40 Hot Wheels Mystery Cars vs. 20 Picked Vintage Diecast. Which is better?

- Should you try a mystery box? I went to my local vintage toy store and bought 20 $1 vintage diecast, but as I was leaving, I saw a mystery box with 40 carded Hot Wheels for 50 cents each, so I thought it would be fun to see whether getting double the cars on card blind would be better than loose cars that cost twice as much but I got to hand pick them. Which is better? 20 I picked or 40 I didn't? Let's find out. Let me know which group you think is better and which car is your favorite.

When you said 40 cars for 20 dollars i thought it was a box of loose cars, not in the packaging! Thats a great deal.

It'd be fun to get a Mystery box, especially for First Edition collectors. Let's face it, you're probably going to keep half of them.... 🤣👍
Haha! It's tempting, but I actually have a lot of these cars loose already and I'm not really one for first editions. I'll either sell them in Atlanta and use that money to buy new cars for kids or I'll just give them straight to kids.

Picking loose cars, take that over mystery box all day long. 40 cars for 20 bucks isn't so bad, you did get at least 2 handfuls of keepers. Good stuff brother

I 'd probably go with the loose castings myself. It seems like those first editions are all find hanging on the pegs in most of the antique shops around me.

FTE's look cool, but only buy them if they are already on a casting you want.

@@dxpdiecastracing Is that because of manufacturing errors or are there purposely better made FTEs? I know there was a second generation of FTEs. Are those known to be better?
@@DiecastMediaNetworkFTE’s are just like any other wheel/axle combination. Some are better than others. Even though you have a nickel plated axle, that does not always translate to speed especially if there is wheel wobble. The trap 5 versions in the latter models are the same way. Yes, some castings generally run well such as the Way2fast, Cadillac 16, and the Escalade but some of that is weight. I have only about 5 FTE castings in my weight ranks and I have tested quite a few. In general they can be faster than a normal HW but if you add lube, that tends to even everything out. Still there are always the outliers. I feel FTE’s grab more attention than they really deserve overall.
A amazing car and amazing finds any good places to find diecast cars in Florida because I am going to Florida for someone vacation and just curious and what is the name of the shop you want to.
Look up Vintage Toy King in Ocala and Speedzone in Kissimmee. There's also House of Cars in Tallahassee.
