When I was a kiddo I was like “ dolls are allowed to have mini accessories!?Dolls are allowed to have mini bathrobes!?” Kids deserve quality because they can become a doll collector and keep the business afloat.

Enjoy the dolls you have and take a break from collecting or just complete some existing lines if you want to continue buying. If you don't like a product you shouldn't force yourself to buy it just because. You can also find ways to spend money on experiences that enrich your life instead of toys. But that's just me.
I actually didn’t get into MH at its start because I assumed it would be what the reboots turned it into. I can’t imagine watching it happen right in front of me. I’m sorry to all the RH fans who genuinely liked the toys and characters.
I'm curious to see where this goes, if it's even a long term change or just a theme like Winter Break or Fantastic Fashion. I’m in the boat of, I get it but I don’t like it. Like you, Rainbow High has been my number 1 favorite line since release, and the high fashion references and amazing quality is what really made the line stand out to me. Slime seems like such a regression to 2018 and not like a fresh idea, and removing articulation points is never a good thing in my opinion 😩 I’ve gotten every single Rainbow and Shadow High doll to this point, and if this is a permanent design decision going forward, I don’t think I’ll be continuing that 😕 I do hope they continue releasing collector dolls for us adult fans, but they better be collector level and not just “Series 6 but at a $70 price point”. Rainbow High has shown that they can provide outstanding quality for an affordable price, so if they start price gouging adult collectors it’s going to be extra sad for me 😢
I think they also purposefully try to "push away" adult collectors, cause they want them to focus more on the Bratz comeback. They understandably cant count on us buying Rainbow high AND Bratz and so they try to extend RH to a younger age range while expecting the adults that are no longer targeted by RH to give into the nostlagia for Bratz. Ngl, i am gonna buy some Bratz for sure. So far i only bought 1 reproduction doll to get revenge on my mom for back then saying they're scary and not buying her. She at first thought i am bluffing when i said she did that until she saw the doll and it all came back
I think they would be really cool if they were restyled as kandi ravers. You could put tiny glowsticks in the shoes! It wouldn't even matter about the glitter because it belongs on a raver.
My 6 year old granddaughter is obsessed with slime - a lot of kid TH-camrs promote slime on their channels...which as a 50 something Grandma - I really hate slime 😂.
I will not buy this for my kids. I hate slime. If i want slime for a kid, i buy the slime cheap.. not a doll for 40-50 dollars with slime. I do bought a Barbie ones with slime. Never again.
They definitely are trying to get younger customers who haven't had these dolls before. Cause, there are many previous clothes that will not go on these with the non removable hands. I get they want to attract young kids. Shadow High was not for them. BUT...I really hope they still want us adults as customers too & throw us a few bones ( dolls 🤣) here & there. Barbie does both all the time.
I think if MGA really wanted to sell to this demographic of say 6-12yo then stick with the jr high line and still make rainbow high dolls for collectors. Maybe we wouldn't see as many but like special editions. Also why have Amaya and not poppy? Its like the core 6 includes poppy. Then make Amaya in wave 2 if these sell at all. MGA has made some really bad choices and peeved off collectors. I hates poopsie slime.
I think that Ruby's pet's name is actually Raspberry. And I am intensely disappointed with the RH Rebrand. I really fell in love with the more goth SH/RH dolls like the Storm Twins and Emi, and to see that element of the SH/RH line going away is intensely depressing for me. Shadow High was also my comfort doll line, so I really hope that if MGA brings it back, that they don't ruin it in any way (I love SH so much that I made a custom doll car of the Storm Twins' Jeep, and I have a complete SH collection (39 SH dolls total) and 4 sets of Storm Twins despite not normally being a completionist with my doll collecting). Until MGA fixes Rainbow High and restores it to what it was, I am not supporting the Rebrand because it just feels so wrong to me!🖤💜😞
Yup I agree with you on the sad for collectors but better for business perspective. Shockingly I never liked OG Skyler but think I like Skyler the best in this line…admittedly I don’t really like the line but. She stands out to me, especially the skirt. I had no idea of the name change to Rainbow World which does make more sense for me. For a child focused brand, I thought high school was BORING. At least they can explore a magical colorful world and I’m sure that’s more interesting for kids. Idk if MGA is capable of having collector focused RH/SH dolls that’d be online exclusive and more expensive…but I’d be down. I’d pay ~$50 for 2 outfits again. Or I’d just pay for online exclusive outfits for old characters…but I doubt they’d do that.
