That's harsh dude! Not everyone is as handy as the expert handyman and has the experience that others have. At least he's doing it. And it's working. It's going to work just fine when he's completed.
Russell, This is just a thought you're going to have to get that water tank up off the floor and away from the wall that cold water entering it is going to create condensation in Crete mold all over. You could have used a 50 gallon hot water heater where them are insulated for your holding tank. Mount your hose reel to the side of your house where you can take it on and off. I believe in time you're going to get a lot of runoff going into your well from the leaves and particles that are going to contaminate your water.
I'm telling you Russell, that intro music does something good to my soul. Thank you for the two-part series, that was awesome. I do prefer a longer video than a series unless it goes past an hour and a half to 2 hours? LOL and it's also very awesome that you have running water in your cabin finally❤❤
I loved part 1 and part 2. Never have I appreciated running water more than after watching this! I feel your satisfaction in doing the project by yourself. Through trial and error, you have water in your cabin, Russell! 🎉 CG will be so happy!!! ❤
Fyi, I used an RV pump in my cabin similar to your plan. I ended up adding a 1 gal pressure tank so my pump wouldn't kick on and off as I ran the water. I noticed yours did it for a short time while it was filling the filters. Good luck getting everything hooked up.
It comes on when u run the water for more then 10 seconds and will continue to run until I turn the faucet off. It keeps the pump from kicking on and of super fast. You may not need one if you gpm on your pump is less than the flow at the shower or faucet.
Very nice Russell,, happy for you to be figuring things out and have the water flowing Awesome ! ,,I see June bug was enjoying you serenading her lol, such a cute girl.. This is a live & learn project Pay NO attention to the Trolls they are always lurking , My son gets them on his channel too. as do other TH-camrs .lol. You can always put the pipe insulation around your hose for winter.. I can hear the shower running now Oh ya . Love the two part...
I have a well with a hydrant for my camp. I wanted to extend my hunting season without the hose freezing. I insulated the hydrant and hose with pipe insulation and used a heat cable about 50ft. It draws 8 watts per foot so about 400 watts. You have quite a bit longer of a run and it would probably kill your batteries but boy is it nice to have a shower and running water at the start of winter.
Nice job, Russell. Coiling 200' of that hose or any hose, for that matter, is going to be a chore. But on the bright side, you're getting some upper body exercising in to go along with the cardio, up & down four times, every time. Congratulations on reaching your goal. I'm looking forward to parts 3,4,5, and any upgrades that you make as you go along. As always, keep up the good work. Peace ✌️
I LOVE the 2 parts!!!! That means 2 videos! YAY! Thank you for going to the trouble, of taking us along on your journey....Im sure TH-cam dont pay much, so, I know you not doing it for the money...lol Iv watched you for years, and I look for ward to many more!!! I saw that comment, of Larrys....Pay no mind to people like that, as most of them hate themselves, not you. Peace , my friend!!!! xoxooxo
2 videos were COOL. I prefer that to one long video personally. So glad you finally have water that will be going to the cabin. Huge game changer for sure.
I really like the 2 part video Russell. You are working so hard, I’m glad it’s all going the way you wanted it to. So glad you have water in the cabin now.
I definitely like the two part format inste4ad of one extra long video. I'm glad the water is working out. I can't imagine how much more convenient (and cheaper!) it will be then hauling it in from town all the time, though come the warm weather I'd replace that two part tubing in the well with a single long piece. Even with filters you can't be too careful making sure the water is safe to drink.
OK, I may have missed something but you did put the filters before the water goes into the water heater. If not….your heater will fill up with sediment. Russell, you are so easy to listen to, that I find I just turn up the volume on the TV and keep listening. It’s a great day to be Canadian!🤣🇨🇦
Russell, i loved your 2 part video. This was a great video. Im so happy you finally have cabin water. Yay for you. You are so entertaining. Dont change a thing.
Loved the two parter! I was thinking after part one, oh crap, gotta wait til next week to see how it goes! Such a treat to see it today! Great job Russell! I always thought June Bug was older than Willow. City Girl is really going to love having running water! ❤
Another great video series. This is very exciting having water in the cabin. I’m really happy for you guys! Great job. Looking forward to the next video.
You're doing good. Get some foam caulk in a can and close the holes around the hose up. If you can adjust the pump, run your water slow all the time. Running water wont freeze. Or maybe a shutoff valve in your tank in the house
