    It's great to see this side of tai chi reresented. You can't throw a sloppy haymaker, get knocked out and say "boxing doesn't work." And being relaxed doesn't mean having the structural integrity of an overcooked noodle. As always, thank you for sharing this stuff on the TH-cam.

    Shirley, the fact that someone as experienced in the postures as you are can bring yourself back to real tution shows the kind of strength sorely lacking in much of the modern day training. I'm sure you'll make some of the most meaningful stides foward during this time; keep that cup empty! Great work D ...

    Yes, Damian is definitely a "grandmaster". I have been following both of you for a long time and I am glad to see that you two got together to show the real Tai chi. So much to learn!!!!

    This is it. In order to show how effective Tai Chi can be, we need to make sure we're doing an effective version of Tai Chi. This is the type of work that has real value for our community. Perhaps then, less people will wonder if Tai Chi is effective and more will wonder how Tai Chi can be effective.

    He's a good teacher isn't he? He's a trained fighter in another "harder" striking art I'm sure of it. The combat applications of Tai Chi are definitely hinted at here. And I can hear "New York City" in his accent. Queens? Bronx Maybe? This was a great video.

      My dude, they're doing it slow because doing it slow helps with the learning process. NOBODY is under the illusion that standing still in a fight or LEARNING IN A FIGHT is valid as a way to fight. You learn, and then you fight....so what's you're point? They're learning here not fighting so why say they can't do this in a fight? Learning to fight and fighting are different...

      @@davidgeldner2167 the principle of testing the frame is correct but the postures and the way he is testing are incorrect and the only result is confusing the lady. This is the result of the telephone whispering game, you hear something but you don't know exactly what it is and fill the blanks with whatever.

    • @davidgeldner2167

      @@5energies if it works, and she not confused but rather is becoming better at push hands then in what way is she being confused and in what way is it incorrect?
      instead of explicitly pointing any detail out, you're just stating trollish and dismissive remarks. What would be constructive would be to say "at __ part u need to do ___ or you will be pushed over" but you can't do that can you? Because you don't actually see anything that would result in poor form, you simply see something that isn't your way that you teach or that you were taught.
      It's sad you choose to be so entirely derogatory, dismissive and unhelpful. You could instead be helpful, if you have the skills you claim to have. You seem, however, to be more concerned with tradition than actual practice. And more concerned with proving others wrong than with showing anyone what's right.

    • @davidgeldner2167
      @davidgeldner2167 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@5energies When I critique Tai Chi I say something like "not bad, but you need to lower your center of gravity and widen your stance a bit while dropping your shoulders and releasing any tension in your arms..." See how that would be constructive? I don't simply say "No, that is wrong and bad and you're bad" like a literal troll.
      If your teacher didn't teach you humility or even respect then how well did they teach you, frankly?
