Bought a left over 2017 premier rs, fully loaded, brand new last year. I love it. Plenty of power, and features. Things like heated rear seats, Bose stereo, blind spot monitoring, push button start, etc. Things you normally find on vehicles way more expensive. Not to mention, I took a 290 mile road trip last weekend, and averaged 39mpg. Love my Cruze.

So many people talk bad about this car, and I think it largely depends on which year/model you buy. The 2017 model has a high reliability score, and I was fortunate to get one that was made in Ohio.
I bought a 2017 Cruze LT from Carmax for $14,900 a year ago. It had one owner and had 24,000 miles. It has far better power and torque than any other compact car I’ve had. The technology including Wifi hotspot was ahead of its time for the price point.
I still own the car today and it now has 34,000 miles, and thanks to inflation is worth more now than when I bought it. Carvana offered me $17,500 for it recently.

I bought a 2017 Chevy Cruze from carmax last june, and I love it, I've actually got 52 mpg a couple times on the highway, very responsive on the throttle, I switched to 91 for the power. Very comfortable and I came from having a jeep wrangler that got totalled, but I love it, mine is an LT has the remote start and automatic climate control for me, I've been staying ontop of the maintenance and it runs on synthetic oil which is cool. Very smooth, also have the disc brakes, I dont like it when you come to a stop, the car down shifts slow and sometimes it doesn't stop quickly. But very responsive handling and brakes for emergency stops, it will move out the way. The stock tire that cone with it, I've enjoyed them, lots of grip, specially in rain. Never lost grip. I like that when the gas light comes on the computer shuts down the turbo to conserve fuel, soon as you fill it and the light turns off, it's back to normal. Also easy to swap performance parts, I've not had any issues changing parts. Love the auto headlights, I dont have to worry, like he said some cars lights come on but not the brake lights, and that's dangerous. I'm happy with chevy , they haven't disappointed me. Service price aren't expensive. Auto stop feature is nice but sometimes mine kicks back on if I dont hold the brake hard.

I bought a 2019 base ls 1.4L turbo in Feb 2019. That Summer, drove it from Seattle to Yellowstone and back got 45mpg. 5 of us in the car, it had to work a bit going thru the mountains. Last year drove it to the Bay Area from Seattle and back, also got 45 mpg down I-5. The transmission is a little sticky before it warms up, otherwise no complaints. It has 33k miles on it as of this comment April 2024.

Auto stop definitely saves gas, you can turn it off by putting the car in L and hit the plus butting to 6th gear and leave it, you dont have to mess with it, the automatic transmission still shifts automatically, but make sure that if you down shift in L, the rpms have to be in the 1000 rpms.

The Jeep Latitude has autostop. I've gotten so used to it I don't even notice it anymore. My wife hates it. Anytime she drives she uses the override on it. From what I've read, autostop gives an extra squirt of gas into the cylinders. To restart it just fires the sparkplug. It doesn't use the starter to restart from autostop.

The 2019 Cruze LS has the automatic headlights too. I got my 2019, rebuilt title, for $8,000.00, with only 4,200 miles on it. So far, it's a jewel. I really like it. It replaces my 2006 Prius. About the only thing that it does less than the Prius is the sound system. My JBL stereo system on my 2006 Prius sounds better than my 2019 Cruze, and the gas mileage, too. (I get 44 MPG on my Prius in the city) Nice cheap 2019 Cruze. I'm content with it.

Yes but the Auto start stop is one of the best than any other auto start stops. Because so many other reviewers love how quick it is. And non laggy it is. Like as soon as you let off not even a split second. It turns back on faster than any other car company. I’d give GM an A+ for the auto start stop but the one thing I don’t like is that it has plastic on the top of the door panel. Everywhere else I don’t care about. I just wish it was a really soft plastic touch instead of it being a hard smooth plastic touch.

My wife and I just bought a used 2017, fully loaded Cruze up here in Alberta. Hopefully we will have it by the week end, we teas drove it and I loved the way it handled and the interior is just beautiful. I am not a car guy so I appreciated this review, having been around the block more than a couple of times, I understand it is impossible to please everyone all the time so just keep doing what you're doing, never mind the a holes who disrespect you, I think some folks just go online to spout off at anything. It's fine to disagree with someone but recently the world seems to be very...uptight, relax, those who don't agree with the review can say so without being belligerent, some have differing opinions. or experiences, thats cool but there is no need to disrespect, as someone who is not mechanically inclined, I found this review helpful and I think I have watched just about every video posted on this car, so far there is not a whole lot of very negative stuff written about it. My wife will be driving the car as a commuter and I believe the car will suit that purpose well, time will tell. Ours came with about 67,000 kms....yeah, we use metric in Canada eh... so we still have some warranty left on drive train. hopefully we will like the car.

It intrigued me to hear your comment about how the Cruze lets off the power, shifts, then powers back on. My 2018 Hyundai Elantra 6-spd auto does the exact same thing. It's the first car I've ever owned that does that and I found it very unnerving for the first few months of ownership. I've sorta gotten used to it, but I can't say I'm a fan of how it feels while accelerating. The 2.0L 4cyl in my Elantra gets phenomenal gas mileage as well. In stop and go city traffic with AC on, it' gets 30mpg. Doing a long highway trip with AC on, it gets over 45mpg. All of these compact cars these days seem capable of exceeding 40mpg, which is fantastic.

