    Looks rather interesting. If the solution is more dilute you get smaller dots. The most important thing is rapid mixing and absolute lack of oxygen and water. Try the reaction using microwave heating. That works extremely well for creating organic semiconductor based quantum dots. 🤓😁❤

    In my lab practice, I create a vacuum in a flask and then introduce argon. My question is about the vacuum time: Is it sufficient to stop when the manometer shows -1000 mbar (which happens almost immediately), or should I hold the vacuum for a bit longer to ensure the system is fully evacuated?

    Not sure why you say you must use TOPSe in glove box or not do it at all. Its oxygen sensitive and toxic sure (as with a lot of QD synthesis), but you are acting as if its pyrophoric or seriously dangerous when its not. There is a paper in chemical education which showcases CdSe QD synthesis with non-air-free techniques and the synthesis is designed specifically for undergraduates.
