Also interesting to see that you're using a Disco rather than the Tesla. Guessing this was for the practicality of refuelling while on a long holiday? Thanks so much. I actually sold the Tesla (for no other reason than needing to slim down finances, I’ll be back in as soon as situation allows!) but yes I think I’ll keep the Disco for this kind of thing just as I really enjoy the whole off road adventure rig type thing.
How many times have you even changed the title and thumbnail on this video😂 Loving your content though, I've had to limit myself to subscribing to only 10 TH-cam channels and ignoring everything else as a mean of decreasing my time spent stuck in the algorithm but this channel has such good ideas and executions that it has a permanent spot in the roster. I have no problem at all personally recommending them and if I didn't have this channel I'd definitely be happy spending my own money on their full price. I can’t imagine it would add much compared to the tent itself - which I can’t notice. Surf board is basically flat and pointed too so must be pretty aerodynamic.

Hi Ben, I've been looking at Roof Top Tents for about 3 years now.. and like yourself, I own a Disco (D4/LR4, which is effectively the same vehicle), I purchased it towards the end of lockdown with the intention of doing more outdoorsy stuff. I have camped in the vehicle a few times (built a sleeping platform) but space it tight if trying to pack in all the recovery gear, cooking and enough 'stuff' for a couple of weeks road trip. So the RTT is the way to go. So I have a couple of questions before I click 'buy'. Firstly, how long did it take to arrive from China? Second, do you bother removing it from your vehicle for day-to-day use? and lastly, have you mounted it to the standard Land Rover cross bars or did you install a lower profile rack (such as Front Runner) or something? I'm trying to work out whether to mount it as close to the factory rails or to a raised platform. Thanks for any advice. Ty
Hi! I'm using the Yakima cross-bars - I'm actually not super thrilled with them (a bit rattly) and would prefer the Land Rover ones. I am happy with the height though (similar to Land Rover cross bars I think) - any closer and it would be really hard to tighten the nuts. It actually doesn't look odd with the space below the tent either - on this car it looks nicely visually balanced. Also the cross-bars will be the best shot at keeping the weight down compared to bigger rack systems. I ordered mine on 5th December and it arrived in the UK on 26th Jan. I plan to just leave it on all years - I've already enjoyed a few trips in it so it's fun and useful even in winter (great for meeting friends at pubs with camp sites attached!). Apart from the rattly Yakima cross-bars there's hardly any impact on day to day driving leaving it on there . If you do go ahead with an order can you let them know you saw my video? Thanks!

I was going to fabricate a lower profile rack using 20/40 aluminium extrusion direct to the factory rails, but given your feedback on height and accessibility of fixings I've rethought the one!. So will persevere with the original LR roof bars. One final question once the item was in the UK did the delivery company get in touch to arrange a specific date for drop-off? You can get special nuts that need a keyed spanner - but I think if someone is going to do it they won't use the nuts. Best bet is insurance and not worry about it I think.
I think you should edit your video with the “updated” pricing of $1750-1900 listed on the website. Also the free shipping is for 40-60 day delivery. If you want it in 5-15 days it’s $100 extra. And I’m in the US. I watched your video all the way through and might’ve made a purchase if what you said in the video was actually true. Now I will spend more time looking at other options. Just my thoughts for what that’s worth…

A surf board would be very little weight, however it could generate a great deal of aerodynamic force at highway speeds.