Hyundai/Kia (pretty much the same) have been slowly getting better and really became great in the 2014 model year once they resolved some issues. The 6 speed automatic is know for being a little sluggish, but is mass produced on a large scale and is generally considered indestructible. I own a 2017 Cruze Premier and I love it. The only thing I hate about it is the auto-stop "feature" but, thankfully, that's easily bypassed. All you do is move the transmission shifter into the L position, then click the + button on top of the shifter 5 times. The car then drives and shifts normally through the gears without annoying auto-stop until you either shift it out of the L position or turn the car off. It's a little annoying at first to have to repeat this every time you drive the car, but it soon becomes muscle memory and you don't even think about it. This causes no harm to the transmission because the car shifts through the gears normally. The car is a blast to drive if you keep your foot in it, but, of course, your gas mileage goes way down if you do. I love the scream of that little 1.4-liter turbo engine.

But when we come to the Autostop, since July 2019 it has failed me 3 times in the manner you have talked about where I came up to a light or stop sign, the Autostop engaged and then failed to disengage. According to the Technicians we have here, no code comes up and they can't find what is wrong with it. I wrote to Chev Canada to see what they can do, but the problem is annoying and a safety concern. If you have any recommendations on what could be wrong I am open to comments so that I can pressure them to fix it. Also a great overview of the car, I was a student love it. especially the low fuel consumption it has and how cheap it is to fill

If you want to bi-pass the auto start stop, shift it to “L” then press the plus button to “6”. This tells the transmission to use all 6 gears. I’ve always been afraid of the excess wear and tear on the motor personally and am okay with a very minuscule reduction in mpg. Best of luck!

I had this engine in a 2013 Chevy sonic rs then mid 2014 i had my daughter so had to get a bigger car I got an Altima and I wish I never did . In that year and a half though I got a trifecta tune , turbo back ddmworks/zzp exhaust, blow off valve , I modified the 6 speed with amsoil syncromesh, change the throw and used those stiff mounts . Long story short that car was seriously fun and pretty much a sleeper. I was going to do injectors, clutch and intercooler upgrade but maybe with a Cruze since that's a bigger car lol

I'm kinda glad I stumbled onto this video. Not for the opinion regarding the Cruise, but the fact that you're a TDI owner. I've been considering buying a used TDI and I've been wondering which is the better Volkswagen TDI to buy? Better in the sense of less issues and great fuel economy. I really don't like euro cars but I'm willing to give the TDI a shot. Auto or manual doesn't matter to me but my experience with VW tells me a manual is the way to go in terms of long term durability.

    • @mikesrandomvideos
      @mikesrandomvideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

well the TDI is great but IMO it is more for a person who can do some of their own work. THey require a bit more maintenance and specifics than american cars. Like oil even needs to meet german specs or the turbo may fail earlier. The DSG is great automatic but requires the oil to be changed every 40k miles and it is not easy to do. Not like an american car. The cruze however IMO is better for the non DIY guy because the mileage is almost the same little less in the city but more simply designed for maintenance. MOre places know how to fix them. Vw requires special care. Unlike any other car lots of reading but once you get it they are really good. Lots of people hate them but expect them to be like a chevy but they are not.

When I drove the 2017 Camry SE it felt pretty fast just for the 2.4 liter or was it a 2.5? I don’t remember. But I drove it. I was in LA trying to get out of the parking lots next the the beach houses on the Pacific Coast Highway, and I smashed it a bit. And it went pretty fast with 4 grown people in the car. With luggage in the back. Also. What I didn’t like is that it felt like a rubber band when I let my foot off the gas from stepping on it hard. I was like ew. But I do like it though. It was fun to drive. And it even had the paddle shifters. Which were kind of fast with switching gears. Faster than other cars with paddle shifters. But still had lag to it. The Cruze is something I want to get my hands on. And drive it. I have a 2011 impala with the 3.5 V6 and it gets a 0-60 under 6.97 seconds. Which the new cruzes get a 0-60 under 7.31 seconds.

I am no sure how to really describe it or if it is just me since I drive often our V6 which may have affected my perception. I think from the comments there are 2 power options for the 1.4 liter. I must have had the high output. Keep good quality synthetic oil in the engine. Like Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 Name brand stuff and it should last a long time. Issues would be for people using cheap oil change place bulk oil. Would cause it not to last as long. With turbo you need to be sure the oil you use is the best.

There are things that I like about my 2017 Cruze LT/RS, and other things that tick me off.
Nice interior, while the RS package gives it a sporty look on the outside.
Mechanically, I have never had a problem with the car over 4 years. However, the center tail light on the 2nd gen Cruze cracks, as a result of being fastened down too tightly at the factory.
When the center tail light cracks, rainwater leaks into the trunk. I've had to get warranty work done on my Cruze 4 times. Just for that one issue.
Mechanically, is the Cruze a good car? IMO, yes. Would I buy one again? Because of the widespread water leak issue- No way.

The doors can be locked and unlocked from the app . The app is as secure as my bank account login . The auto stop is aggravating and it concerns me on longevity . I have read there is a fix being worked on . There are ways around it , you can put the transmission in manual mode to gear 6 (you should go to six to open all gears) by pushing the up button on the shifter. You can also shift to neutral or turn your A/C on high cold . I consistently get around 40mpg on my trip to work .
