Thanks. Finally someone shows the thermal switches that work at boiling point. as opposed the ultimate thermal switch for safety when the pot runs dry.
Nice just What i need i have a School project in fyssics where i need to generate Steam for a model turbine and would rather melt a kettle to death than spaming the button each time it boils cuz its first when it boils it really gets enough Steam flowing.
Hey just one question, can i replace the bimetallic switch on the handle of the kettle with a normal inline switch that is rated for 230v 13A(I live in India and that is the wall outlet supply here)? The switch broke and I am not able to find replacements. and I would just have to throw. Logically it is just a switch and I can just replace it and also I anyway stay near the kettle till my water is heated to sufficient level, so I never actually used the auto turn off ever. I just fear I may short the connection because I may be missing something in that switch.
Kettle in family home will not auto switch off. I check the biometric disc (beneath the switch), it's fine. It flexs when heated and fully connects with the switch, yet will not trigger the switch when powered on. Kettle water just boils, boils, and boils away, rocking and shaking. Steam wand inside is not blocked and channels well onto the biometric disc (lid is on/shut). Completely perplexed with the unit at this point 😦😕.
hmmm sometimes they will flex but not fully snap open and they DO start to 'wear' over time where, like if I use a lighter it will pop right open since it is a high heat but at a lower heat like boiling water it won't budge - I've seen that before...I guess what I'm getting at is that it still may be that switch...throw it into some boiling water (after taking it out of course) and see if it pops that way, not using a direct flame. If it does not then thats still your problem. If the contacts ARE opening and it is still not turning off then you have a short somewhere and that safety switch does nothing - in that case I'd say toss it (i just saw this comment is months old so you probably have a new one but I wrote so much that i HAVE to hit reply now haha!) :)
@@adamhoca7127 Ours has three bi-metal switches inside also. I swapped the bi- metal switches around, no difference. Yes, a new kettle was bought, but we still have the faulty one. Thanks for your response, interesting. 🙂👍
my kettle has started turning on and off whilst the switch is down.ive checked the base unit for any loose connections and cant find any, could the problem be the switch not connecting properly?
Hi Adam many thanks for the explanation - I tried fixing Kettles at a repair café today - wish I'd watched this first - well should do better next time!
Ha ya know the funny thing is, i didnt think this would EVER help ANYONE but I had just gotten SOOOOO fed up with buying new ones and rewiring them when they failed that I made a vid about it....anyways, if you DO happen to by pass a safety switch of course do so at your own risk....i literally HAVE melted plastic on these so be careful (and i don't really suggest it), but yea in a pinch it can work!

Thank you for the explanation and demonstration, very good job

That’s an awfully hot coffee pot
Should I drop it on Donald Trump? Probably not
But that’s all I got ’til I come up with a solid plot
I'll leave that up to you - but you know lots of people are telling me that you should haha ;)
