I'll give the interviewer this, the second time round they actually said "Strode". I think the first time around it was just a stumble. But seriously the "Haydenville" killed my soul.
If you want to talk about trauma, my father was a drinker, gambler, and a drug pusher. He sold stuff around the house and made my mother go through a nightmare with his lies everyday that she was married to him. I got sick with kidney failure at age 4 and I thankfully have recovered from that, I also have trauma from grade school, middle school, and high school from all the bullying and harassment that I had to put up with. I went to school when bullying was never looked at as a problem like it is now, I went to school from 1987 through 2000. Whether its a murdered or a bully or a sexual predator, its still the same. My grandfather was an extreme racist and treated my grandmother to alcohol. My grandfather was verbally abusive towards me and the rest of my family. These are things that I have had to put up with for a long time. You. Never. Get. Over. It. I also had a professor in 2001 who rejected me for being learning disabled. He told me that I need to figure out what I needed to do in order to pass his class. Because I was not in the right frame of mind or something like it. He could have been sued for the crap that he put me through. Trauma is something YOU never forget. Michale Myers is a character that I has given me chills since I saw Halloween when I was a little kid. I have seen all the sequels since then. All of them are gripping, but its truly about the original film that takes the cake in the end. Thank you to Jamie Lee Curtis and David Green for the new Halloween film.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver are two great actresses. Both women proved they can dominate the movie screen and show they can survive anything.
The way I see it, you can now choose which path to take. This is an alternate story line. You can either go from the first film to "Halloween 2" or from the first film to this new one. Choose your adventure. They can do this with other movies too.
She needs to release a music single called Trauma drama and have the cast of Scream Queens be in the music video gyrating around Michael Myers as he playfully teases them all with a knife. Thats what the trauma tour has done to my brain :-/
Indeed. Enough is enough. There better not be any of this ridiculousness in the movie. That's my only fear. If this film starts pontificating, that'll be scarier than anything Michael Myers does.
right, I thought we were going to talk about the movie. I don't give a fuck about bill cosby or any of this shit, if I wanted that i'd watch cnn. this is a joke
Michael's doctor is revealed to have orchestrated the bus crash and his escape. Allyson is dating a guy named Cameron Elam, the son of Lonnie Elam who bullied Tommy Doyle. When Michael is grabbing Laurie through the door, she blows his right hand off with the shot gun, locks him in the basement/panic room, sets off propane gas and burns him down with the house. During a montage of the house burning and Laurie bleeding to death from her stab wound, we can hear him breating which indicates that hes still alive...the cut to black
I don't remember "Haddonville" being in these movies. Again its yet another "journalist" not getting their facts right before interviewing. Wait! I'm sorry. Haddonville is next to Crystal Lake just off of Elm Street. The killer was Jason Krugar. Lol
Jamie Lee Curtis still kicks ass and is still the Scream Queen!! hell she is the Scream Diva. I am excited she even just reprised her role. I wanted to see how she was effected. I know its not as good but having her back in the story is so exciting to me.
The great Jamie Lee Curtis! Love, Love, Love her! She rocks and is the best. Halloween 2018 is great and still scared me. Great performance, acting, bad ass, Jamie Lee Curtis. I've followed since 1978 Halloween movie. Everything she explained made total sense to me now. I see the whole picture, of course now that I'm 50 and older than when I saw the first movie back then.
It’s gonna be very interesting because Halloween 2018 was about trauma. And Halloween Kills will apparently be about lynch mob with returning characters like what happen with George Floyd really sad
@@benconnor3206 I know it's on Amazon, but whenever my friends and I see the trailer, we can't help but think that. Mostly because I feel like that's what DGG is most known for.

