    Many thanks, guys! Great discussion - we'll see how the predictions stand up next year 😅

      The world will have to wait to find out the accuracy (or lack thereof) of our bold predictions! 😁 I couldn’t be more excited for book three!

    Thanks for having me on Philip! Was an absolute pleasure and a goal of mine when starting the channel to chat Mark Lawrence with you.

    Fantastic discussion Philip!! I found myself actually responding out loud to your talking points; I was that invested. I have my own discussion video I made on these first two books, and after watching this there other points I'd have like to touched on.

    I am watching this (regardless of spoilers) to convince myself to start this series again. I had to return it to the library.

      Not THE Library, right? I mean the infinite one . . . 😁 If you do restart it, I hope you’ll enjoy it!

    Seeing you without a tweed jacket on, Philip, is what broke me! What is happening?!

      Ha ha! I played a tennis match before the discussion that morning, and it was during the worst of the heat wave. Alas, even Dr. Fantasy has to bow to practicality sometimes. Cheers, Evie!

    One of the most incredible moments of The Book That Broke The World was when we saw that it was Oanald's men who had raided Clovis' sanctuary in the Library before she went into the Mechanism. That reveal was so devastating to me, poor Clovis.

    • @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy
      @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! That was quite a twist, and it certainly solidified my feelings about Oanald and company.

    Great discussion guys! I was very much looking forward to this and it was wonderful to hear all your thoughts and predictions. But also the discussion that broke my heart, at least a little bit, as I couldn't be there. Like all of you I have tons of thoughts, questions, feelings -- by far too many for a comment section. Again, putting out a great video, Philip!

    Well, I had to stop at 7 minutes, because I have not read them. I just discovered The Broken Empire recently, I think this series is absolutly something I need to buy and read soon and I will watch the rest when I have done so.

    • @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy
      @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@OmnivorousReader This one differs in tone from Broken Empire, and I love them both, but I do feel that The Library Trilogy is the best I’ve read so far of Mark Lawrence’s books, which have all been brilliant. I hope you’ll get a lot from them!

    I feel like Mark Lawrence made reference to Starval’s height more than once. Does anyone else think he may not be a canith after all? This could lead to a whole new twist in book three.

    I really enjoyed this discussion, thank you! Had to abruptly stop it just before the end though, when a comparison was being made to something towards the end of Lost as I’m watching it for the first time and I’m only in the middle of the first season 😂
    I look forward to hearing what you think of book 3 next year!

    • @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy
      @PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh, I’m glad you stopped before any spoilers! I haven’t watched Lost, so I can’t say how much of a spoiler it really was, but better to be safe than sorry. I think you’ve probably read book three already, so you know how far off our predictions were! 😁

    • @MitrielFaywood
      @MitrielFaywood 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy No spoilers from me, either! 😀 But yes, Mark always finishes the writing of his trilogies before the first book comes out, and so I read book 3 back in 2022. Since then he has written a sci-fi standalone with robots and a human girl in a spaceship, which has to be the funniest book by him ever! It’s glorious! Another, more serious sci-fi called The Chinese Room that has such a strong, atmospheric first chapter I’m still in awe of it. (The whole book is great, of course.) He wrote the (brilliant) first book of his next trilogy, which is Grimdark and with a woman as the main character (Squid Game meets John Wick) and a shorter literary book which is a sort of spin-off from the Library trilogy, with stunningly beautiful writing. So lots to look forward to in the upcoming years! 🙂

    • @MitrielFaywood
      @MitrielFaywood 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy The Impossible Times books are very short. A quick, easy, but exciting read. The Book Of The Ice has another strong first chapter and an epic ending in the last book, especially if you enjoyed some of Mark’s early works (I won’t say more, but I had tears in my eyes 😅)

    I think Mark Lawrence mentioned that this trilogy isn't part of his multiverse, but (SPOILERS!!) I can see this as being the simulations that Jorg came out of in the last Book of Ice.
    If Jorg is the destroyer and Yute is some kind of Taproot fragment I wouldn't be suprised, but that would be one hell of a twist that I don't know how he will pull off.
    Or Taproot might be better as the one wanting to conserve knowledge.
    Still. Book three will probably be one hell of a ride.
