    For me Loki is proof that the MCU can still produce amazing stories, so long as they get good writers to make the characters shine and actually make us like them and care about them. Give the projects the effort and passion they deserve, and the time to achieve that.

    • @granfalloon9848
      @granfalloon9848 ปีที่แล้ว

      "produce amazing stories" It probably 'helps' that Loki's series were very, very derivative of pre-existing stories.
      Season 1 took a lot of cues from an Isaac Asimov one-shot, bureaucratic agency removed from time, where agents who are plucked from no longer existing timelines, are in charge of traveling through the timeline and interfering with it to insure the ideal singular timeline, a chaotic female comes in trying to destroy the bureaucracy that had limited humanity to a focused trajectory.
      Season 2 latter half took cues from a Thor series that came out in the early 2000s or so. A ragnarok took place, all the Asgardian gods except for Thor die and are resurrected on Earth. Thor feels lonely. He visits all his Asgardian friends, sees them living their lives on Earth, it's the only life they know for their past 20-40 years. Thor sees their bits of joy and bits of tragedy they face, their lives are small but rich. Thor is lonely. Thor proceeds to end all these humans lives so that they reincarnate back into Asgardians so he can stop being lonely, very cool and non-sociopathic thing to do (Ragnarok is cyclical in Marvel so culling humans to unlock their inner Norse god/goddess is probably a normalized activity). We are reintroduced to the concept of a female Loki.
      Loki season 2 decidedly took a better approach to a Marvel Norse god feeling alone and wanting to be with his friends, who have different lives and no knowledge of him or the life they shared.

      @@granfalloon9848 Even so, it takes a lot to bring a comic book story into a tv show or film so they still need good writers to use it as inspiration and bring it to that new medium effectively. Not every part of the story is identical either, there’s plenty of originality in there and even in the bits that are heavily inspired by pre-existing stories. There are so many stories from the comics they haven’t used yet and a lot of the audience won’t have seen the comics first so I don’t see a problem with them doing this, nor do I see this as a good reason to criticise these projects.

    Some one who is knowledgeable about Nordic mythology has probably pointed this out (as it is a very prominent part of Loki's character) but, Loki can just send an astral projection out so that he can wander around, this projection can do pretty much everything Loki himself can but at a fraction of his original power. like when he was trapped in the mountain with that snake and maid. though it is a less troublesome situation than then, he could just do that, if Marvel want to be accurate to the myths. this also means, we get to see Loki in future films without having to go to Temporal Yggdrasil that he is now confined to. But I think Zanny's idea is just too funny to miss out on.

    10:55, I’d say the main source of comfort he’d have sitting there for eons in this dimension outside of all time is that he seems to be able to see what’s happening in the realities he’s connected to.
    If they were to continue his story to wrap up the other Kangs or Doom looking to take his spot as ruler of all realities, I’d imagine they’d do something like have him spawn his projections into other realities like video game avatars, a souped-up version of his use of illusion to basically astral projected in the past, to call out different heroes to fight them while he holds those realities in place.
    He apparently heard Mobius and Sylvie talking on that branch version of his reality with a version of him that never taken by the TVA. I do hope that at some point, he learns how to use the realities he’s holding to manifest variants of things from them to change up his environment a bit (this show has already established that his powers can evolve if he finds new ways to use them, like Sylvie learned to remotely possess people and Old Loki learned to make portals).
    But on that note, there’s the implication that Mobius can’t really return to his reality or his children because it was one of the realities that the Loom or the War or Alioth destroyed, so any version of it would just be a copy of it (since as of this franchise’s logic, any reality or variant that gets destroyed is dead permanently and any other version of them out there, no matter how similar, is like a regenerated limb, a copy of the limb that was lost but never truly the original one itself) and the same is so for Sylvie, who’s whole motive for killing He Who Remains was because her reality and family were destroyed permanently and she could never go back to them.
    Mobius is literally a “nowhere man” just like Brad said he was, doomed to watch the life of the person he would have stayed as if his life hadn’t been altered unless he decides to go somewhere else and make a new life for himself.

