I cannot be the only American who’s recently been sucked into a binge of these Chinese dramas like Ruyis Royal Love or freaking Story of Yanxin Palace (I’m sorry for any miss spellings English is my only language I’m just stupid)

I have watched "the wolf" best one so far, royal feast, court lady, song of youth, ruya's palace, yangxzi palace and this one. I'm in love with these dramas

Lol....remember when the Emperor literally kicked his butt? I really like their silly interaction, as well as his chemistry with Ying Luo. So good to see Consort Shu, Li gong gong, the maid who played Jixiang, Prince He and even Ling Long too.

Omg, I 'm really happy to see familiar 'Yanxi Palace' faces/actors and actresses again. Spotted almost half a dozen on here, hehe love Yanxi and the characters too, missed them, and found them on here.
I have just finished watching 'The Story of Yanxi Palace', which is incredibly amazing, brilliantly written, and an all time great historical based on a true story C-drama one of my favourites.

i was SO happy to find this. zixin jiang (mingyu) and yixi zhang (jixiang) have returned, too, and it feels like a reunion of the best maids yanxi palace had to offer. 😭
This drama does something that many dramas fail to do: an attention-grabbing musical introduction. While some dramas can get away with it by having a good story, many people get turned away by the first thing they witness. It is because the quality of the introduction sets the tone for the rest of the drama, sort of like the first day of the year. Also, if the quality of a drama is good, chances are, the introduction will also be good since it takes a lot of effort to produce something of good quality. This is why episode 1's of dramas often have the most views. Of course, people get turned away for other things but for the most part, to capture a wider audience, the introduction must be enrapturing.
Quality production! Great actors!!
Same goes for ‘Ashes of Love’. But both the music and story or gorgeous so we’ll have to see where this one stands
I keep thinking about this drama over and over again JUST BECAUSE of the opening. Like, there are so many shots that are just SO good. The empress seemingly watching them like she's planning around them? When the soldiers are charging and the shot pans up and the trees become the hafts of arrows? Incredible. Cinematic poetry.
My favorite is the end credits scene which shows the transition between the two empires and the people involved. It shows Hao Lan when she is first starting out, and then the transition to Queen of the Qing Empire.

Just so you know - as much as Yanxi is sweet, this drama will be very bitter for the main couple. The two dramas together describe a "bittersweet" love beyond time. If you can't take the pain of love loss, visit Yanxi again for the sweet moments. I love the beautiful costumes and sets - and see Qin dynasty influences on other cultures, notably Ancient Japan. Wish the English subtitles also bring out the depth of the characters, because you'll see a lot of feminist thinking behind the dialogues.
I found this last year but there was no English Subtitles. So I waited for english subs. Just tonight as I was looking for some more Chinese dramas and this came up and this time with english subtitles. I'm already in love with this drama. Main characters both from YANXI PALACE my favorite chinese drama of all time.

People are working on English subtitles - they will appear as English (not British English). Doing subtitles is an enormous amount of work. If more people in the community could help that would be great. There are people out there who are fluent in Chinese but not so confident of their English skills and there are people who are native English speakers who are learning Chinese. I thought my favorite drama was the legends but this is actually my favorite.
I fell in love with the short clips of this story I saw on another channel and when I saw you had the full episodes I jumped at the chance to watch, but unfortunately I only speak English and understand only the most basic of Mandarin, could you please continue with the subtitles? I'd love to fully understand the characters other than just watching their faces and listening to the tone of their voices to get what's going on.

Best male lead in a long time. I love his arrogant, kind, and cynical character. It's so different from the usual. Also glad the female lead isn't overpowered from the beginning and instantly turns to scheming and revenge but is a genuinely simple girl. It feels more natural

The opening of this film has captured my interest and from its tone, I suspect that it will be good all around. So don't want to miss it! I watched King's woman, Legend of Mi Yue, Qin Dynasty Epic and this Legend of Hao Lan. These series all based on the true story of Qin Shi Huang. While the actors and actresses in this series are pretty good, and it is well translated, I find this is one is the most painful to watch, especially after watching the Qin Dynasty Epic.

Regarding this serial drama, having watched more than one drama involving Shi Huang Di and Lu Buwei, it will be interesting to watch how the writers portray the lead characters here.
The actress who portrays the younger sister, now married to the Prince, has portrayed similar roles in other dramas.
