Thanks for the video, very good explanation. If you want to print this photo what color profile do you chose ? How can we know if the printer supports this Nikon studio color profile ?

A Printer will not need your camera profile. When you process your picture, you use the camera profile and then store the picture with a profile like sRGB. The printer driver and operating system or print application manages colors from source (sRGB or AdobeRGB or if you want your Camera profile) to the destination profile, usually supplied by your printer or paper vendor.

Can you comment on software such as Capture One Pro, which instead of reading a color correction profile, has a database of sensor profiles (and lens profiles) and applies to the RAW file upon import. Obviously this wouldn't take into account individual variances between cameras, but should correct for the primary color errors created during capture. Thank you.

Capture One Pro I don't know in detail, but I do believe that if all devices could be characterised perfectly, they would not need profiling at all. So even though Capture One has benefits in getting better results from your RAW files, it does not negate the principle that profiling is in most cases better as it indeed compensates for individual differences between devices instead of a one size fits all approach.

Thanks for your reply. Interestingly, Capture 1 Pro is known for producing better colors upon import from the same RAW file. You can see TH-cam videos on this. Sharpness is better too. This is echoed in my experience. That said, I do appreciate that if LR is color managed, it could have an advantage there. I've yet to see a comparison of this sort. Thanks for your informative videos.

Think that the profile Boudewijn makes is usefull in ACR and Lightroom but not for CaptureOne the profile made is a camera profile and I think Capture needs a icc profile. However it is possible to make camera profiles within Capture within Basis icc to go to "Effects" and choose "No color correction". Then below in curve use "Linear Response".
Now make a new recepie and choose in basis tiff 8bit - Full - include camera profile. The target you have shot has to be profiled by a program that makes icc profiles.
Out of the box I do not think Capture has the best color behavior if you compare it to Aperture.

Capture one uses icc or icm files to characterise all the different camera models. A per camera profile can be achieved for Capture One using Lumariver Profile Designer or similar. Lumariver has a capture one specific workflow that can create an icc file to correct a given built in camera curve such as standard or linear. It will work with most standard colour charts, this approach allows for individual profiles to be created for different Lighting/lens & camera combinations. Seems to work! Also within capture one using the colour editor tool one can create an ICC Profile so it is possible to colour correct a flat image and then use the saved icc file as a base for further images, I have got very good visual results using this approach. But have since moved to Lumariver profiles for colour critical work (art reproduction).

xrite says that this color passport is not a reference and result correctness is not guaranteed. fail

Although nothing is perfect and I personally only guarantee death and taxes, it does work in the correct conditions and when used correctly, so your reply seems out of place.