Looks good Russell. Just have to replace that plastic vinyl Florida hose for good rubber hose. + Patch that hole under the cabin first chipmunk to seize it call all his friends. I have Gates rubber garden hose industrial +. It's been inside and out and I acquired it in 1969. It's well worth the money. No idea what it is now. Okay thanks for everything. Talk to you later
Russell you should hang a 110volt bulb in your well and keep it covered and that bulb will generate enough heat to keep your well from freezing, just a thought, good luck
I would find the biggest screws that fit inside the slotted spots on that hose reel and Mount them on a piece of plywood. Or if they happen to line up with your slats on the side of your cabin and Mount the reel to the side of the cottage just by hanging it every time you need to use the hose and then just unhook it and take it in
add a spin down filter before the tank ... removes large particles , and it is cleanable . .. add a small pressure tank to your pressure pump from reverse osmosis system
I enjoy watching you reason your way through the various processes in your projects. Your self-effacing humour always makes me chuckle. My thoughts are purely based on curiosity, not criticism. Would the system work just as well by routing the well water directly through the filters first? Then you would be pumping already filtered water from your holding tank secondarily, hopefully increasing the water pressure in the cabin plumbing. Would that work as well, better, or not at all? Blessings, from Pastor Ralph Yarn, Dartmouth, NS (formerly in Bloomfield 1998 - 2001)
Russel ou should put some quick connect fittings on yourgarden hose at the well pump ! Its a lot easier . But get the ones without the check valve in it so the house hose will drain itselfafter you disconnect it and not freeze up on you !
Hi Russell, the chrome rod looks like a cleaning rod and the black plastic thing at the end of the video looks like a pickup for the end of a hose, it keeps the hose from getting stuck to the bottom of the container it is sucking the fluid out of.
Ignore the hecklers. You're doing great. I've not gotten to the end of the vid yet, but was wondering if you're going to insulate that garden hose and with what. I'm curious to learn. Funny that I recently purchased hoses exactly like those. Matches the red broom that CG was using a couple years ago, which I also own. It's fun watching you figure things out as you go, and as cost effectively as you can. But where is Ray for his two-cents or two-thousand dollars? :)
Great stuff! Running water at your cabin....luxury! I have built a similar sysyem at our cabin and fill the 45 gallon tank from the lake. Our 3 stage filter is used in the RV during summer and at the cabin for winter use. The noise from the pump is eventually not even noticed....kind of like living beside a railway track and not hearing the teain once you're used to it. Any update on your chimney cap from a couple vids ago? Still burning and staying warm so assuming all is good hopefully? Keep living the dream Russel!
If I may suggest, in the spring drive some stakes in the ground around your well and wrap it in chicken wire or put a 12 volt electric fence around the perimeter
Great 2 parter, love it all. Steel wool and spray foam hole. Overlap slit pieces of hardware cloth nailed to floor joists to discourage critters. Bulge is concerning, on tank, not you.
Definitely fill the hole with steel wool and put a piece or 1 by 6 under it no critters no problem! Put some or that insulation pipe cover on that hose to!🍻
How will you keep the hose from freezing during the winter? Rolling it up after pumping into the tank and leaving it out will cause water left in the hose to freeze up.That plastic hose is not the best for your application. Perhaps a material that is resistant to cold environments. Worst case scenario, you end up with above freezing usage
Just a suggestion use a rubber hose they cost more but there is less aggravation than using plastic hose in cold weather and they last longer we have one that is over fifty years old and is still in use.
Good job, Russell! I was wondering if it would be feasible to let the long hose simply drain back into the well when not in use? If empty it won't freeze and no need to reel it in.
Yay good work getting water in the cabin. No judgement, just curiosity, why didn’t you finish the bathroom floor before you installed the water tank? What plans have you thought of to plug up the hole under the cabin where the water hose comes out so rodents don’t find their way in the cabin?
This guy is just too hard to watch. Definitely not all there no common sense whatsoever.
Should have had septic, well and driveway built before building your home. Saved so much, money, energy and time.
He's just figuring things out on the fly.
Ya, buts it’s entertaining if nothing else. Plus, ya gotta like the guy🤷♂️
When they say Off Grid this is what you should expect, flying by the seat of your pants.
That's harsh dude! Not everyone is as handy as the expert handyman and has the experience that others have. At least he's doing it. And it's working. It's going to work just fine when he's completed.

