    Nice video. After reading your comments on our FB group, I watched your video! Love your family in the video. We are from Gulf Breeze living in Bham now. Our 23 Maverick hybrid lost around 5-7mpg with my rack and kayak cradles. I couldn't break 32mpg. After pulling them off, mileage increased to 38-41mpg. Next time heading up or down I65, stop at the Evergreen exit and visit the Conecuh sausage visitors center. They have sausage dogs cooked and all sorts of yummy protein! Good video and thanks for sharing!

    Keep up the good work and FB posts! And yeah, Atlanta sucks big-time getting through there. I used to go through every week on my route and traffic was always a disaster.

      Thanks! I've done Atlanta a few times this year and it's always insane! Seeing downtown is still pretty cool though, if you aren't in a hurry...

    I’d love to get the hybrid.
    However, they don’t come with the 4 wheel drive…… with the weather we don’t need it all the time, but when you do, you NEED it

      I hear that! That was part of my decision too. I originally wanted a hybrid but I do a lot of exploring off the road and also plan to move back north within a year or 2, so I wanted capability in the snow

    Are these larger (taller) tires than stock? If so that could be throwing your speedometer an odometer off by a bit making the dash fuel mileage calculation off as well.

    Will that box rack interfere with adding a box cover so you can have your stuff completely covered and out of site and still have to rack with the tent on it?

      So with these Xtrusion Overland racks, they are built to where you can rider them with the wide wing brackets and if you get one that is tal enough, you can install a Soft Topper cover underneath the rack so you can have a completely enclosed bed, and still have the rack and the tent on top. I don't think you can put the Ford hard topper under these racks of thats what you were asking, but the soft toppers fit if you spec the rack correctly. I plan to DIY build my own soft topper to fit under the rack and enclose the bed eventually! 😊

    Nice vid...curious why 93 octane premium?...you do that every fill up or just once in a while when on the road?

    • @maverickoverlandadventures

      Thanks! I run 93 in my Maverick all the time since brand new. I do this because it drastically increases the performance and efficiency of the engine, and can also contribute to its longevity. Small turbocharged engines like the Ecoboost 2.0 tend to do much better on premium.
      The Maverick's manual states that 87 is the minimum that can be used, however premium is what is recommended, and it even goes on to state that in extremely hot climates using 87 can drastically reduce performance which I've actually tried and seen first hand since I live in Florida. I put 87 in last week actually and my fuel economy tanked by a LOT. Well under 20mpg in my city on normal driving, where I usually get 24mph+ on premium. The estimated range on that full tank of 87 was also only around 280 miles, vs. my normal estimated range of nearly 350 miles.
      Ill likely do a video on all of this soon, but for now I hope that info helps answer the question.

      High compression, turbo charged engines used to require higher octane fuel. Direct injection, high speed digital controls, newer fuel injector designs, and advanced knock sensors changed the game somewhat. Now days, they can run on 87 but you have to take it on faith that the engine management system is on top of the game. Kia Hyundai did this and on some early engines, the controls weren’t up to snuff. It required some engine replacements.
      If regular is allowed but premium is recommended, you can be sure that there’s some DI knock management at work. So it boils down to how confident are you in the trick dynamic engine mapping used to make 87 work and your appetite to more expensive fuel. My advice is use 91 minimum because that’s what the applicant would call for without depending on a specialized fuel map using the knock sensors. You need to get knock first for the engine to apply the map down to 87 For me, I would rather have the power and efficiency of running the engine where it thrives instead of suppressing to run at 87.

    just curious is it legal to put tinted windows in ur area?

    • @maverickoverlandadventures
      @maverickoverlandadventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is. All the Mavericks come with tinted windows though. Most places it is only illegal to add it aftermarket. If it is stock it is usually legal
