Thanks for all your support from the last channel update! Enjoy regular Sunday programming 😊 I am currently in Baku, Azerbaijan, having arrived from Istanbul’s New Airport last night. That’ll be the next video on this channel, landing to the public next week!
Hope you enjoy this novel little flight as much as I did 😊
(*yes, there’s a minor sound blip at the end - the missing words are “and that’s it for another trip report, and I’m here in Wick” 🤷🏼‍♂️)

Those are my favourite ones. The best flights I ever experienced were in January 2002 with a now defunct airline called Skyways between Arlanda and Storuman. It was a Fokker 50 jet and the propellers made a huge racket. It was snowing very heavily when I arrived which made the landing all the more fun.

7:37 - Something quite interesting about RAF Skitten is how even though it's now partly in use as a quarry, the company operating the quarry have used the positioning of the runways as the dig site, so the excavation still looks like a runway from above!

Paul! Outstanding. Crap, everyone is doing travel now--but none as good as you! All the major cities have been covered--but who will show you Wick? Only you Paul.
And I care because I'm going to Scotland in the next 1 to 2 years, traveling the distilleries for 2 weeks, seeing the sights in the far northern reaches.
A suggestion--you need to morph yourself from a train and plane Travel Channel, into more of a comprehensive Travel Channel, such as a Rick Steves type production. Where to stay in Wick, culture of Wick, where to eat, etc.
You can spend a year in Scotland! where to go on Mull, where to go on Islay, how to get to and see and sample the whiskeys. Which BnB's to stay in.....
Love your stuff glad you're going full time looking forward to great productions

Paul (I haven't watched the video yet, as I was surfing your website), we have quite a bit in common. My family traveled a lot during my upbringing and instilled the bug in me. We were all up and down the eastern US every summer. I traveled a bit as an adult, too. I lived in Switzerland for a while and loved it. But, I was in Civil Air Patrol in the late '70s (yes, I'm old) and met some RAF cadets during a glider experience. The gliders were so cool. Quietly...well, gliding...through the air. So peaceful. Civil Air Patrol really helped shape me into who I am today. I wish I had stayed in longer, but I got married and life goes on. In any case, it was great to read your bio and learn this little nugget of info. Now, onto the video... :)

When I first arrived at Aberdeen Dyce in January 1979 the 'new' lounge was being planned, the taxi driver who took me to my meeting told me it was soon going to have a major new by-pass round the city, the new by-pass was opened about 3 months ago (It bankrupted Carillion)! While there I flew to Wick on the same flight as Paul except it was a British Airways 'Budgie' (HS 748) which did the flight! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, great little video!

  • @amc3
    @amc3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Quite ironic, the Dash8 at Wick was initially registered as G-JEDO, by Flybe. It was then sold to Aeor Contractors in 2013. Wick is often used as a stop for ferry flights over the Atlantic. With the takeover by Connect Airways Flybe will shrink dramatically, staff, aircraft and routes will go. This flight along with others receive subsidies from the Scottish Government being classified as Life Line Services. Some may survive in the remote areas, its other routes that will go. I always enjoy your facts, comments and interesting add ons.

The other day I watched a flight report video from Santiago, Chile, a place that I visited 40 years ago. They now have a huge and ultramodern terminal there, but I recognized the remains of the old modest terminal I knew from the architecture, when they showed the area that is now the duty-free shopping arcade there. I wrote a comment telling them that what is now a small section of the terminal was the WHOLE terminal back then, and I got a reply from the channel owner saying he was very impressed by that.

Aloha from Hawai'i! You might be interested to know that short flights are a fact of life here in the Hawaiian Islands as well as their high cost. From Honolulu to Moloka'i (20 minutes via prop); Kaua'i (25 minutes via jet); Maui (30 minutes via jet); maybe 35 - 40 minutes to Hilo and Kona. As you know, take-offs and landings are airlines' greatest expense, if for nothing else than fuel consumption. Your videos have improved in quality so much over the years. You are producing excellent work. Mahalo nui (thank you very much). If you ever get to Hawai'i, or better yet if you ever get to fly the Micronesia island hopper, I hope you will contact me beforehand. (I'm a patreon under another name.)

Hey, only saw this one now I'm opening Patreon! Weird!
I like having the recording month added to the video.
Pleasant colour on the wall in that lounge. Very stylish and calm.
You do need to do a helicopter flight some day, that'd be cool for variety!
    Boarding through a long shed.
    Nice roar!
Pretty cool video indeed! Cool plane, cool route. Ridiculous price if not for a TH-cam video :D.

Paul, we all know your favourite feature of an airport lounge is a post mix machine

Hi Paul, Thanks very much for another brilliant trip report. My family and I are from Christchurch New Zealand and we really enjoy your trip reports !. Our city is famous for our earthquake that happened in February 2011 that wiped out most of our central city. Would you ever consider doing a trip report in New Zealand ? it would be fantastic to see one on here with our quirky airline. Air New Zealand is quite famous with there in flight safety videos. Thanks for the trip reports and keep up the great work.

Fab video. Love this aircraft, which eastern airways also use on the Cardiff CWL to Anglesey VLY route that I get to use frequently.

That's pretty cool to see an aircraft push back under it's own power.

Great videos Paul! Have you ever considered trying to fly corporate charter? You have not truly experienced flying until you have been on a Citation X. I fuel aircraft for a living at SFO and can say that charter is better than commercial, though a bit pricey.

Great video! You should definitely try out Widerøe, both their Dashes and their E190-E2s! :)

NORSHUTTLE I’m tempted to try Widerøe, they do a Twice a week flight to LPL (My local airport) on Monday’s and Thursdays, to and from Bergen, if I’m not mistaken it’s their furthest south UK route.

Not a flight you see often on TH-cam. Would be cool to see you review the inaugural Emirates A380 to Glasgow in April!

Well Paul you certainly achieved your goal of making a “ novelty and pretty cool video “ . I enjoyed it , it was different and interesting . Well done .
