One of the GOATS. Her phrasing, delivery and timing was an undeniable influence on many but it's extremely easy to hear it in Little Richard, Aretha and Cissy Houston. At one event Mahalia requested to be the closer, and Marion went first. They said Mahalia was so shook she reverted back to her Chicago days, because Marion had the people laid OUT. Her TV style of performing wasn't going to move not a soul after Marion.
Thanks for introducing. The way she darkens and sings with grit is so beautiful and has a level of organic conviction to it. When her tone is natural though, her timbre is very close to Lashun Pace to me.
A very appreciated full vocal range video of Marion Williams! She was really one of the most influential gospel singers with a great versatile and agile voice. So easy her belted/mixed notes and a full and bright head voice with operatic-like vibrato 😃 Her characteristic protrusion of the lips while singing could easily make her an opera singer.
She was a superstar in the Golden Age of Gospel one of the top respected sopranos in the genre. If you couldn’t hit those high notes like Marion you weren’t considered a “gospel soprany”.
Never heard of this singer, but the first note I heard and that low register I knew this was a soprano. You have a troll talking about she's a tenor lmao I needed that laugh 😂😂😂. She reminds me somewhat of Lashun Pace small voice but sings with lots of power, her squalls and growls I think of Louis Armstrong.
Being honest I don't know how I missed this note. That being said it's an E-flat. The popular upload is at the wrong pitch. I'll do a video just on that note and mention it in the description.
@Jay2k2323 But her voice still has more density and sits lower than this. D5 is not a high note for Marion at the same age as Kierra. At all. It’s kind of ridiculous actually.
@@Jay2k2323that's becuz one of them is just a standard light borderling medium soprano voice in recent years (kierra) while one was a genuine high soprano (akin to minnie riperton and tina charles). So not really fair to say they're that comparable too.

One of the best HVs out there sounds like Vivians hv but sounds more at ease and fuller, she truly connected opera and gospel
One of Little Richards influences with her "wooooos". You hear her in Patti and Cissy. Good solid gospel headvoice!

Those squalls and vibrato on those high belts indicates that she has complete control on those notess

One of the most influential gospel singers ❤️ her style of singing and vocal approach was always mind blowing!
The best coloratura dramatic mezzo!
💀
😂
She’s a Soprano
Love the distortion she adds
Thanks Kaji. She's the queen of G5s and G#5s. No one belts these notes better than her. A true soprano in my opinion.
A true really high soprano to be specific. Very few sopranos could ever sing like her.
@@KajiVocals I totally agree. I’m yet to see a soprano belt beyond an E5 with as much ease as her.
Twinkie and fantasias mother .❤️
lol yep
I can see Amber Riley having some influences from Marion as well!
She's one of those singers who you wouldn't see or hear that much in community, so underrated!!

Vibrato is mágico
Her growling even at the upper 5th octave 😱. Wow !!!
Edit : Her Head voice has so much body 😮😮
Amazing
Great video kaji! Those A4s...... Thats a mezzo.
Lmao

She has a very light voice her squalls make her sound bigger than what it really is. Similar to what Kierra sheard does with her voice
Definitely. However Kierra’s voice is not nearly as high as hers.
@@KajiVocals eh idk when Kierra doesn’t squall she sounds like a 16 year old girl. Even her speaking voice is childlike

Most of her B-flats are belted.
