    I got my RT for my birthday this time last year. It had 4 stems, roughly 20cm in length each. It grew to 1m40 in filtered, natural light, ½ a metre from a South facing window.
    I propagated it for the 1st time last week (into water) & plan to take a few more cuttings for friends.
    Agreed, it was very easy to grow, & quite rewarding to see it change so much week to week (as someone new to plants) that was motivating to see it's growth.
    Highly recommend to anyone who can get their hands on 1 😍😍😍

      Yes! It is super fast grower! I hope it roots faster for you than it does for me. I also took a cutting last week for a friend! 🥳

    I bought a small Raphidophora tetrasperma from Gabriella plants in early summer. It’s doing very well and I will soon have to transplant it out of it’s 4 in pot. Your orchids are beautiful and I’m clapping loudly for a job well done.. I just ordered more grow lights because my plants are missing the summer light already. Winter is coming and the struggle is real for my sun loving plants. Great video and as always your sense of humor lifts my spirits!!!

      I am happy your Rhaphidophora is doing well! It is really a wonderful plant to grow, very satisfying in my opinion. Thank you for the orchids :) I am very happy when I get anything to bloom :D Ah yes, the days are very short here too and thankfully I have all the lights. I think my room would look like a dark cave with so many plants and only the light coming from the window.

    I love my tissue culture Rhaphidophora! I got it in April of this year and it has grown more since then all of my other plants put together, a champion grower! Also if a plant is rare in its natural habitat but the demand suddenly shoots up as fast as one of these things grows, I think it`s beneficial to TC mass produce it, it keeps the price low so more people can enjoy it, and more importantly it discourages poaching.

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I don't care it is TC, I am actually kinda glad. It is made affordable and the poaching is somewhat prevented by that. But for example, Alocasia zebrina is still being poached (in Phillpines I think?) It has been TC and it is available in many places, but they still take them from the wilderness. And it is also moderately rare in nature. I think I also read it is against the law to own one in a home there.

    I just took 2 cuttings last week from a large one on wood trellis. I planted 2 small ones in a pot with a wire support in a pole shape filled with bark. All are doing well. Did you tell us what fertilizer to use? Again, cheers I don't drink, but I did enjoy a root beer float while watching your video.

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the Rhaphidophora I put a small amount of slow release fertilizer in the potting mix (osmocote) and it will get water with around 400ppm RainMix (which is basically very weak, I use it for hoyas and orchids) but it is a good fertilizer because it has all necessary elements. Sometimes I will give it simply some seaweed fertilizer, and sometimes BioBizz Grow fertilizer (which is organic and not very strong, but I don't use it all the time as it doesn't have all the micronutrients). I am happy yours rooted so fast! Mine took a while to root in water!

    maybe your plant gave some calcium and magnesium! I use something called Calla Magic where the calcium and magnesium Are chelated . so they're easily absorbed I know from watching Rick's orchids on TH-cam that orchids are calcium Hogs but many other plants need calcium for new growth so maybe if you added that to your water but you have to add it first if you're going to add any other fertilizers the lease would get bigger just a suggestion and sometimes the microphone on my cell phone keyboard doesn't hear the word correctly so you might see a strange word because I just notice it said leaseinstead of leaves. great video I have this plan that mine is tissue culture I bought two so maybe I'd have a bigger plant they sure do like water they dry out really quickly but they're still in the original Little Nursery pot. I bought mine from Steve's leaves

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do give them both calcium and magnesium :) I use RainMix now for my epiphytic plants, it is a new fertililzer I am trying out. The formula is the same as MSU fertilizer in the US (or very similar). It is supposed to do wonders for orchids!

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
