      Honestly. I’ve started replacing my “fast food cravings” with a box of sushi from WHOLE FOODS for the same price. SUSHI FROM WHOLE FOODS
      If I’m already accepting a $16 meal to get quickly anyways, I might as well have something better for me
      Will walk it back to something cheaper later. For now, I’m at least “treating myself” to healthier alternatives without spending any more than McDonalds woulda expected for a meal
      Already lost 2lbs and it’s only been a few weeks with no other lifestyle changes. Glorious.

      but, it's still cheaper than in Belgium.
      I'm srr, but McDo is a company,
      it isn't something like a service provided by the state like an O.C.M.W.
      It's a business and like all businesses they can set the price like they want.
      As long as they don't do illegal practices, like setting the price lower than the actual cost to buy/produce a product to outcompete the competition in a really evil way, I see no problems.

Most of these exorbitant corporate profits, whether its retail, hospitality or whatever, doesn't actually come from the money consumers spend, but rather the assets they own. I work for a Loblaw's company in Canada, and we have people protesting stores here this month. These people don't realize that most of these stores aren't even profitable, they're just places for Loblaw's to sell shelf space to vendors and park their in-house brands which stores are forced to buy.

    McDonalds is a REAL ESTATE company, that is their core business and where the record profits are coming from, and not from their food business. This needs to be clarified.

      It's an important point. When you hear the "McDonald's" is reaping record profits, that does not reflect what the guy who operates your local franchise is earning.

    • @mrgreensuit7379
      @mrgreensuit7379 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Franchises are a parasite on anyone who takes a chance at buying into one. They charge you upfront for the initial buy in and then you have to pay again and again. They also charge you on every single food item that comes from corporate. They even make money on renovations they force you to do constantly. If that was not enough they make money again on fines they hand out if you don't meet their store specs. There are other grifts to juice you as well. The franchise does not need you to make good money, they just need to you make enough money that you'll keep paying them to own a business.

    • @BondJamesBond...
      @BondJamesBond... 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Tim_the_Enchanter Exactly, because at the end of the day, McDonald's collects rent from the franchise owner even when they have a less than profitable month.
      However, if enough franchise owners go belly up, McDonald's properties will have a lot less value effecting their so called record profits. Frankly, it's just a matter of time.

      that might be part of it, but most of it is they can raise the price as much as they want and just blame inflation on the prices.
      They are still raking in 14 billion in profit - its double what it used to be and their profit margin has gone from 20% to 33%

      @comment_deleted the pure revenue isn't what you need to be looking at.
      The real question is what is their *net* profit in terms of percentages. Inflation makes all the numbers go higher no matter what they are, and I'd like to see what their operating expenses look like now compared to four years ago.

      It's true though. Little kids can't have an off day, can't ever have a day where they're stuck in 1st gear like we are from time to time, they always have to meet the adult standard of behaving perfectly 100% of the time, no outbursts, no lagging, no being tired; meanwhile we can sleep in, call off of work, have a soda if we want. Spare a kid a cheese stick after a shit day at school and it's "gonna spoil their dinner" or some other earth-shattering consequence.

      That’s… logic that only a moron would think work.
      Not only would that probably have the opposite effect, as food is still soft and dissolvable, but no matter how watered down, that’s still deadly to humans.
      Basically, any store trying that is doing the equivalent of manifesting because they think it works, except it’s lethal.
