thats what people also refuse to acknowledge, and havent yet, a lot of OW character designs are inherently fuckin flawed, you got tanks 1shotting DPS or healers you got tanks denying you from playing the game(dva) that you have no agency in counterplaying just cause you are no beam, you got a mercy character that goes against TEAM SHOOTER logic by not requiring her to aim at all and thus not translating her gameplay into any other character, tanks in MR arent OW broken level, not yet at least and thats whats not making GOATS exist as of now because DPS characters are just BUSTED and annihlate tanks in 1v1, which they should, but DPS in ow just get rolled over if tank decides to 1v1 with them cause "counterpick meta"
I agree that the launch of Marvel Rivals is likely really good for both games. We can only hope this pushes Overwatch to be better in the future, and both games can coexist.
@hamsterrwrld6767 I agree, but it's not the Overwatch Team's fault that Blizzard, the conglomerate that give them their jobs, are greedy as all hell. The people working on Overwatch genuinely care for the game and have made it their lives, likely working late nights to make the game better and pump out content. Are they doing a poor job of it by focusing on the wrong things? Yes. And to me, that is why Marvel Rivals is superior right now. No matter which way you look at it though, we've gotten the most consistent Overwatch content to date recently.
Are you stuck on 2020 or something, the horrible people at blizzard got fired, and the overwatch team had nothing to do with that anyways. But go off supporting netease i guess LMAO
Insta lock spiderman mains are a different breed bro. They will go 4-8 but get a solo ult kill and think they are the hottest thing since that Boeing Plane explosion.
My counterpoint to Role Que is Role Restrictions. You do not need to force people to que for certain roles, all they need to do is limit roles to a max of 3. This means that you can have 3 DPS, but you can’t have a 4th or 5th. This would allow people to swap freely without having to make a dedicated Role Que like in OW. I understand wanting to keep it completely open … HOWEVER I have a feeling that its gonna develop some VERYYY toxic Metas that could kill the game. Think about a 4 Tank/2 Support team on any push map. You essentially have too much health and healing and you can just push it to overtime, ult spam, then win. If theres a Loki too? Just ult the Iron man then team wipe the enemy
You wanna know what's really great about Marvel Rivals? Is that for one of the skins in the current battle pass, the one that is free, the skin actually looks good (its the Hela skin)! In my opinion, its the best skin in the entire current battle pass! And it's the free one! You still have to grind a little to get it, but still, free!
Marvel rivals feels like a true, coming to light. Ow characters felt flaccid and nerfed overall. Like pharah has to have a half assed fuel system why? Like, it's boring. Right? Genji can only have one wall run and then has to touch the ground... Again why? It's fucking boring. And the ONLY reason is... Balance? Yeah the one they continually butchered. You can't tell me that Genji having unlimited wall runs would have stopped GOATS from coming in. The bottom line=bad design.
I had a game last night where we got whooped the first round and I was dps but I felt like we weren’t getting a lot of heals, I went support the next two rounds and we swept them. The ability to have different layouts that aren’t 2-2-2 is so much better
Yeah pretty good community. I was on a team just DpS than I switched to Hulk as a tank than one of my teammates decided to switch to healer than another switched to another tank so now we actually became a team. Small decisions can make a big difference. I had no clue how to play tank but now I do.
I agree, currently diamond 1 & from the day I started playing ranked. I always let me teammates pick their character & I’ll fill in whatever we need. But if I see someone seriously holding us back I’ll tell them hop off & go heal or tank etc. because when the enemy has a Hawkeye or punisher or Hela etc. & for some reason no one contests them the entire game I’m not going to wait for them to magically do it.
Another thing I really like is that there is no balance. Almost every character is broken (in their own way and obviously some more than others… hela). I know it’s because the game is new but there are so many good character options that you can carry your team with
The only reason for role queues is because people don't want to swap to other types of heroes. It does nothing other than limit the game's choices and makes the meta simpler to solve. You have tons more choices to select from, aka 2, 2, 2 / 2, 3, 1, / 1, 3, 2 or even something as crazy as 0, 4, 2 depending on your players skill levels. Sure, it can be awful when the whole team just wants to play DPS, but if your team can't even figure out that's not a good idea, chances are you were going to lose anyway.
I had my first “good” insta lock Spider-Man in a silver lobby yesterday he had 30 kills and almost 30k damage. He stayed with the team but also constantly flanked the back line and killed the healers. Buddy was puttin up numbers
What people need to understand is that during a quick match it's a chance for people to mess around and find out what they like and they may be going for achievements. You shouldn't go into quick match thinking you're going to be a try hard and win. If you want that then go to rank because a lot of those people actually care about being more strategic with roles. You should use the time in quick match to get good with your own preferred characters.
