Level is better than pathen, it's not only larger but it takes less stamina. It also of course levels the terrain, which makes using carts much easier on them.

I love your content and your dedication, I enjoy valheim when I play it myself and even more when I watch you. Im seriously grateful for your effort and dedication you put into this, you couldve camped out and played it safe to reach day 100 but you managed to do MORE than I do when I play normally without any restrictions (no hardcore, map, no lost items). Honestly the fact that you had both The Elder and Bonemass seemingly on the same island is super lucky. World gen hates me in games as both for me were on separate islands far from spawn and it took about 12 swamps (not kidding) to find one that had a crypt
Love it! My first burial chamber had a 2 star purple boi waiting for me. I learned to kite them to the stairs where you can stand on the ledge and melee them down out of their reach or use Flint Arrows to bring them down at range if need be.

Regarding the hoe: 1) Use pathen rather than leveling as it does not change the landscape and uses less stamina. 2) Use the pathen to highlight mushrooms spots. This makes them easier to spot for a distance for second gathering. 3) You can create a short path at the near the edge of sight line of the previous short path. This means you are creating fewer paths. Embed a resin torch inside an upright building post. The mobs will not attack it and it helps mark the way particularly at night.
good stuff. this playstyle forces you to rethink a lot of things:P my lessons from hard combat, no portal, no map.(ur insane playing hardcore) Armor is KING. trolls and anything else with 1-2 stars WILL one shot you and by far, the most annoying thing ever is not having access to a map. EVERYTHING else is annoying but not having a map will bring you close to insanity. not having a map changes SO many things from the vanilla settings. in fact im over day 300, finally made it to ML and I'm still learning how to adapt to not having a map. its frreaking HARD but challenging which is why I'm doing it. take ur time, have fun and never give up!

40:30 You don't need wind to move the boat forward. Hit "e" on the rudder once until there's only one arrow pointing upwards. In this scenario you're manually moving the boat forward, albeit at a slow pace, but at least you're moving and don't have to wait for wind.
Bro I couldnt help notice about the sailing and hating the wind part of the video, If you have it at a 1 speed just one notch up, you will speed up against the wind, might not be fastest, but sure in the hell faster than whatever you were attempting xD Great content keep it up can't wait for mroe ashlands content
I would make paths everywhere, but also I'd put up poles with two markers: One at the top always pointing north, one at the bottom pointing "home", either center base or nearest harbor. At intersections those poles would also have signs for each direction. It's a simple thing, but very effective. That run got abandoned in the mountains. It has never been a favorite to find silver, but this felt way too tedious.
Jeez, watching the start of this gives me dread thinking about the speed of plains enemies, wolves, drakes compared to a 0 run skill... You're a beast for even continuing this for 100 days regardless of progress. Post watch: Tenacity. I was really rooting for the come back no-armour moder kill. Just one rogue golem. It's unlucky you didn't have the peace of mind to drop the fang but I froze up just watching! suggestion for the wolves: if you're going to do the 200d, keep the original two wolves back up in the mountains where they're relatively much safer. That way you're never forced to wait for the taming process again.
By far the luckiest thing is the first swamp he found could support his early iron needs, I've had to travel to Mistlands spawning distances to find it lmao

This makes me feels better about losing some stats and time in non-hardcore mode, cause if you can keep coming back after essentially resetting then i can too after losing only a little bit
i am still early in the video at like 12:27 and i gotta say, my man Eikthyr power in these fights would have saved your ass quite a bit, it was off of cooldown, having the stamina for a longer run maybe a bunch of extra rolls could have saved you a lot of pain and suffering, anyway i am going to continue watch you suffer for our sake, thank you for your sacrifices sir.
lots of ups and downs, you were so close two things you didn't take advantage of is, 1. The wishbone allows you to get iron from the swamp as well, there's iron deposits underground, not only in the crypts you just have to dig underwater 2. is I usually carry 2 iron bars with me to make sculpting table, specially if you don't use portals. Those stone towers in black forest and mountain are great to fix up and plug their holes to make quick temporary bases.
Fyi if you dig up deep enough and wide enough for it to be a base the troll cant drop below to get you and just kind of wander around,it works also most of the time with shaman and the other one i forgot the name,just bigger monster in general. Its so counter intiutive that probably most of people dont know
I like to roam around in swamp with hoe. Path to walk without bloodsuckers. But pain in the ass, really awesome. I would never be able to handle this much disapointments, item losing etc. Good work 💕
Bro…. When you fell in your base, then set yourself on fire…. You just showed the world that Valheim does not give 2 fx, is ruthless, and requires a certain tenacity only the most psycho Vikings must have to play on hardcore. My salutations 🫡
the best weapon for cypts early game (dark forest) is the stagbreaker as it does AOE (area of effect) damage which reaches through doors so you can sit behind a door and hit them very easily also because its mostly a blunt weapon doing like 20 blunt and 5 pierce and skeletons are weak to blunt its very effective (quick tip almost if not all undead enemies are weak to blunt and spirit.) i hope this helps anyones that thinking of doing a hardcore world.
Great challenging gameplay. Been playing with same settings but x3 resources and avoiding deaths as much as possible. (no suicides) Also been wondering this kind of server settings on dedicated server with multiple players, would be "fun" for sure. :D

