Production team did a fantastic job with going over textures and materials to make sure a bunch of ship models from different sources worked seamlessly together and fit the Prodigy aesthetic.
You know, now that I think about It, maybe the reason the ships aren't going all out to destroy each other is bacause they need to make sure to call as much help from other starfleet vessels, if the ships are completely destroyed they can't send the distress calls, so they are causing just as much damage they can without making the ships unable to call for help, the aim of the virus is to spread completely though federation space before completely destroying It.
The living construct appears to control each ship one at a time and keeps switching between them, that would explain why it was taking so long as it would fire once, switch ships and fire again. As for the lack of torpedo's that would easily be explained by the crew manually locking the tube hatches, or simply removing the torpedos from the launcher bay as soon as they realized they were being taken over.
Once I saw that Armada of Starfleet ships. I knew Trekyards would have a ball with it! I also noticed this is the same takeover that happened on Picard, except when the Borg took over and all the Starfleet ships glowed green.
It would explain why in Picard Season 1 Starfleet needed to build new kind of class of ships to restore it's numbers. So they mothballed old TOS ships, cut them on pieces in shipyards and build Inquiry-class ships.
Love y’all talking about ships again. Love the reviews and the lives. But it’s fun to see and hear all the details on the ships, the original reason for Trekyards. Great to hear guys.
It could be most of these ships have been equip with ablative Armour that the defiant had. An ablative armor can take a lot of punishment even without shields.
Red Historically in Animation means "evil"/"bad" and they made it all red simply as a visual cue to let the kids know the ships are now evil. Because at the end of the day this is a kids show.
There is even a argument to be made that what we see in ST content is always meant to be a representation of the "real events", not "historical footage". Think about it, noone would try to explain in-universe why there are reflections of the camera crew visible in episode xy ... or why Saavik looks drastically different ... a lot of inconsistencies can explained by this
Yes I said that too about the ship classes. They could have had a few Intrepid class ships in there and some Ambassador class, Excelsior class, Steamrunner class and Norway class ships too.
This fleet was magnificent to behold, although for me the best remains the second season of Picard. I find it hilarious how they forgot to make Sovereign's impulse engines. Would you say they were closed?
My headcanon is that the plasma mix and deflectors changed colour because they’re now using the Vau Na’kat standards because of The Living Construct. It’s not a perfect idea but sort of explains it.
A situation like this where a computer virus causes the ships to turn against one another really does beg the question: what do the all the crews do? It's always struck me that in a world with fantastical AI and technology such as transporters and replicators, that ships could be almost 100% automated pretty easily... and so the fact that we see crew doing stuff to operate and maintain the ships tells me that at the very least, they like to keep their skills in practice IN CASE they can't trust automation. Obviously not to the extent of Battlestar Galactica where computers aren't even networked, but still - it seem like there should be all sorts of manual bypasses available. Like, literally pull a giant switch or something that cuts power to the phasers.
I think the slow weapons damage was because if the first group of ships annihilated each other as fast as they could then more ships wouldn't have been able to be affected by construct and also destroyed. The point was to destroy as much of Starfleet as possible and it needed to attract the rest of the fleet to come to the battle with automated distress beacons
A civilization that only just met the interstellar community and devastated itself in a massive civil war still managed to make a virus that caused every Starfleet ship to attack each other, something the Cardassians, Romulans, Dominion and Borg were unable to do, just makes me shake my head.
Ships looked great, I figure they just come from sto since that's what Picard did but either way they look so "natural" in prodigy. The red was just a visual choice for sure, this is a kids show at the end of the day and red means bad lol
On the one hand, the model does not feature the Miranda class bridge module from the original kitbash so one might conclude that the saucer is a standard Excelsior class saucer. On the OTHER hand, I would argue that the Miranda torpedo module is an equally valid indicator of scale... unless we assume those torpedo tubes are just ridiculously big.