To the Overwatch refugees who's come over to Marvel Rivals, I know there are things that can improve in Rivals, but it's just released. It's season 0. Can y'all relax with the complaining? Give the game some time. Yall OW refugees want Rivals to play exactly like Overwatch, but yet you're the same bunch that complained about how OW plays. Marvel Rivals can learn from other games and still be its own thing. How bout yall learn multiple characters in multiple classes. Also, those who be complaining about not getting heal, its hard to heal when u are so far away from your healing, maybe as well learn where the health packs are so u wont put so much pressure on the healers(strategist). Ppl who are playing team hero shooters just be skipping the TEAM part.
Hulk and Dr Strange as Vanguards.... Iron Man and Star Lord as Duelists.... Mantis and Adam Warlock as Strategists.... All six players have a team up ability.... Dr Strange and Iron Man sync with Hulk and Star Lord and Mantis sync with Adam Warlock.... Just one team comp I've come up with so far....
Paladins locks you in playing one character during the whole match, while marvel rivals is like overwatch 1 and it's flexible to switching heroes during the match.
The counter argument to the first point is that yes, of course people are better on 1 role than another, hence why Overwatch has separate ranks per role. You're gonna get match-made with similar skilled Supports when you play Damage.
I just love that Marvel doesn’t have the shit gimmicky characters like a sombra and auto lock aim for what seemingly feels like half the roster but still feels friendly enough for lower mechanical skill players.
@@stevedoe8622 idk where ur getting that from. People have massive egos at higher ranks and just wont swap even if they are doing dreadful. Ive been flexing basically every game since i have 3 dps instalocks. Sometimes they will swap but I wouldnt say its too common
I still don’t understand how having role queue is bad. It’s an optional game mode that you pick to play. It doesn’t make sense to say it’s bad because you choose to pick it and you have a bad team mate at dps. When I play role queue most I constantly get bad team mates.
every heroes in marvel feels very powerful in its own ways. when I finished season event missions and collected all the images for the comic, I was genially happy what I achieved. Not the experience you can get when you play OW2...
My thing is, if OW changes their monetization strategy because of Marvel Rivals I will still not give them a single cent, because that had every opportunity to do it before they had competition and chose not to.
I hope they make Role Lock BUT, that they make it so that anyone can be any of the classes, but once 2 are locked in, that role is blocked out for others. This way a team could in theory swap during a team wipe or between rounds.
But then what happens to teams that want to run 1 tank, 3 duelist, 2 strategist? Or even a full dive team with 1 tank, 4 dps, and 1 strategist? Do those comps just then become impossible?
@@spatz2219 Yes, like Overwatch, 222 is just better to play when you are playing with random people online. Not to mention more fun. Sure, those off comps work in some rare situations, usually only when the other team is playing one. It's much simpler to balance the game around, that's for sure.
the thing with the 5 dps picks they could easy fix it without doing roleque. they just have to limit the amount of dps picks in your team to 3 and thats it.( at least for comp)
Give it a few months though and the no role lock thing will become an issue. People will find their main and they won’t want to swap. Exactly what happened in Overwatch. It’s refreshing at the moment because nobody has a clue what they’re doing, but you wait until you get an entire team of DPS that won’t swap….
OW needed a role q because their heroes were one sided and boring for at least one side of the spectrum (dps, tank, heal) but Marvel Rivals doesnt need a role q because everyone finds a heroes they like on every part of the spectrum.
The reason that person was on heals in the first place was probably because they were filling... So I don't think it has to do with you swaping to healer. If they had just queued into the role they are best at in the first place.... You wouldn't have needed to switch
Same situation here, I loved OW, played it every day for a few years nonstop. But then OW2 came out and it just wasn’t as fun anymore. LOVE Rivals, it brings me back to how much fun I was having back in OW1. I also agree that I want this competition to get Blizzard to improve OW, rather than kill the game. Also, I have never paid for Battle Pass in my life and never thought I would, but when I found out the ones in Rivals don’t expire, I decided I’ll be buying whichever ones seem cool to me. So Rivals will be taking some of my actual money. Good job, Rivals.
I’m just hoping when nerfs and buffs do come to the game they aren’t nerfing characters to the ground or buffing them to be OP. OW does a really bad job at balancing the characters and it forces everyone into playing the OP characters. I’m pretty sure they introduced role queue because the devs couldn’t properly balance the game.
Team Total Role Minimum Requirements is in my opinion a better way to do it. But that is a ways off before it should be mandatory. But that being for Comp only would make so much snese.
