It used to be called hard trance back in the day as hardstyle was not yet established as a genre Hardstyle music actually takes influence and is inspired by trance music in some ways and some could say that hardstyle originates from trance music The older generation hardstyle artists like Technoboy, isaac actually started out with trance music whereas artists like the Prophet started out with hardcore/gabber music. Classic Hardcore/gabber and hardtrance both then came together to create the genre which we know today called Hardstyle which then bought about artist like Headhunterz Wildstylez Noisecintrollers. These guys innovated the scene so much and bought about a new wave of young hardstyle talents like Sub zero project, D sturb, phuture noize etc