@moneydog6464 yes if you're pumping cold water into a warm cabin, this will be true
I'm telling you Russell, that intro music does something good to my soul. Thank you for the two-part series, that was awesome. Yay!! Water!!! Way to go Russell!!! 🎉
Great job Russel. You are very creative and entertaining. The water is a game changer.
I dont mind long videos...most I watch are well over an hour long...its enjoyable, like watching a movie💜
Fyi, I used an RV pump in my cabin similar to your plan. I ended up adding a 1 gal pressure tank so my pump wouldn't kick on and off as I ran the water. I noticed yours did it for a short time while it was filling the filters. Good luck getting everything hooked up.
Now that's interesting. With the pressure tank, how often does your pump come on?
It comes on when u run the water for more then 10 seconds and will continue to run until I turn the faucet off. It keeps the pump from kicking on and of super fast. You may not need one if you gpm on your pump is less than the flow at the shower or faucet.

It might work for Russell as well since he can just bury a water pipe for a good part of the way to the cabin.
I like the long videos as well. Good job on getting water to the cabin! City girl will love it!

2 part videos are great!! Whatever you have the time for, I have plenty of time to watch them.
Nice job on the well and water system. Congratulations on the indoor plumbing.

Congrats on your water “ project “ ! Love the two parts .
Russell, i loved your 2 part video. This was a great video. Im so happy you finally have cabin water. Yay for you. You are so entertaining. Dont change a thing.
So great, good job. Love this video of your dealing with your water installation 👍
You never let anything beat you . Good for you , you worked really hard at this , love watching your videos
Great job very interesting only Russell fans understand his logic ❤❤ luv the 2 part stay tune for part 3😊
You're doing good. Get some foam caulk in a can and close the holes around the hose up. If you can adjust the pump, run your water slow all the time. Running water wont freeze. Or maybe a shutoff valve in your tank in the house
Not necessarily true!
So great, fun to watch Russell!😊

Russell you should hang a 110volt bulb in your well and keep it covered and that bulb will generate enough heat to keep your well from freezing, just a thought, good luck
Get some straw bales to put around the well casing to help prevent freezing, or bank snow when you get some.
Wow, just wow.
Time for a beer!! Sit in front of fire as dinner cooks. Relax. Very productive day.
Great job Russell. I liked the part 1, part 2 split. It must be so nice to have water in the cabin.
Good job Russell.
You have the patience of a saint and you are working in winter conditions. Woo Hoo!❤
2 part video's are fine with me, I mean I get to see more of Russell's antics, Cheers Australia
2 full length videos in two days!? What a treat! Thanks Russell!
Always fun and entertaining! Stay warm Russ
Bugs follow water so seal the end of the green hose or you may find bugs in the tank when spring comes.
I would find the biggest screws that fit inside the slotted spots on that hose reel and Mount them on a piece of plywood. Or if they happen to line up with your slats on the side of your cabin and Mount the reel to the side of the cottage just by hanging it every time you need to use the hose and then just unhook it and take it in
Good job mate, you got it working. You just need to mount the solidly for easier use. Cheers 😊
looking forward to your in house ice maker . Thanks Russell!
Great video Russ. Love to see your progress regarding your water.
add a spin down filter before the tank ... removes large particles , and it is cleanable . .. add a small pressure tank to your pressure pump from reverse osmosis system
I get my weekly laughs from reels and this channel. Russel never ceases to amaze me.
Splendid! Absolutely Splendid! Good job Russell you're on the right track bud!
That hose is not designed for cold weather but it’s good entertainment 😀

Happy that you got water to the cabin with a few laughs thrown in too, love the longer videos Russell💙💙
Great job getting water to the cabin, I had my doubts when you started digging the well.
Happy new year to you both and your family. I enjoyed the two parts video thanks for the entertainment.

Your getting there Russell. Great video, love what you are doing, for your location.
Awesome content. I love watching your videos.
If I may suggest, in the spring drive some stakes in the ground around your well and wrap it in chicken wire or put a 12 volt electric fence around the perimeter
Russell, to blow the water out of your hose, get an RV Blowout adapter, one with a tire stem tip, so you can hook it up to a portable tire inflator.
or a air matress blower
Thank you for that smile I needed it today ☺️
water in your cabin is a game changer.
I am very impressed with that remote can’t believe how well it works. Where did you get it from?
Always enjoy your videos .
For the hole steel wool or foil tape
Get a gravity filter that filters out protozoans and bacteria for drinking to be certain.
Russell, congratulations on the water. You makes us 😊
City girl is going to be happy, water running in the cabin 😃
Congrats on having running water in the cabin. A real improvement to your quality of life.
Nice job thanks for sharing
You are a pretty smart guy! ❤
Happy water tank Saturday Canada 🇨🇦🏠🐕🦺🦮✌️✌️👍👍✌️
Put air hose connection on hose in house, then use air compressor to blow hose out and you won't have to roll hose up all the time.
Put some or that insulation pipe cover on that hose to!🍻

could you insulate the hose, like you do pipes to keep them from freezing, then cover your well top ?
that way you don't have to roll the hoses up.??
One step closer, good luck. ✌️🍲. Keep on doing what you do 👍 with the videos
Happy for you Russell! Enjoy your next shower!
This is so great Russell so so happy for you! How was the first shower?
Long videos are good just to watch you think on the fly but very entertaining keep on truckin and pay no heed to negative comments.
Bolt it down to that big ass rock.this is the funniest part you and that reel
ikr. I had to laugh too. He is so entertaining. In a good way.
your pump should be closer to floor level or that pump will burn out sooner than later . those pumps are meant to push water more than pull water
Way to go my man!
Great job Russell. Ignore the haters!
good job Russell...huge improvement to your quality of life
Yay good work getting water in the cabin. No judgement, just curiosity, why didn’t you finish the bathroom floor before you installed the water tank? What plans have you thought of to plug up the hole under the cabin where the water hose comes out so rodents don’t find their way in the cabin?
I prefer an hour or more
Fantastic about water
Good job Russ, pea soup home slice.
Long ones or .2 parted.. all works for me.. pretty happy for you.. bet you wish you did that in warmer weather ..lol.. anyway good on you!!🩷☮️
Hey Russell, not sure if you will have any condensation issue with the water tank...
Ziploc and Zip Ties. Who knew. :)
I was just wondering why you didn't use pex line for the fill line
Forgot to add reel. Mount the reel solidly. 😮
You only need 1 GFI outlet in a circuit.
