The air pressure is to clean out the cooling canals in tools if they have so they dont fill up the toolchanger with liquid. Its for some more stuff but this is one of them.
Perhaps remove the way covers and clean them nicely from all the gunk that has accumulated in the last 30years. And see if there is any galling/fretting. And check if all the oil piping is in good order. Next thing is to level the bed. Otherwise it won't cut accurately. I wouldn't use these machines for too much fine 3D interpolation , aka Fusion360 stuff. These machines aren't build for it, they like beefy cuts, no small stuff. Lots of repetitive small movements will displace/push out the oil out of the machine ways and you'll end up with worn out ways, ie a trashed machine.
I love these things, I currently have to figure out how to talk to an old thing of tech, it is so satisfying when you get the first message that makes sense!
Giaco those karcher floor sweepers are great, I've just got one for my warehouse and I'm already considering butchering a cheap roomba to make it drive itself around the floor at midnight.

The drone flying got me thinking of Davids time working for Flitetest, when he used to say "I landed it". David (if you read this), this shop looks perfect for flying around in with one of your small tricopters!
the compressed air is to blow the chips out of the spindle so when you change tools you don't get shit stuck between the spindle taper and the tool holder.
Sweet! We've got some old stuff modified with floppy emulators so we can use USB. Only issue is that the USB has to be formatted into 1.44MB partitions. Old stuff can work great with some workarounds. Congrats! I'll bet it's a great feeling to watch it move under power.
There is another page that should state work offsets or wcs and that is where you set your zero for your x y z axis. If you have the manual look up work coordinate system and it should be in there. I have a Fanuc 10t lathe so everything is very similar on the control.
Looks like an old Fanuc 10/11. They had tape capabilities, but that was kind of a leftover from early days. Most shops were converted to RS232 by the time F10/11s came around. If that panel happens to have the manual ABS/Inc switch on it, make sure you leave it on ABS! Couldn't tell you how many service calls I made on machines that still had that stupid switch. Some were pretty severe crashes....
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!!!! Can't wait to see that behemoth spitting out parts! It would be funny to make something super tiny and delicate with it.
Will it be used both for wood and metal? If everything goes well with this machine you could clean it (and give it a new paint job) and add something useful on a CNC : a camera linked to a raspberry pi. You could then see on a screen what's happening and even stream it!
Hey can you link the webside of the danish guys? Im really interested in their RS232 device! PS: Your machine needs the compressed air to clean the taper during the toolchange, every liitle chip on the taper can destroy it.
solution for your squatter problem: invite a couple car guys over and have them anti-lag or 2 step their cars inside your building. lol. the squatters will think there is gun fire and will surely make them run. try it.
on second thought, might not be a good idea. the accumulating fumes could gas them out and actually may kill them lol. I'm sure you don't want any murder charges in the new show, just yet.
@@GiacoWhatever Home the machine look in the POS page, select REL and preset the machine to XYZ 0 in Relative, then go to MDI and command G20 for inch mode and try again.
BTW, those old 10/11M controls required a mnemonic command to set tools and fixture offsets unless you see the Measure and Measure+ softkeys in the Work offset and Tool offset pages.
i have a fully rebuild deckel fp3a cnc for sale if you need another one, it has a new mach 3 control stuff so can work with any cad/cam program. and is converted by phillips to mill 3 axis simultaneously. located in the south of the netherlands.
Deckel FP-NC with Mach3 is trash. You'll loose all the accuracy without using glass scales. Leave and use them with the Dialog4/11, they are great controls
funny stuff. love that you are all going at it, trying to learn all these new equipment. Giaco will you be at makers central shameless plugging the maker knife like you did in this video 😂
Mi fa strano vedere degli Italiani fare video in inglese, ma capisco che il mondo evolve... Mettete una bella Tricolore su quelle pareti, mi raccomando!
@@GiacoWhatever Hopefully a generic post will work. It might be problematic to code a post from scratch or modify a generic post. Be careful that the tool spindle orientation is working before you run a tapping cycle
@@ianwhatmough150 I don't think it should be that problematic to modify a generic post since we have the manuals and can figure out the feature set reasonably easy. It mostly seems like it's a bit finicky in how the G-code is formatted, in which case modifying the post processor should be easy. Though, since it's a fairly common controller I think the odds of finding a post processor that works without hacking it to pieces manually are pretty decent.
Cool! Give that CNC a really good clean. I wanna see it shine for the first cut in its new home.
came here to tell them to get the IPA out ... it'd clean up really nice ;)

The compressed air through the spindle is a purge to blow chips and grit off of the taper during tool changes.

Who else kept checking the timeline not wanting the video to be over.. :-) That is awesome Giaco! Cant wait to see it make shavings!!!
I love Fanuc management, i've been pogramming on Mori Seiki, old lathe cnc machine with Fanuc 2 years and it's fantastic :)
That thing is a monster! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Color display! I'm so jealous! Seeing that first bit of g-code loading into the machine is so satisfying.
It really is!!! :)

Awesome! Its incredible to see older equipment modified to work with modern devices. Sweet upload!
Only missing a Norwegian there and Scandinavia is represented! Skål!
Clicked on a cool CNC video only to find David. Used to love watching him on flite test
So cool to see that old beast in motion! Nice work, men!
So excited to see more just like this!
David Windestal! Can't wait to see more rocket stuff.

That is a pain in the ass. Drip feeding over RS232 is the way to go.
@@ianwhatmough150 For our applications it works fine. No computer required at the machine. $50 investment 5 year ago. Zero complaints.

love your videos

SOOO GREAT! nice to see😀🍀
