Thanks Serge. I've been honing a lot of low level blades I had sitting around and sold them on eBay. It was good to hone a high quality razor. Thanks for looking in
Nice shave Guy, is it a 1200 diamond plate that you used for lapping. And just out of curiousity you would still use your 1k chosero for setting the bevel and not contemplate using the 1200 atoma. Sorry for the questions but wondered if it was viable. Have a great week. Very best regards Gordon.👍
Hi Gordon. I lapped all my stones with the 400 Atoma then I moved to the 1200 Atoma as a finisher. IN addition I used a 15K stone to polish my 20K Suehiro. I used the 1200K Atoma to create slurries on all my stones then moved to clear water. Oddly, the 1200K cut better than the 400K. It must be getting worn already..Cheers!
Thanks Justin. The edge came out smooth. I've come a long way in my honing. I ruined a few razors in my very early days before I learned to us a much lighter touch, to evaluate before and during the process etc..thanks for looking in. Can't wait for your kami shave..!
@@gentlemensedge5503 you’re welcome Guy! And you gotta love that! It just feel great to put a nice smooth edge on your blades. If I ever win some money maybe I’ll get some stones, until then I’ll send them to my bud who puts a great edge on them. I might attempt the Kami shave tomorrow or Thursday and I’ll record the carnage for the weekend video lol.
@@JMac. When you do decide to buy stones, don't buy the cheapies, you'll just experience lack luster edges and you'll wind up replacing them. I've looked into the Kami a number of times because they're interesting but I was only interested in the authentic ones. Curious little razor, that's for sure...I'll be watching and waiting!!
@@gentlemensedge5503 that’s what scares me.... is the price of good stones lol. And I’m the same as you, I was i etiquette by the traditional Japanese Kamisoris... I’ll try to put on a good show for ya bud!
@@JMac. The Show Must Go On!! Haha! I use 4 stones and a lapping stone. I have a number of finishers, the one in the video is the 20K Suehiro, the cost of it has come down from $450 but you can get a Jnat for $70. It's all a learning process. I actually started on the 4K/8K Norton. I wore it down to a nub until I bought my Shaptons..sheeet...it is kind of expensive and lots to learn also..
Nice shave, the edge looked great.. Not long ago i was discussing Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells with a friend in person. The next day TH-cam recommended me a documentary on Tubular Bells .Very Strange, i sh*t you not :) Cheers
I did get a good shave, the edge was comfy but I think I can get an even better edge. I've found that the level of the working surface contributes to how I hone but thanks...Tubular Bells? That song gives me the creeps even today...whew! Cheers..
I always enjoy the added honing process! Good shave!
