Your thinking is correct but leaking is a factor. Also it would be hard to store water long term in an unsealed container. That jug is meant to work in concert with the purification items I have. You could store a couple of unopened gallons of distilled water for immediate use, that would be a good idea.
Just an FYI, this video is meant to show Emergency Items, that no one thinks about usually, not the only emergency item's he has in his truck. He is filming a basics video asap!
Thank you Dusty giving me a lot of ideas to put in my car, I work 35 country miles from home I realize I better get my backpack together just incase something happens and I have to walk home .
Thsnk you Dusty , I think a few cubes of broth in the foil wrapping like chicken or beef might be good to have to give you some strength desolved in water or a couple of packages of ramen , it can be made into noodles and broth or eaten as dry noodles snack snd they store easily and don’t go bad!! God bless!! ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Thanks for the info for things to keep in your car for emergency needs... l really like that big flashlight that has multiple functions I need to get one .... Thank you for going thru your truck to show us things we need.... You are very prepared for just about anything... Smart man... Love what you do and the whole family.... God bless and be safe...😊🤗
I would also recommend some waterproof paper and china markers (aka wax pens/grease pencils) in case you need to leave a note in a storm or on a car window.
That was very informative. I'm just a granny and I do not know what you mean by unraveling your bracelet? I Have six grandsons starting at age 13 and I think that this would be great stuff to put on their Christmas list. Thank you very much. I think we're all feeling the need to be prepared these days. God bless
He was referring to the paracord bracelet. He had extra paracord on hand, so he mentioned you could use that up before having to unravel the paracord bracelet. Paracord is good for tying & anchoring items, tying between 2 trees to form the center roof line or ridge beam of a basic shelter with a tarp, etc. Hope this helps! And, yes, I think these would make excellent gifts for your grandsons!
Yeah what a cool gramma! Mine got me a book on knots and an axe when I was about 12. My parents wouldn't let me join the boy scouts so I taught myself. Ended up helping me ALOT through my life.
@@xazzielmartinez2060 A book on knots. That is a wonderful idea to go with some of this stuff. Put a whole backpack together for them. Thank you for the idea!
Great suggestions! I keep my full bug out bag with those items, minus the socks in the bed of my truck. I didn't show that because not everyone has a truck. I may do another video showing my full survival load out for those who own trucks and are looking for ideas on what to carry.
Hi Dusty! Brooke sent me over and Im so glad she did. Thank you for making me aware of items that I need to carry with me in my car. I will start gathering today! Blessings to you and your family ❤
I'm just starting to buy emergency items for my family. Can you make a video on getting started and what a well balanced survival Kit would look like? Also like what items at a minimum I should have for my family in my home.
Great video as always. I keep a jump starter and I have big tires so I also keep a torque wrench for changing tires. My Hummer is lifted so I also carry an extending fishing pole with the hook for closing my hood and a foldable step stool since I am 4'11" 😂😂
Great ideas Dusty. I would remind people to pay attention to the temperatures where you live. Vehicles can get extremely hot or cold inside. Having a pop can explode in my car during the winter scared the crap out of me. 😱💥 Always better to have & not need than to need & not have. ❤
2 things I didn't see a wool blanket and metal cup/pot. Having a small stove either multi fuel or alcohol would also be good. If you are stuck having way to heat food or drink would be great.
I didn't show those items as they were in my bug out bag in the bed. With this video, I was trying to cover the basic items that you would have space for whether you have a or large vehicle. I will be doing a video showing my personal full kit that I carry in my truck. It will have substantially more items. You do have a good point though.
I mocked you after you showed the sharpener and then the knife with replaceable blades. My humble apologies! What a fantastic job! I keep similar items in my Toyota Highlander and will now be heading to the store with my head held in shame to add a number of items you mentioned.
No need to apologize my friend. I'm happy I could help you think of items to add to your kit. All I ever hope for by doing these videos is to help everyone be as safe and prepared as they can be. I've always said that "we're stronger together"!
I was glad that you just talked about the emergency stuff you carry everyday and didn't go on about any other stuff that pertained to your job that doesn't interest anyone else, I liked your video, 2 thumbs up
I would use the old players from back in the seventies road flares to start fires on the instructions jobs. I can start fires in the rain. I would love to find some more
Thanks for the tips! I put together an emergency kit for my husband for Christmas in 2022. He was working 100 miles away from home every day so I wanted to make sure he had a kit just in case. I’ll have to add some of these things to it! Do you have a belt cutter and window break tool in case of a crash and you need to get yourself out? We both keep one of those in our center console.
You're welcome! I love your state by the way!! We had the honor of visiting during our cross country trip last year and I have to say, every single person I met felt like a close friend that would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it.
I'll say yes. We stopped at the dollar tree in Sneedville TN while visiting family and I found them there. I haven't seen them at any other location as of yet.
Not so much bug out bags. On trips we always pack double what we think we'll need and I pack extra "security" items, just in case. More often than not, especially long trips, we'll have the camper with us which carries tons of supplies.
Almost everyone i work with have no concept, no concept of anything being remotely prepared. Seriously, no jumper cables, no jack, spare tire, no jack. My supervisor asks me every few weeks to check his tire pressure. He doesn’t know how to check it, much less put air in. No one has ever heard of 'Fix-A-Flat'. Now, I am by far no expert (only an expert jack-@$$, special talent comes natural). Seriously, there’s laws against being that dumb. Cables, FixAFlat, #2 philips, a pocket knife, that's the absolute bear bones minimum, recommend more, but at least try.
Same here. Most of my family is just skating through life by the grace of God. If the smallest situation arose, not even an emergency they'd be up the creek without a paddle or boat for that matter. I've tried telling them and they just shrug their shoulders but I'm the one they call when something comes up. Maybe one day they'll get their heads out of the sand but I doubt it.
Thank you! The survival kit was a gift from Brooke, it's the 37 in 1 survival kit from TEMU. They actually have a ton of different kits and most are around $20. The one I have is great quality and would trust it in the field.
I'm gonna be honest with you,TEMU. I've used first aid and survival kits from a few different places, Amazon, Walmart, survival websites, etc... Temu's quality is as good as the rest and costs half as much. That's just my opinion though.
That's a must have! I have a 700cc Stanley jump starter / phone charger with a work light that's on a swivel. I keep it in the bed and I meant to show it but forgot to.

I think your 5 gallon water jug should be full.

I would probably add a tarp, a microfiber towel, a hat for either extreme (sun/cold) and a pair of woollen socks, especially given you have the space.

Walmart has pinch lights for a dollar. Maybe two. They are very bright and I like them cuz they're hands-free you can hold it with your mouth
I haven't seen those, I'm gonna have to go check out my Walmart and see if they have them. Good item, thanks for the info.
Wow, that's a lot of stuff! You've thought of everything Dusty.
My kit is always changing and evolving. I use past experiences of what I didn't have and needed along with what I know I'll use.

Reflective tape so you can Mark trees not to get lost. At night

About 2 and half hours in full sun.
