A basic rule in "scholar" "social experiments" is that if you can't inform your test subjects before the experiment, you definetly are required to do so afterwards to make sure they understand the context was framed. With all those bystanders walking around and them not telling them it's an experiment, they break one of the most important rule of experiments tought in every bachelor degree from university.
For one, informing test subjects before the social experiment will skew the outcome. Instead of getting what people would really do, you would get what people think you want to see. Informing them after they have passed by (but didn't engage) isn't always a great idea either, since if word gets out that it's an experiment, people will flock over for the chance to be seen on camera, again skewing the results. For those that did engage the bait actor, in all the seen instances, the fact that that was an experiment was made reasonably clear.

I always does my heart good to see racists, white sumpremists, Nazis, etc. called out for their beliefs and it makes me happy to see Canada's national news channel take them on like this, I just love seeing Canadians like myself standing up to racism, xenophobia, and prejudice because that is us living up to who we should be as one of the most diverse countries in the world. Shame that all the racists and Nazis swarmed the comment section, though. Hope CBC does a story or report on that.