Yeah, nope, not for me. Probably my favorite part of Valheim is the slow skill building that means more and more competence as biomes progress in difficulty. I wouldn't mind losing all my inventory possessions, but all the skills, no, just not enjoyable in the least for me playing that way.
Ive got to the plains before dying once with the same settings but i used a map on the browser to find bosses no map in game tho when i died i just turned of hardcore an set the death penalty to normal and played the game with all the settings except the death penalty was really fun until the queen that took me i think 15 days to kill or a hole day of playing valheim because of her healing and insane health (also used 3 times loot so i didnt have to grind as much)
I enjoy the way you talk about your progress but sometimes its frustrating how inexperienced you are at the game. You can right click with your hoe equipped to select pathen so it doesn't mess the floor up. You get lost way too often. When sailing against a headwind, hit forward once to keep the sails down and propel yourself with the udder. You should stock up on materials like bronze, trollhide or iron before you go explore so if you die you can make tools again and have back up armor. You head out to explore with a lvl 1 sword and bow. Pretty sure your shield was only lvl 1. You also over extend a lot. You should be making small huts along your way to keep your rested bonus up and to sleep when needed. No need to fortify and make a base each time you build. That's a lot of criticism but keep making videos. You have potential.
The troll had no idea that one of the consequences of killing you would be enslavement as a copper miner. It's true when they say there's nothing scarier than a man with nothing to lose

Great video and narration as always. Two tips for anyone who wants to try hardcore, one of which can still benefit you Oath if you decide to resurrect your character: Consider skipping Bonemass and using the stagbreaker to find silver. Silver is often found near mountain structures, and skipping the boss will eliminate wolf raids. When a vegvisir turns your character in the direction of a boss, use a build piece like a ladder and point it in that direction. When you head toward the boss and get turned around because of mob fights, the ladder will still always point toward the boss. This also works with vegvisirs in dungeons.
@@manguy01 After reading your comment, I decided to test this (5-1-24). The Stagbreaker still shows "Too Hard" when struck over a silver vein. You might be confusing the Stagbreaker with the Iron Sledge, which does indeed show "O" instead of "Too Hard."
Congratulations! great video! can't wait to see the next 100 days... Btw Pro tips for finding your way back without a map is use Ygdrasil and the sun to see which way you're heading and bonfires on top of mountains and by the shore when you go sailing, building multiple of them is key
Excellent stuff. Really enjoyed it. I think you would be better served by putting up the blob head and using his power. It seems that some melee resistance would be welcome. Then again it would remove some og the difficulty. Anyway it was a great watch and I really want to thank you for all the hours of playing and editing you put in. Looking forward to the next episode.
The use of the hoe for mapless navigation is a great idea - but if you right-clic and choose 'pathen', you can tamp-out paths without having all the terrain-modification that goes with it (which can be messy and also a pretty hefty load on the processor/memory)... just sayin ;) Definitely looking forward to the rest of this video (yeah, paused quickly to write this!) also, when sailing, if the wind is against you, just furl the sails up (since they're useless) and go forward by paddle (only one ^ ) until it changes direction.

if forced to travel into the wind in a ship, only go at 1 arrow speed and you will row instead of relying on the wind great content!

40:50 if you use speed number 1 then the sails won't go down but you will use the rudder and can sail at a consistent speed with no wind

Upgraded bucklers are the best for parrying. I can't tell what you're using but if you take damage that means it needs upgraded

A true hardcore game would be no respawn after death

Silver is often found near mountain structures, and skipping the boss will eliminate wolf raids. When a vegvisir turns your character in the direction of a boss, use a build piece like a ladder and point it in that direction. When you head toward the boss and get turned around because of mob fights, the ladder will still always point toward the boss. This also works with vegvisirs in dungeons.
I do this normally but I fight bonemass in silver gear. His power is too useful to never acquire.
Stagbreaker strat was patched out. It shows "0" now like any piece of dirt instead of "Too Hard"

@@manguy01 After reading your comment, I decided to test this (5-1-24). The Stagbreaker still shows "Too Hard" when struck over a silver vein. You might be confusing the Stagbreaker with the Iron Sledge, which does indeed show "O" instead of "Too Hard."

Congratulations! great video! can't wait to see the next 100 days... Btw Pro tips for finding your way back without a map is use Ygdrasil and the sun to see which way you're heading and bonfires on top of mountains and by the shore when you go sailing, building multiple of them is key

Excellent stuff. Really enjoyed it. I think you would be better served by putting up the blob head and using his power. It seems that some melee resistance would be welcome. Then again it would remove some og the difficulty. Anyway it was a great watch and I really want to thank you for all the hours of playing and editing you put in. Looking forward to the next episode.

The use of the hoe for mapless navigation is a great idea - but if you right-clic and choose 'pathen', you can tamp-out paths without having all the terrain-modification that goes with it (which can be messy and also a pretty hefty load on the processor/memory)... just sayin ;) Definitely looking forward to the rest of this video (yeah, paused quickly to write this!)
also, when sailing, if the wind is against you, just furl the sails up (since they're useless) and go forward by paddle (only one ^ ) until it changes direction.
How can you have all this time in valheim, and not know how to sail????
