People don't realize how physically demanding it is to be an orchestral musician. It's like being an athlete on a team. There are injuries as well, repetitive strain injuries, etc. Back and neck pain. My poor little grandson got his hand caught in a trombone slide and had to go to emergency - it was black and blue! But he gamely went on playing.
This is a particularly fine performance of this thrilling but incredibly tricky piece. It's actually quite difficult to find a recording where all the rhythmic and textural details don't get lost, but the exemplary players and a strong conductor here pull it off marvellously, aided in no small part by the excellent quality of the recording.
This is fantastic. Special shoutout to Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon, Flutes, Trumpet, Tympanist and the whole percussion section. I sightread the snare drum part while subbing a rehearsal with the Chicago Symphony in high school - it is not easy. Great job all around, beautiful interpretation.

@@icancu9680 conducting an orchestra requires more stamina than playing the drums in a grindcore band.

God, oboe is hard. Just look at that guy blowing his brains out

7:06 Wow that sounded so modern, like film music half a century after Ravel's time.
Photoshop, Maurice Ravel, ahead of his time...
Rather: "modern" film music composers more than a century behind...
Nothing new under the sun, from whom based his music off, ? from mu folkloric sounds as most his contemporaries did.
Bravi! Y Bravo, Steve!
A 6.56 toujours le moment critique de cette partition ! le trompetiste s'en est bien tiré ! bravo !
This is cool asf. Also just very... meta. Like, how does such a thing exist
Fabuloso concierto !!
The wonderfulness and comfort and greatness of Ravel‘s music surpass any race, and time, and country and universal
Y esto, ¿cómo coño se perrea...? Saludos desde Pontevedra
Great interpretation!
Fantastic
Ravel reminds me of Thomas Newman at times
Great song!😀

Buena iinterpretacion, solo eviten los saltos de aire en los instrumentos, y en los marcados, un poquito mas precisos, de lo demas, genial.