Blizzard fans are the only people defending Overwatch 2. Meanwhile Overwatch fans are playing Marvel Rivals. I really want an Orisa replacement. Random, Machine Man, Forge, War Machine, Susan Storm, Surely they can find someone to make up for the INJUSTICE that is OW2 Orisa.
I hate the idea of gatekeeping a game concept even when the Original devs aren't doing a good job. I mean if you're not able to make a fun interactive experience then someone else will do it. No point in hating on it, if your product Is superior nobody can touch it. And competition is always good for the end users which is us the gamers.
The first time I tried the replay system back in the beta, I knew rivals wasn't fucking around and coming for OWs' crown. Rivals is just superior in every way.
Marvel Rivals should do something crazy and buff weak hero’s instead of nerfing the strong ones. Wild thought but maybe people would like seeing their niche hero becoming viable in most play style
Marvels Rivals right now has more potential with the characters they still add(Thanos, Deadpool, ANT-MAN, and that’s just scratching the surface) the gameplay is much more quick and fun as well
I will say having no role queue is nice but being someone that will all roles it can be frustrating when you don't get to play dps for hours because in lower ranks people don't have brains.
"Rivals just copied Overwatch" Yeah, in the same way that Palworld copied Pokemon. No they took the same concept, but instead made it better than the "original". That's not copying, that's improving on a (stale) concept.
The reason why role que isn’t as important as ow is cuz there’s a way higher chance of having healers on your team. Yknow why? Cuz they’re *actually fun* 😱
I swear I can practically smell the upcoming collaboration with DC. It's literally the next big marketing move to make after bringing in so many marvel characters.
I tried OW and could never get into it. This game being marvel and it's characters instantlywas a yes for me. Gameplay is also solid and i enjoy it. Props to marvel games for making this and having a whole universe to take stories from.

@XenosGhxst Im a DPS main who is always playing Support. I want to do damage, I know im really good at it. But the last time I tried to play DPS in open q I got 3 people screaming at me that im the reason no one likes open q and I ruin the game. Not the match, but the game as a whole. 😭😂
@jinxx8456 bruh 😭😭
thats what people also refuse to acknowledge, and havent yet, a lot of OW character designs are inherently fuckin flawed, you got tanks 1shotting DPS or healers you got tanks denying you from playing the game(dva) that you have no agency in counterplaying just cause you are no beam, you got a mercy character that goes against TEAM SHOOTER logic by not requiring her to aim at all and thus not translating her gameplay into any other character, tanks in MR arent OW broken level, not yet at least and thats whats not making GOATS exist as of now because DPS characters are just BUSTED and annihlate tanks in 1v1, which they should, but DPS in ow just get rolled over if tank decides to 1v1 with them cause "counterpick meta"
I agree that the launch of Marvel Rivals is likely really good for both games. We can only hope this pushes Overwatch to be better in the future, and both games can coexist.
I'd rather Overwatch fail. If it's owned by Blizzard, I ain't supporting it.

I can’t wait till they hopefully release ghost rider I feel like he gon go crazy
He could either be a tank with a lot of built in cc or a dps.
2:30 YES. I love this part the most about no roles. I can switch to a role that is better for me depending on the team.
Theeeese are the clips i MISS just tim talking about topics randomly like football, betting, video games, beef anything! Best
I personally like how u can have MVP AND SVP when u lose. AND u can see EVERYONES HIGHLIGHTS
Also a lot of us grew up and are growing up on these super heros that are now all playable characters! And we love it
Bingo
Just ult the Iron man then team wipe the enemy
they should role queue for when the team only has 1-4 stacks, then unlock it for 5-6 stacks
Be able to swap mid game is huge. I can make adjustments based on what’s happening in the game or if my team is down a round.
Rivals is just excellent. - OW veteran.
Maximizing experimentation is the #1 thing that would make Rivals completely destroy Overwatch.
Real ones remember Team Fortress. I was the Doc in that game too. And Support in Overwatch. And now Strategist in Rivals.
Been playing overwatch since Overwatch 1 Season 1, i finally hung it up and deleted blizzard from my pc
Also there is a page for characters lores! Yes almost everyone knows Marvel lore but still there.
Yeah pretty good community. I was on a team just DpS than I switched to Hulk as a tank than one of my teammates decided to switch to healer than another switched to another tank so now we actually became a team. Small decisions can make a big difference. I had no clue how to play tank but now I do.
(Strata - jist) strategist.
When you translate it it says loss-sure. Thought it was ironic and funny 😂😂
That only applies when Tim plays
I agree, currently diamond 1 & from the day I started playing ranked. I always let me teammates pick their character & I’ll fill in whatever we need. But if I see someone seriously holding us back I’ll tell them hop off & go heal or tank etc. because when the enemy has a Hawkeye or punisher or Hela etc. & for some reason no one contests them the entire game I’m not going to wait for them to magically do it.
