I am Chinese living in Japan now. When I was in China I only heard rumors about police brutality such as the persecution of Falun Gong. But I never saw them on internet in China. After I came to Japan I know the truth about my country.
Sure you didn't see video in China on the net about police brutality, the internet is censored there. If you google Tiananmen square in USA you will see that guy who stared down a military tank until it tried to go round him but if you google it in China you will just get nice pics of the park :)

As a person who is familiar with Soviet history, some elements of East German history and the preceding organisations to the KGB, SMERSH and Cheka, this is being sold short. Not to forget the Gestapo, Stasi. a few others. Extremely short. The world they live in over there is one where people being disappeared, for no reason is something that happens. You can't comment on it or you're next. If you do anything other than toe the line, you're being actively monitored. Even if they like you, you're still passively monitored, the minor stuff is still noted, just no official action. If they don't like you enough, they'll force, forge reports to show that you have to be picked up. Doesn't matter how clean, how straight and narrow up and coming Party member applicant you were before, that now doesn't matter. If you say the right thing in the wrong way, congratulations, you're now a target. If your neighbour does the same, you're now a target. If it happens in the building you live in, you're now a target. The level of violence these people can, do and are promoting is not something we have a concept of here. Even compliance can carry the death penalty. It's easy to say they deserve it, when you don't have a damn clue just what they are living through.

When I went to school a poor international student who was willing to live hard for the chance of a good life came to my school. He would go to classes and then slip back in at night and sleep in the cupboards to save money... I lived in China for 9 years. The Chinese people do need to start standing up against their bosses and oppression in little, subtle ways; however they cannot do so in big ways without great risks, risks that would be much greater than people in Western countries could imagine.
The problem within Chinese people is no one wants to be on the line of taking this risk. Every now and then there will be some brave guy in a crowd willing to stand up against the oppression, and the rest of the crowd (cowards) will strongly incite the guy to go ahead and to take the risk of standing up for the entire crowd. The rest of the crowd will take none of the risk but the potential benefit of standing up. If he fails, there is no risk for the rest of the crowd.

I was appalled when the professor spoke about the "Liberation of Tibet from a feudalist system." I'm almost eighty. I am so glad to hear your voice. The university heard from me about Tibet. About the police: I agree with you, but I was terrorized by the Ojai Police in California for twenty-seven years because I asked a neighbor who was honking her horn early in the morning to stop. She was the mother of a deputy sheriff in Ventura County. You cannot imagine the intimidation and harassment I endured until a new Sheriff of Ventura County was elected. My phone was tapped, I was followed, run off the road in my car and on foot, had my tires spiked, had my car attacked at work, received threatening phone calls. We could not get relief or even a restraining order. Not until a new sheriff, an uncorrupted sheriff with a no nonsense approach toward the implementation of the law by his officers did anything change. If you've seen the movie "Deliverance" you may have some idea about this vicious small town: Ojai.

Thank you for strengthening my existing disgusts about the ccp. I’ve heard about these all too often from my many students from China. I’m a teacher in a private institution that enrolls many foreign students and the bulk of them are from China. The horrible stories they shared with me and the rest of their classmates are more often than not shocking. “Don’t be fooled by the facade China is trying to impress upon the world”, they said. There’s definitely much more than meets the eye that the rest of the world isn’t witnessing. What’s happening in China now is Mussolini, Gestapo and KGB all rolled in one. The rich and powerful, as long as you do not put a toe out of line against the ccp will be left alone. The average, poor, minority ethnic people, Muslims, Mongolians, Tibetans etc.....are facing the wrath of the ccp in more brutal ways than anyone can imagine. The amount of information I’ve received and acquired it’s more than enough for me to write 3 paperbacks on the red sky. I’m really even more appalled after watching this evidence to back up against all that I’ve heard and information received from my students from China. I lived in China for 9 years. The Chinese people do need to start standing up against their bosses and oppression in little, subtle ways; however they cannot do so in big ways without great risks, risks that would be much greater than people in Western countries could imagine.
The problem within Chinese people is no one wants to be on the line of taking this risk. Every now and then there will be some brave guy in a crowd willing to stand up against the oppression, and the rest of the crowd (cowards) will strongly incite the guy to go ahead and to take the risk of standing up for the entire crowd. The rest of the crowd will take none of the risk but the potential benefit of standing up. If he fails, there is no risk for the rest of the crowd.

I've been following you for around a year now and after watching you podcast on TH-cam last night I was really looking forward to this video coming out. To my surprise this morning I didn't see it. After doing some poking around on my TH-cam account I found that TH-cam had un-subscribed me from your channel. Just a heads up for you and the fellow viewers out there.
Another heads up for you guys, TH-cam "or CensorTube as I like to call it" also unsubscribed me last night from laowhy86's channel.
Ah yes, like a recalcitrant child, YT must be sometimes be corrected. That happens quite a bit, and I have learned to double check/ deca check when I see a particularly good video or a favourite channel. This being one of the best I tend to check a lot.
