    The JTZ DP30 Filmmaker System offers a great set of classic rig-parts in a high-end fashion. JTZ is the high-end brand from Fotga!
    This video is about the the Mattebox, check my channel for the other parts like followfocus, battery plate, cage, shoulder-kit, and JTZ Link (a system of amazing remote-functions). Some will be available in a while!

    I am an Amazon affiliate, so if you get it over the link I get a small share which I usually invest in Pizza and stuff for my channel. I hope you don't mind :/ if you do, I'm not an eBay affiliate, so feel free to use that link instead :)

    Questions:
    1) When you adjust the height to its lowest can you still push the 15mm rods all the way forward or will it hit the bottom of the mattebox?
    2) Will I need a riser for a Sony mirrorless camera or is the minimum height going to be at a good height?
    3) What is the weight of the mattebox with and without the flags?
    I'm comparing this to the Shape mattebox which looks identical.

    To mount the topflag under the matte box: If you use the whole system upside-down under a tripod the sun will blocked and everything will be ok.

    Hello, Lucas. Thanks for your very thorough review. I am curious whether it is possible to remove the top handle, if for example you wanted to save some weight or just lower the height of the matte box for storage. I can see that it isn't necessarily designed to be removed from your video, but can you tell whether there are screws connecting the handle to the front of the filter tray assembly? I could see them possibly going in from the front or from the back, but I can't find pictures or videos of the matte box where it is obvious whether or not there are any such screws. Thanks in advance for your attention :)

      @LucasPfaff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Matthew, I had a look at the matter. It seems that the handle is attached with five relatively small screws, and they sit in the tray for the frontal filter: i.imgur.com/MmMs1e0.jpg
      Now to unscrew them you'd have to detach the whole filter-holder first, but I think it's managable :)

    Hi, thanks for your review! I have one question, the lens adapter rings are meant to be screwed on like round photo filters, or are they meant to "slide" on the front of the lens?

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sliding. They are meant for cine lenses with standardized front diameters

  • @fabiobus7671
    @fabiobus7671 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it possibile to mount it on a Tilta cage for sonya7siii? And what about the vnd and polarizer you could mount on it? About metal adapter rings for 77mm lens and 82mm? It's because I don't like those kind of brushes to put on the lenses. Thank you.

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's standard 15mm rods and aimed to target standard LWS height. If your Tilta cage does offer that (at least the latter I can't know), then you can of course mount it there.
      There are 4x4 polarizers and VNDs, the latter consisting of two elements which need to be rotated individually.

    Hi Lucas, my son's names Lucas, anyways, I love your reviews and I love the JTZ, so thankful you found it. How did you come across it? I can't find any other reviews on it. I have question. Some photos of JTZ on Amazon shows a EVF pictured with JTZ logo on the EVF, but I cannot find any EVF. Have you found the EVF? Would love to hear a review from you on the EVF, if you ever get it. Look forward to future reviews Sir!

      Lucas, can the handle on the ViiGim (? can't remember how to spell it, it's the one with the batteries in the handle) cage for the G7 be attached on the side of the cage for gripping it?

      You'd need an adapter as the handle is meant for rosette connection. I think SmallRig has such adapters that you can screw to any cage :)

    Just bought the 4X5.65 version and have 2 major problems. The first being that the swing away mechanism seems to be locked, and I have tried unscrewing the two screws on the side handle without any luck. I can forcefully move it but I feel like it is grinding. Did you have any issues with the swing away out of the box? 2nd is that the height of the rod block doesn't allow the mattebox to be slid forward. It just runs into the filters. I adjusted the height but it still barely makes it on the rails. Reached out to JTZ but haven't heard anything back.

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there Sean!
      Hm, my Mattebox doesn't grind but it's not an easy swing for sure! Can you make out where the grinding is coming from? Maybe a bit og sand/dust is trapped there and needs some cleaning/WD40?
      The mattebox has to be on the front of the rods, you can not push further; that's a common problem with many large matteboxes, as they can't get "higher" (else they derive from the standards). As the filters are ~10cm wide and the rods 6cm apart, it can only collide with the filters when pushed through; no? I guess that's when a 19mm rod-system becomes the kicker :o

    Is the 4 x 4 Matte okay to use with a Canon C series Mark II with 70 -200 mm lens? Or would it be better to get a wider 4 x 5.67 since this a cinema camera? Does it affect the ratio aspect?

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4x4 is a standard in cinema too, so... :) generally they are not meant wo have a larger window, they are meant for graduated filters; the window is still 4x4. I don't know how it should affect aspect ratio?

    Hi what would you recommend.. Fotga or JTZ Mattebox? What are the main differences between these 2 ? Thanks

    • @LucasPfaff
      @LucasPfaff  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main differences are build-quality and functionaility. While all matteboxes do more or less the same, holding filters and block light, not all can withstand heavy force or have many threads and a handle on them. The JTZ is also more interesting with larger cine lenses, as it doesn't use the conventional donuts. In such setups it works much better because of that :) so depending on what you search for, both options are great :)

    Hey, Lucas, JTZ told me they didn't think their DP30 would work with my Lumix G7. I'd like to get it because it looks crazy cool and seems like such a great investment for the features it offers for price. I also want something that will allow me to grow as I make future camera purchases. I'd like to eventually upgrade my camera to the GH5. What's your thoughts. Will the G7 really not work in the DP30 by JTZ?

    Thank you for your review. I've got this mattebox, and it's an awesome one (the 4x5.65 version for my pro 4.6k), but I have a hard time to adjust the height. I loosen the screw like you did, but when I turn the top screw top adjust height, it blocks. Do you have an idea ? Thank you

      +Fun Fun Ok I can't find any hidden blockers, so I think we have to rule out things like rails etc. I'd try to swing away the mattebox front and see if it works then, because like this nothing like rails or the part that attaches to the rails blocks the part

      I can answer 1) and 2) straight away, I have to measure for 3) later on :)
      1) No, unfortunately :(
      2) "good height" is a matter of taste. It's the standard height and can adjust a bit up and down. If your Sony mirrorless sits on a proper base following that, you're totally fine; if it sits "directly on the rails", it will be too low
