      Focusing on one's own business (not worrying about what everyone else is doing) and how/where you can find work to help pay for a piece of equipment is what makes a successful business. Those 2 brothers are doing a pretty good job of that so far and are growing their business more each day because of that mentality.

      @@miked19831988 not at all! If they need help, they know we're just a phone call away, and we're here to support each other. There's just a lot of other folks in business out there that are way too concerned what everyone else is doing, instead of focusing on making their own business better. We didn't get to the point of purchasing this piece of equipment overnight, and we also didn't listen to all the folks out there that said "you could never justify it".

    A very nice Rig indeed,big investment.
    What I would ask is how will the electronic controls work for you once they get dirty,it's pouring with rain and you are wearing gloves ?
    Like everything that is new,over time things get knocked about ,all the organization of the boxes gets overrun with things you may put in there,all the extras, the webbing straps after a lift that often have been in the mud etc.
    Safety Cones ,they take up room ,then there might be more blocks of wood,can never have enough!
    Again a really nice rig ,it's sad that you have to work it and wear things out , it's a constant state of clean and tidy ,painting ,re-stacking, the safety audit's.
    Enjoy your experience with it 😊

    Congratulations on the new truck. It’s nice to see some NRC trucks on TH-cam.
    One question, why on the NRC the underlift is attached to the main boom compared to other brands or both are completely independent?

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I should have touched more on this in the video...NRC's specialty is the entire mast/boom assembly can travel (slide) front to back on a set of rails and rotate 360. Because of this, they don't have any more room to have a subframe/assembly that attaches to the underlift, thus using the boom to raise and lower the underlift. Having the ability of the slide feature combined with the rotator makes them an extremely versatile piece of equipment on recoveries.

    Sweet truck! As far as the light tower goes, you can never have too much light on scene at night in the middle of nowhere. Just watch out for trees & potential damage to it! One question tho - why the small day cab & no extended cab, crew cab or at least a small 'sleeper'? I'd want something bigger for long cross-country hauls, for rest or for holding extra passengers. You do have alot of storage on it though. 🤔👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩⚙️⛓️🏗️🚜🦺🚧⚠️🚚🛢️

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a truck that will mainly stay local, so there's no need to haul extra passengers. We would rather have the extra storage space in tool boxes instead of taking it up with a sleeper. Yes, cutting the milk crates down worked out very well to fit correctly on the middle shelf!

    Very nice truck a lot of things that I like about it over the Miller. What’s the advantage of having the under reach attached to the main boom this having to disconnect it when you need the boom and not the under reach. I think I would prefer the under reach to be on its own independent hydraulic cylinders and be completely independent of the main boom.

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is designed that way to give the operator the full length of slide travel of the boom assembly to the back of the truck. There's not enough room left at the back to make the subframe/ assembly needed in order to make the under reach completely independent from the boom. I much prefer the slide travel over the minor inconvenience of unhooking the boom from the under reach.

    • @P-J-W-777
      @P-J-W-777 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, there is a full proportional remote to control the truck, with an emergency kill switch to shut down the entire truck just in case. It will also tell you the same data as the screen on the truck. The 50 ton and the 65 ton remotes are identical, however they switched a few of the functions around, which is a bit tough, but we will manage.

    Not to be a bother but I have a few questions:
    1. what is the manufacturer name of the milk crates?
    2. what do you store in the outrigger boxes?
    3. what is the manufacturer name of the commercial truck tow pins?

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have been ordering the milk crates online through a website, milkcratesdirect.com.
      I can say, the shipping seems to almost double the overall price of the crates, but I still feel they're reasonable enough even after the shipping, and the crates seem to be high quality.
      I noticed I referred to them as outrigger boxes, they are just the spot where the outrigger pads are stored.
      Lastly, the truck tow pins are all from the respective truck manufactures. To my knowledge, there's not a place where they can all be purchased from together. I have found one of the cheaper options for purchasing them is searching for them on eBay. The KW/Pete ones seem to be the highest price.

      For someone that has never operated one, a person could certainly receive training if needed. For us a lot of it is just from experience. The biggest thing for this specific unit vs. our 50 ton is to learn/memorize the operation of the screen. The levers/controls are almost identical to our 50 ton.

    • @WilcoxGarageRecovery
      @WilcoxGarageRecovery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the front two steer axles, all 4 tires turn when the steering wheel is turned. That's what Simard Suspension specializes in is upfitting trucks with custom steering configurations. The middle axle is a lift axle, and pretty much just follows/trails where the truck goes. The second steer axle helps to distribute weight and add more braking power to the truck, which weighs 72k lbs empty. It also helps the truck to turn a little bit shorter.

      It has a fully proportional remote control, which is our preference of operation when performing any lifting job

    only thing i don't like is that you have to detach the under-reach. it should always be 2 separate units. it takes more time to detach it🤷‍♂

      That is in the design of the bed, because that's what allows the entire mast/ boom assembly to be slid to the back end of the truck. Theres no more available space to make the required subframe or support to have an independent under reach.

      @@ninjalo9628 Jerr Dan does not have a rotator that allows the entire boom/mast to move back and forth. Miller has the 1150R which allows the boom/mast to travel back and forth 5 feet, and and uses the remaining space at the back of the truck for the subframe/structure for the independent under reach. The Miller M100 has 12 feet of travel, and offers an under reach option, however the under reach has its constraints because it is basically pinned onto the tailboard of the truck, limiting how high it can lift. NRC has roughly 10 feet of travel, and the under reach can be completely removed within a matter of minutes just by using the boom to lift it out of the channels it rides in. Each manufacturer has it's pros and cons, but for me it becomes second nature unhooking the the boom from the under reach on the NRC, and I prefer do that to have the slider feature.

      That was just the electric horn that they tied in with the remote for the tool box doors. It also has an air horn.