      @BlazerManiacNumber96 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ayezz2811 Love and Thunder’s biggest flaw is it’s tone. Which is a valid complaint but in the end it was still a coherent vision. Whether or not that vision was any good, is subject to debate. But the movie had a direction. Multiverse of Madness doesn’t even resemble a film. It’s a 2-hour scene, a collection of bullet points loosely strung together without any semblance of narrative or character. It’s a movie so consumed by its own plot that it completely negates any level of storytelling. Nobody has any interesting motivations or arcs, nothing engaging happens at all. The driving force behind the entire project was a collection of meta referential cameos that have no internal logic or cohesion and take place in a sequence that is so shoehorned into the film without providing anything of worth to the film that it’s hard not to role you’re eyes into the back of your head.
      It’s weird to debate which film is worse, given they’re both bad. But Love and Thunder was a movie I’d rank in the bottom third of the franchise, while Multiverse of Madness is the single worst thing to ever come out of the MCU

    I like the way he puts it, that just because there are folks out there that are sad because of the ending doesn't make it bad. But there feelings are legit and pure, and so too are their feelings. So yeah, they won't like it, but even if not everyone agrees on the satisfaction of the ending we can relate because of the way it made us feel.
    I loved season one but the last episode put me on a bit of indecision on whether or not I liked the show, it was a lot of expo dump for me.
    And then we had a few shows in between that I wasn't really keen on, at least not wholly. So I was tentative going into this season, putting it off for a while.
    In the end I'm not celebrating it really or super hyped. I'm sad too. But Loki's character got redeemed, he's still dead on 616, but he's good in both places, in a way we got to see the culmination of the person he might have been if Thanos hadn't killed him.
    So overall, a good end for him, and a glorious burden for him to carry on his way out.

    I think there are some obvious points to be drawn between the Norns in Norse Mythology and Loki's position at the end of the show. Like Loki, the Norns are Jotuns, giants, they live in Yggdrasil and keep it alive, and they control the threads of fate, an interesting parallel to the loom imagery in the show. The Norns influence the destiny of men, and I think it's likely Loki is influencing the destiny of the timelines in the MCU, and with the assistance of the TVA, is preventing Kangs from incursing onto at least some of the timelines. A lot of people have theorised that the flashes on the top of the tree are the Kangs waging multiversal war, and the darkness at the bottom is Alioth taking the role of Nidhogg. I think Loki is essentially manipulating fate in the timelines to protect them from any existential multiversal threat; it's basically an in-universe response to "if every single possibility exists, why hasn't x happened?" It's because time-god Loki now has his thumb on the scales in order to create a universe where his friends can live.

    Loki's arc is arguable the best within the MCU, and it's because it's so sad and heartbreaking. Because even though he does end up being alone, even though he even gets the throne he no longer wants....he's ultimately conquering his greatest fears. Where Kang wanted to conquer everything in order to have control, Loki instead conquered himself as a true ruler should. He's unironically sacrificing himself so that there may be hope for the rest of existence. He quite literally is the "Jesus Christ" of the MCU. And saying he's "dead" is honestly just not true. I moreso see his current position as a long term back seating. He'll most likely be back in the future, probably to serve some kind of "Wise Mage" type roll for whatever cataclysm is happening at the time

    I’m hoping that with all the big changes they’re making the quality is gonna improve, and deadpool 3 and echo by the look of it is gonna be a good way to start. Pretty sure the main reason stuff was the way it was before, more quantity that quality was cause of the previous Disney CEO being stupid, apparently he thought that only animation was for kids and stuff like that.

    Unfortunately, I think we've entered a stage of the MCU that I like to call The Cope Metronome. It's where Marvel swings between amazing and awful, and the internet also swings between "man the MCU is over shoulda stopped at Endgame" and "wow the MCU is BACK, I'm sure the upcoming pile of obscurity with unlikeable actors and almost no marketing will continue this hot streak"

    Marvel got too bloated, too many characters to juggle rn. Like Shang chi prob won’t get a sequel for at least 3-4 years, so to me marvel’s been so disconnected compared to phases 1-3