You're all groaning about the depth JLC is attaching to this, but this film IS about trans-generational trauma. JLC is an actress who has played this role for 40 years. Of course she has a deep understanding of what the role is from film-to-film. That's not only her job, it's been her entire adult life. Yes, it may seem like she is getting more out of it than the viewer would casually, but that's why she's the one being interviewed, and its also what's so great about Halloween. One of the primary discussions about it by Film Theorists is that there is tremendous depth in it's simplicity. Also try to realize that it's JLC's understanding of this on a deeper level that makes her performance what it is. That's the kind of understanding of the material that you need behind and in front of camera, to make the film better. Ask yourself if it's this type of depth of character that is making a better film. So far it's is the only film in this franchise that is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with the exception of the first Halloween. This stuff is why. Whether you recognize it consciously or not. STOP and maybe ask yourself whether you ARE getting all of this from your horror movie experience, but don't care to examine it. What does that say about you? HALLOWEEN and JLC's role in it, is a film that has been endlessly studied by Film Theorists. JLC has lived that legacy. She absolutely should be speaking her mind because this film is riding the heels of decades of film analysis. Film analysis may not be your bag, so to speak, but when Halloween continues to be discussed by Film Theorists for years to come, and it will, these things will be important. Halloween and JLC role in it, isn't just your fun night out at the movies, it's film history and there are greater discussions about fear attached to horror films. JLC knows that. If we don't recognize these psychological aspects we can't get to a bigger, larger academic questions. For instance, to examine whether Horror movies can serve as a counter-phobic exercise, that could potentially save people from developing things like PTSD or even act as treatment for it... That's just one for instance. Stuff doesn't exist in a vacuum, and our fun night out at the movies is fun, BECAUSE we can relate to these ideas, however unconsciously, at the time. What does it say about most of us that we don't want to see (acknowledge) these deeper issues inside the plot?
Love Jamie’s passion for the project, and she’s a hell of a sales woman. But H20 covered the same ground 20 years prior, dealing with Laurie’s trauma. And the cathartic final moments between Laurie and Michael was stronger than this new film.
Please read the full post before the hate bashing! Ok. To be 100% honest, from day one that I heard about the angle this final movie was taking, I have been totally pissed off. Because, it was like a 40 year long punch in the gut to the hard core fans, " Your devotion to the story of Michael & Lorrie mean absolutely nothing!" And, until this interview, I still felt that way. But, Jamie Lee Curtis's philosophical view brings the purpose of this version into perspective, as a survivor of 9 years of violent mental, physical & sexual abuse from ages 4 to 13. At 53, I am still dealing with the pain & trauma that defined & destroyed my life. As a diehard lover of horror movies, I was at the 1978 premier, and have loved the original since. As a survivor, horror movies are how I have been able to deal & release my pain & anger, and not hurt anyone else in the process. So, Jamie's prospective has completely changed my viewpoint altogether. Now, I'm crying! I am so thankful to have watched this interview, as 2018's "Halloween" will now be a cathartic finale!
How incredible is this woman really. Wow. I wasn't thrilled about the movie but after seeing the reviews and Jamile Lee's enthousiasm about it, I'm in. I'm so fuckin' in.
I went to see "Halloween" 40 years ago when I was just in High School. I though it was so good and saw it several times in the theater. But I never would have believed it would become the classic and spoken of so fondly after so many years. I loved the Panaglide shots when projected on a large movie screen. No matter how large your wallscreen is, it can't compare to a real large movie screen. It had a wonderful "you-are-there" feel to it that is now lost on a smaller TV screen. I loved the music score. Unfortunately John Carpenter messed up the music for DVD home video. He went back and put these awful music overlays on top of the original score. He even put a thumping disco beat over the opening credit music which destroys the original Halloween mood. If possible, get the blu-ray 35th Anniversary of "Halloween". It is the only home video that can be programmed to play the original mono track which is much better than Carpenters shrill overlays. CHEERS!!!!
My personal choice for my trilogy ..original Halloween, possibly Halloween 2 (on a good day but still not 100%) and Halloween water 😜 to finish the series

This woman is no helpless bimbo in her films... never has been portrayed as such even when she was a hot young thing (still looks great btw!)... such a strong interesting personality... LOVE JAMIE LEE CURTIS SOOO MUCH!!!
JLC always has enough charisma for the entire room.
