This song reminds me of the time my aunt was on drugs and I didn’t understand it. The hospital came and wheeled her out on a stretcher and I’ll never forget it. They look in her eyes. She wanted help. Well that was over 20 years ago and she’s been drug free now for years. Amen 🙏🏽 Its amazing how music and certain smells can bring back so many emotions and memories.

True, a lot of good R&B came out in the 80s and 90s, then was ruined in the 00s with so much trash. I myself have only a handful of mainstream r&b tracks from the 00s and maybe the odd few from the 10s but quite a lot from the 80s and 90s.

@@taijaisuper Good point, these days you have to dig deep for the good stuff. There are still some good r&b tracks out there, it's the fact that 99% of the time, they don't go mainstream, such a shame. These artists are more talented than most of the mainstream trash out there.
I love her upper chest notes but her husky deep notes are rich and easily sustained too. This is the best contralto singing I think I have ever heard. Her intonation and phrasing is very nice with loads of soul.

We've been married now over 25yrs, and this song by Mary STILL takes me back to those times we used to chill in Staten island at fam house, coming all the way from Brooklyn to Manhattan hopping on the ferry and shit.... beautiful times with wifey, not alot of money back then,but we were STILL happy.
