I’ve been on the water over 30 years and a live aboard for 22 of those years. One of my very best friends had a Carver cruiser like the one y’all are on. He absolutely loved that boat and talked about doing a adventure like you two just did. He was up in years and wanted to do it before his age slowed him down. He put it off because he wanted to wait until his children were all grown. His biological children had grown but he adopted a young brother and sister because no one wanted to adopt both and he didn’t want to see them separated. A few years ago he was getting close to his dream journey and Covid got him. Sadly he didn’t make it. So when I watch your videos I think of old Pete and and somehow feel he’s along for the journey. Thank you for posting.

Great trip! Have been enjoying your videos for many years. Because of you and your videos is the reason that I purchased a 12' Jackson fishing Kayak a few years ago. We just recently purchased a 27' Sea Ray that we explore the California Delta on. Tight lines, fair winds and following seas.

Oh how this story pulled at my heart strings! FANTASTIC compilation and narration of the whole trip. . A few years back I purchased a Mariner 32, with twin crusaders my first "Big" boat. Brand new set of canvas front and back new that year, ($8,000). On water trial i felt a faint vibration at 1500 RPM. tracked it back to port motor only, but the seller simply said it's always been there. I managed to negotiate him paying half a haul out fee (unless i found something) so i could check the props and drive shafts. Well, guess what, first thing i found was a curl over on the trailing edge of the port motor prop, which told me the boat reversed into something. I couldn't accept that that small curl would cause the vibration so needed to dig deeper. Luckily, the marina workshop had a dial test indicator they loaned me as i wanted to check the prop shaft for true. I removed the prop and set up the dti. Again, i found 1/16" out of true behind the real prop mount,,, = bent shaft. At this point the seller was panicking, why, he was thinking, does this guy want a perfect boat? Well, I did, we agreed to a price minus the cost of a trued prop and a new drive shaft, $1,500. I was happy. That boat was a gem, would run on plane from 10 mph up to almost 30 mph. Drawbacks? some, I had to ask my buddies not to bring wine and beer for days out, just 5 gallons each of gas. Cheaper for me to supply the beer and food than pouring the smelly stuff into bottomless (90 gall each side) tank. Mooring during a very windy squall!!!!. Cost of shrink wrapping every winter, (Minnesota).
Remember the old boating saying... B. O. A. T. $$$ Thanks again for the enjoyment of your videos.

Loved your entire journey! You made a rather mundane trip, in to a rather appealing and captivating documentary. My wife and I could relate to the issues you encountered with your vintage Carver. We joined an older friend once on his old Hatteras, of similar size, and encountered problem after problem, but the old man had a workaround solution for every one of them. We will be looking for your other TH-cam videos and wish you the very best in your quest to turn your Kayaking hobby in to a successful business.

My observations as a many decade fresh water boater including houseboats. I really enjoyed the series and realize it was 2 years ago. Love to have been a hand for this adventure.
    1. A single battery for the pair of engines? This boat should have at least 2, probably separated from each other so one battery or alternator fault does not ruin or discharge the other. Jump crossover switch to jump one from the other and run in parallel when only one alternator is good. Separate battery for house needs.
    2. At least 1 back up prop if not 2. Back up nut and all fittings for prop, backup packing nut and seal loaded and ready to go.
    3. A minimal outboard attached somewhere.
    4. A Honda 2000I which is much quieter and will run your griddle plus any standard charging and a fan. Quiet and more fuel efficient.

Thanks for sharing. Cold and snowing in Kentucky. I love the water. Can't wait to be back on lake Cumberland. Boats are a pain. It's why everyone doesn't do it. Tell Marty I run my V-belts loose, also. Cold start belt noise is better than worn out bearings.
