WW2 Battles of Kohima and Imphal were the turning point of the Japanese advance west .
Had Kohima and Imphal fallen, Japan would have marched unhindered to the Indo Gangetic plains.
A number of my family members ( my grandfather's generation) fought at , both Kohima and Imphal.
Many survived to tell the tale to us wide eyed kids back in the 1960s.

u from asansol. myself was from asansol. my first job..in 1989, ..took a flight Kolkata to Guwahati, then by bus to Dimapur, then, by taxi to Kohima. I always tell myself, need to visit Burra basti...nahi ho pata hai ?
