Vane was insufferable. It's not about being strong for Eleanor, it's his Job. Eleanor isn't a pirate and neither was her father. They had security, that's what Vane is supposed to be. He took Hornigolds role, which was to keep order on the island. Hornigolds men would have handled Lowe. Now Vane wants to sit there and do nothing and tell her she should protect herself. She should have helped Hornigold remove him from the forte. She let her feelings for Vane deter her from doing it and now it's come back to haunt her.

Interesting lens y'all took speaking to Elaenor's absense of power in her current situation. I'd add she's very fortunate Vane doesn't desire the entire island. All along.

I'm pretty sure he still loves her and that's the only reason she's still somewhat in charge 😅 I think he's right about her having to start being strong on her own, 'cause she can't depend on everyone else all the time
