    I ALMOST got this figure set, but when I found my unbuilt model kit of the Redbird, well, you saw mine...I went nuts with that one. But this is a very cool figure set! Thanks for reviewing!

      I still need to get that Redbird model kit. Your one looks great.

      @@1995Batman They are out there still. Not cheap, nor easy to build. But YOU need one. For sure!

    This is easily one of my favorite pieces from the Batman & Robin toy line, and has a proud and welcome place in my collection.
    Very ICE review. Thanks for the review!

      Really? Interesting. Why is it your favourite?

    Another great review, thank you for your analysis and light hearted approach to Kenner's thoughts into the design. I now always think of the timeframe Kenner were under to come up with such a vast product line for the film in a short amount of leadway.
    I admire what you said about each figure trying to look distinctive with their own colour scheme. I think back to the Forever line and their designs and detail were vastly far more superior. The B&R just felt a little basic in terms of their detail, but that's just my view and also with what Kenner had to work with.
    Really disappointing how the figure sits on the bike, I didn't expect that! It reminded me of the Manta Ray Batman figure and how it could fit into position. If only they made a hole at the top of the bike for Robin to perch into and still look up.
    The bike had a lot of features than I expected. The rocket gag really were a thing in this toy line. I remember the rocket launcher on the legs of the Mr Freeze figure having a similar effect.
    I think one or two of the BTAS figures had a similar style of cape, I think one cape attachment actually fired and had a claw shaped fitting to it. I liked the acrylic capes for the Forever line, it gave a more authentic look to the figures and handy to help make the figure stand up.
    I enjoy these reviews as I see so many figures I didn't know existed which had some sort of flaw but very nostalgic to see.

      Yeah I feel the same. When you put the Batman Forever toyline and B&R toyline side by side you can see a quality difference. I think it was a case of Kenner trying to produce too much in too small a time (the B&R line had over 40 figures!). And there seems to be a little bit of cost cutting on B&R (less paint, fewer springs, simplified play features). Like you say I still love these figures despite their flaws. There's nothing like them on toy shelves today.

    They could have made it less awkward if this Robin could bends his arms and knees.

    • @1995Batman
      @1995Batman  ปีที่แล้ว

      True, that would have made a lot of sense.

    That rocket underneath was probably developed for the jump from the statue during the Mr freeze chase. Looks similar to the rocket lift batman used to elevate his car for to drive on the wall.Must have been abandoned due to cost of filming

      Good point. That could be it. I can well believe the script (which is all Kenner would have had when they started designing the toys) would have some detail like that.

      @@1995Batman Alot of toy designs came from the script. I mentioned that on superhero stuff you should know podcast comment. If only the toy designs were incorporated properly into the movie. I believe that robin suit was supposed to be his ice armor. A same suit is present in the jet ski figure with different colors.

    • @1995Batman
      @1995Batman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I noticed that too - the Robin suit being on the illustration.

    Very cool figure!! It is interesting that they come in the same package, usually the figures are sold separately. An off topic question, have you ever played the B&R video game for the Playstation 1?

    • @1995Batman
      @1995Batman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I have. It's a nightmare to play because of the tank-like control scheme but I'll admit it's kind of fun cruising around a pixellated version of Barbara Ling's Gotham trying to stop Mr Freeze. I'm hoping to do a video one day. There's tons to unpack.

      @@1995Batman Yes, I agree! That game is very difficult but I think once you get comfortable with the gameplay mechanics it can be actually fun to play. I remember when I found out about its existence several years ago, I just couldn't believe it. The fact that it was based on this movie was a selling point for me, it gave me the chance to "drive" the 1997 Batmobile which is one my favorite versions of the car.

    Boy, that is odd where they placed the handle bars and the lack of headlights. In the film they're placed on top for him to hold onto so he can see where he's going!