Petition to have Kevin do more intros:
OW is scared of rivals with bringing ow classic. 6v6 and even hero bans in tournament 🤣🤣
Overwatch wasn't going to add role queue until Brig arrived, so of Marvel Rivals won't add it either, at least for now
When an Adult who's an OG have common sense when explaining why a game is good Great job Tim.
As an employed person. Marvel Rivals is really fun and I enjoy playing the game with friends that make time to play.
OW is cooked , OW is a char burnt steak .
Now with Rivals, we get to eat again!
I just love that Marvel doesn’t have the shit gimmicky characters like a sombra and auto lock aim for what seemingly feels like half the roster but still feels friendly enough for lower mechanical skill players.
“I’m not gonna go on a tangent “ uploads a tangent video 😂
2:20 its rare that someone actually swaps when you ask them to though
No offence but you must be in lower rank cause in the higher ranks people want to win meaning they need to set there ego aside.most of the time
I insta lock dps literally every game because that’s my main but by the time the timer ends if we need a support or tank I switch.
It's rare in low elo. In high elo ppl will swap if you ask them nicely
@@stevedoe8622 idk where ur getting that from. People have massive egos at higher ranks and just wont swap even if they are doing dreadful. Ive been flexing basically every game since i have 3 dps instalocks. Sometimes they will swap but I wouldnt say its too common
it’s rare to pronounce “strategist” like Regis Philbin
It's much simpler to balance the game around, that's for sure.
lmao the way tim says strategist is like nails on a damn chalkboard
Reminds me of Pokémon Unite; it is a MOBA like LoL with a large company and an endless array of characters to add and expand on.
Paladins sitting in the corner with the dunce cap
the thing with the 5 dps picks they could easy fix it without doing roleque. they just have to limit the amount of dps picks in your team to 3 and thats it.( at least for comp)
Biggest difference is Marvel Rivals actually like fun. Unlike the current Overwatch devs.
They just let characters be fun instead of design.
Cool video idea for ya Tim. Make a Venn Diagram showing similarities and differences between TFC/TF2, Overwatch, and Marvel
They should do both options like ow. Have an open queue and a role queue.
They got the Non-expire battlepass from Halo Infinite Multiplayer which is another W for MR
Rivals has completely replaced cod for me. NCAA and rivals🤝
Widow being terrible in marvel rivals is a big reason why it is better at higher ranks.
Idk but I like the structure of role queue , nothing worse than being a single support.
Warzone catching strays out in these streets😂
Ah yes the once in a lifetime moment where people switch in a hero shooter vs the tons of games you can get rolled bc there is no role lock
Random, Machine Man, Forge, War Machine, Susan Storm,
Surely they can find someone to make up for the INJUSTICE that is OW2 Orisa.
TFC man the good ole days 😂
I hate the idea of gatekeeping a game concept even when the Original devs aren't doing a good job. I mean if you're not able to make a fun interactive experience then someone else will do it. No point in hating on it, if your product Is superior nobody can touch it. And competition is always good for the end users which is us the gamers.
Also the idea of overwatch was dying, Marvel Rivals literally revived it.
I want a role quota, that way every role has at least one player
True but it might also just encourage people to start insta locking which is already a big problem
The game doesnt need role queue because the tanks and healers are actually fun to play
Overwatch 2 has open queue ranked. It has had open queue ranked since the game out. Most people just don’t want to play open queue lmaooo
Love the Kevin intro!!
Role que should be a thing, but just make it interswappable.
Marvels Rivals right now has more potential with the characters they still add(Thanos, Deadpool, ANT-MAN, and that’s just scratching the surface) the gameplay is much more quick and fun as well
they can go further and try to team up with dc to make the ultimate superhero clash up that makes space the limit
this is the best intro ever. please let kevin intro all vids ty
If I’m the first or second to instalock on dps im not switching unless I feel like it
Marvel rivals is 10x more fun to watch and play than ow2 just saying
I will say having no role queue is nice but being someone that will all roles it can be frustrating when you don't get to play dps for hours because in lower ranks people don't have brains.
8:30 How about conco- ooh... yeah i forgot about that
Team fortress two was probably the best game of this genre
"Rivals just copied Overwatch"
Yeah, in the same way that Palworld copied Pokemon.
If you haven’t played team fortress your missing out. Was such a good game back then. Spy and pyro was lit 🔥
I tried OW and could never get into it. This game being marvel and it's characters instantlywas a yes for me. Gameplay is also solid and i enjoy it. Props to marvel games for making this and having a whole universe to take stories from.
I feel you on the insta lock spiderman lol i never have a good experience