If you look at the model from Star Trek Resurgence, that torpedo module is replaced with a secondary hull and deflector. Which makes me think of the torpedo pod part as more of a secondary hull than a weapons module.
@@Optimusx1 yah i think even if it's a standard Miranda torpedo module, I don't think it's unreasonable to surmise that they may have modified it to house at least part of engineering. In my mind the bottom of the warp core extends into the module, but the upper half is in the saucer.
It’s all about what is scaled to what…. is it a standard Excelsior saucer or a standard Miranda weapons pod? I rewatched the DS9 episode where the Centaur appears, and it definitely looks 210m as stated in the official starships collection. I’m feeling Prodigy has scaled up according to the DS9TM. I looked at screenshots from the resurgence game, and the MSDs in the background appear to show only 5 or 6 decks. This is starting to bug me the way the Bird of Prey used to 10-20 years ago!
Defiant was by itself, but I don't understand why the fleet is entirely comprised of Sovereign, Akira, and Centaur. It's like the plot is to get rid of all of these older ships, especially the Centaur. I really hope Akira and Sovereign stick around longer
I now have to acknowledge my theory of prodigy in kelvin time line has died; I can’t deny I was wrong after this ship battle…. That’s how u admit you were wrong
@@TIG5574 they did but so many things pointed to kelvin timeline but once I saw the other ships in the episode my theory imploded. I still hold to the reasons why I believed it but can’t refute what we saw on prodigy this week
Yea the prodigy having Kelvin design feature was just Kurtzman butting his nose in. He still desperate to keep his Kelvin idea with in star trek and not giving a shit about consistency.
@@DavidKnowles0 well he sure got me, Star Trek has done some big misdirections in the past and those nacels on both the dauntless and protostar really got my mind going. I was waiting for this view and my question is why are nacels so different for dauntless abs protostar; maybe change in tech? Also the big thing was WHY HAVE WE NOT HEARD OF SLIPSTREAM in Picard. Like this episode happened before Romulus sun exploded. I would think slipstream ships would move civilians quickly. The fact never heard the word “slipstream” in Picard is suspicious since that is about 20 years after this episode occured
@@DavidKnowles0 I disagree, I think Prodigy having the Kelvin design features was their own doing. The Kelvin timeline is made based on ships in this era so I think they're making ships in this era have Kelvin stuff in them
To be fair, the idea was to cripple Starfleet, not carry out a genocide. These were angry people who had seen their world torn apart, not mustache twirling psychos. My take was that they wanted the ships to tear themselves apart but still allow themselves some moral high ground by giving crews time to evacuate.
Everything looked nice, but technically this wasn't a 'battle', where was the Opposing force? When the latter is there, physically...then you can call it a 'battle'. Added--During the DW in DS9, the 7th Fleet composed over 700 plus ships. None survived. Mentioned in a battle briefing.
In the recent videos they show the picture of the nacelle blurry but you can see there's an E on it. They talked about one of the sovereigns and the back of the saucer with the big grey squares that are empty.
C'mon guys ... the reason every light source on the ships turned red was to make it VERY clear that they became EVIL. You can't say "this is a kids' show" about one thing, then dismiss that conceit when it comes to starships simply because that's this channel's bread and butter.
I allowed for the red lights on all the ships because this is still a show geared towards kids. The red lights tell kids instantly that the ships are compromised by the Living Construct. An artistic choice for clarity that breaks the technical reality of Trek isn't that egregious to me.

Exactly
Honestly it works even as an adult I admit it looks awesome changing to red when they warp in and start firing in on each other, simple but effective
@@BritneyLaZonga ah yes, the historical documents

Make the crews suffer sure, but also prolong the battle so the ships distress call can reach more ships and more ships come in and get effected.

Nope! no assets from sto this time. We have videos on each ship class to show which was from where and how close to studio model! stay tuned!
Just noticed - ~13:45, on the left we see what appears to be (NCC)-63546. Looks like USS Thunderchild survived First Contact and the Dominion War.
The Enterprise E had better not get a puff of smoke . It’s getting old killing Enterprise in trek movies and shows
the windows on all the ships are all weirdly extruded outwards
I hope to hear about the Centaur size, whether it’s 210m or the larger size from the DS9TM.
About sizes, STO seems to use 210m. I’m wondering because this will have some relevance to the Centaur in the upcoming Resurgence game.
