It's about time I stop trying to make my Gibson Les Paul sound like a Telecaster , mine is on it's way . Oh , and the original Telecaster of 1951 sold for $179.00 in 1951 , which is $2,196.00 in today's money , so virtually NOTHING has changed with this guitar .
I played one at a local store, compared it to top notch Mexican ones and, although the Mexican ones were all really good guitars in every way, the av II 51 felt a lot more lively, dynamic and sounded bigger. I like the 7 1/4 inch radius, no fretting out, even on three-half-step up-bends, and the neck to me felt substantial but very easy to play. Finish, setup, intonation ( to my surprise! ) and overall build was close to perfection. Left the store with mixed feelings because I initially wanted a Mexican Vintera II Nocaster, which was nice but this 51 got stuck in my mind. To me, it felt and sounded so much better. So I went back there some weeks later and it was still there. This time I checked it against Teles in about the same price range and above, can't remember all of them. I still liked it a lot more than E. g. the American Pro 2 and the Ultra. There was a CS one that was just as good or even a little bit better but it was almost three times the price and it was a totally different beast, not 50s style at all which is what I wanted. So I asked the guy if he'd accept a deposit and let me pay off the rest in cash. He put it aside for me and every time I pay a little bit off I plug it in and play a couple of minutes and I'm always blown away . To anyone looking for a trad 50s style Tele I would recommend trying one. I don't know if they're all that good but what I get from lots of reviews and comments they seem to be quite consistent.
Well, it won't cure the itch, will it?! Have you made a desicion yet? Ok, first I should ask did you get a chance to to compare? Some stores allow you to get a guitar in without any obligation to buy it because they know it's gonna sell anyway. As good as the Vintera was, I figure there might be a chance you like the less expensive one at least as well as something double the price. If you can, go to a shop and find out for yourself. Happy hunting and thanks for your kind reply!
I tried the Vintera II Nocaster. I liked it very much. But I’m waiting to give a chance to the the AV II. It’s just a matter of budget. I hope in the next months I’ll be able to afford tha AV II, better for sure. Otherwise I’ll go with the Vintera II. I really want that old 50s feeling: chunky neck, 7,25 radius, maple neck… In the last couple of years I’m in a Telly mood (Josh Smith, Robben Ford, Guthrie Trapp…) 😄🤟🏼👍🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Great demo and the V II 1951 OG is a beast. I own one. The one thing I say say, I have a 1963 master built and the 63 is much hotter than the 51 which I thought the 51 would be hotter. Either way it's awesome.
Not a Tele owner but was always interested in that guitar, with mixed feelings about it... especially the overly bright examples... until now as I realize that's THE Tele sound I like the most and was looking for without being able to pinpoint what it was given the huge variety of models. Darker, with midrange, but still clear and very deep. Odd that it's the "original" sound and not the most common one. Isn't that a very unique Tele compared to most other ones? Is it a kind of sound exclusive to the "50ies" Teles? Or are there other comparable models? All excerpts sounded fantastic, but Walking on the Moon at the end was incredible.
I'm interested in the new 51 Tele Pure Vintage pickups to replace the V-Mods in my 2016 Fender AM Pro Tele - any idea how they compare to the current CS Nocaster set?
Great guitar, sound & player… Fender 4ever🔝
Really fucking appreciate that walk on the moon you took.
Thanks for the variety of sounds. I've got mine coming to me next week.
Excellent presentation : you make the guitar sing, without any overuse of effects!
Just Wow. Hit the like button after a few seconds of the clip. Awesome tele! Great presentation.
Appreciate it, cheers!
Really wonderful demo thanks so much
sweet chops, underrated channel!
thanks mate!

My 51 vintage 2 tele is awesome. Easy to play great sound.

And check out the Jason Isbell. It was very! good , the 51 was just that little bit better (to me) that made me jump on the 51.

Glad that the 51 Tele bridge pickup sounds broadcaster-ish (i.e., dark, compressed and midrangey) as those guitars were originally in 1950-51.
agreed!
Just brought one yesterday. Little heavy but absolutely beautiful
So owesome thx!!!!
Great sound ! And nice playing, thank you . What’s the amp used ?
I just bought one today
Very nice review and you also got some sick skills man, you got a new follower right here!

Great review !
Mike Stern got the best out of the tele! Nice playing chap.
Did fender told you it was a 1 piece ash body? Haven’t found that info online
I’m used to playing les Paul’s but love the look and sound of this tele. Do you think the neck would be an issue for a les Paul player?
it'd be an adjustment, pretty different width and scale, but plenty of players do it without issue, i'm sure you can handle it Mick!
@@MannysMusic_Online I went for the vintage 63 In crimson red on mahogany body, it’s pretty amazing 🤘
@@mickl2793 Very nice! Enjoy!
I love the watch you are wearing. What brand/ model is it?

How does it compare with a 51 or 52 custon shop? Is there a big difference in sound quality?
Do all of these guitars have a one-piece body?
Oh…another “60 cycle hum dinger” 🙄
Love ya rendition of Nugent's Stranglehold.
Nugent on a tele?...subscribed
