials like that because when you delete your vocal for you was so easy to do but when i tryed to delete my wrong vocal was so hard lol....can you next time explain on anything you click on in a tutorial to explain it so that we know where to click because im really a beginner on ableton...you got 1 like and one sub from!
I'm just learning Ableton, but what I can't figure out is, how do I get more than two channels for my vocals? Looks like the default is channels 1 and 2, but I want to have different vocals on different tracks and channels so that all of my vocals aren't on channels 1 and 2. When they're all on 1 and 2, I can't have different effects for different vocal tracks. Make sense? Any help is appreciated as this is getting frustrating, but I'm sure the answer is simple. Thanks.
This might be a dumb question, but my laptop has a very loud fan. Will that affect the audio when I try to record something using the suggested hardware?
thank you for a very simple and easy tutorial you really explained well esp me an neophyte in this kind of recording with all the connections that is very confusing. my next prob was the recording on Ableton. how to open the tracks for recording I cannot see mine...thanks much

A savior and guiding light and to the point: record a vocal and dump in a music bed. After battling with the interface, I needed "easy" for the rest of the evening!!
Finally a step-by-step tutorial that leaves out the fluff & gets to the point. Thank you!

Import it separately, then duplicate the track to edit for your effects.
Have you ever recorded vocals and then not been able to hear them with the backing track? Please reply if you can sort this
This might be a dumb question, but my laptop has a very loud fan. Will that affect the audio when I try to record something using the suggested hardware?
Do I NEED an interface or can I use my mixer instead?
what of using a digital mixer which has the interface inbuilt
Hello dear, how do i set up rode podmic and scarlett solo 4th in my mac to record a podcast
