I really love working my way through these lectures. I think too many universities don't put enough emphasis on teaching the history of math. Everything is presented in a kind of haze, but knowing the chronological order of what was known when and who discovered it really increases my general understanding and appreciation of the subject.

You are quite right, the history is very important for understanding.