I think that this new doll is kid friendly the old one was hard for my nieces to play it. They were getting frustrated with the hands falling off and how tight the clothes were and difficult to put on dolls fir them.
Off topic but your hair and make up looks so good! Your highlighter looks sooo pretty and your star clips really make me want some. I had some as a kid and i loved them. You really are stunningly gorgeous and i just had to tell you lol ❤
At the end of the day, collectors will convince themselves to buy anything. There will be other dolls, I just hope that they extend the distribution to Europe and I include the UK in that. We (UK viewers) often miss out on these releases and its frustrating.
For me I am not a fan of the new direction but I am ok with it. I found the Shadow High dolls pulling me in and I was buying them as well as Barbie and my wallet suffered and I still missed several dolls I wanted to get. I am looking ahead and feeling like 2024 is going to be a lower level of doll releases that I want- of what I have heard of. Honestly feel relieved as I can relax and save money this year. Thanks for sharing!
I feel the same, I don't completely dislike the new direction. I am not thrilled about for sure, but at least I can save money from purchasing every release is a good way to think about it.
I absolutely get being a fan off RH and SH. I’m not a collector or anything, and I’d stopped playing with dolls a long long time ago. However, I’m OBSESSED with RH!!! I’ve been binging their series here on TH-cam. I bought one used to turn her into a mini me ala myfroggystuff, but I have an ENTIRE list of dolls I need to budget for.😂. PS I am also not a fan of slime. I’d bought a Barbie recently to start my collection and yeah. Not doing the slime.
I hear you and what Melissa eloquently have said. I guess I just don't understand to alienate the established demographic of adult collectors who tend to buy multiple of the same doll(s). I feel like it's the classic case of not needing to dumb down kid movies just because it's for kids. Anyways I do appreciate the perspective. Maybe it will be like monster high where they will still come out with collector dolls online
I'm very happy that our OG girls (except poopy, poor poppy) got re-released so people like us who didn't get a chance to get them back then now can. But why this rebrand with the slime pets??? Make that optional or separate. Also the glitter on their faces, that really bothers me. I wonder what this will mean for the other characters
I don't really like the orginal 6. I have two Jr's. that I got cheap. But Twin pack Sunny is one of the better dolls. She looks so much better than her previous dolls.
@@iamsoverybored878 well they were the first 6 in the doll line so it's only natural for the dolls to improve on their quality (with exceptions) overtime. I like the OG girls themselves as characters, and their designs too, so I would have like to have one of them
Do kids want fake cell phones, laptops and water bottles? Mehh, my kids want their dolls to have fashions like theirs so they can dress up together ❤️ And, i collect because I used to be a model...lol Thats my POV
I generally agree with your impressions. The changes are definitely not for me as a middle-aged collector, but I can see why they made them. One thing to consider is that I have heard a lot of collectors, myself included, talking about slowing their purchases and downsizing their collections after binging on the recent oversaturated doll market. However, new kids are coming into doll playing age on a continual basis. My biggest complaint is the glitter on the faces. At least the shine of the older dolls could be removed with acetone, but this glitter is stubborn, from what I've seen.
I recycle dolls and toys as a hobby. Most of my collection of MH EAH are 2nd hand. Rainbow High are the most I bought new. A little disappointed with this major change, but hey, I get it. It makes sense commercially, dolls are primarily made for kids. The other series of RH and SH were a step above imho. I hope they produce both types of dolls. I like that they made fashion packs and accessories.
Out of curiosity, how hard has it been to get second hand dolls with all of their accessories? Sometimes I think about looking for second hand dolls in order to get a few that I want that most likely won’t get a re-release. But I’m always concerned about not being able to find one with all of their pieces. I know the quality will depend in the seller, but I can’t help but think about thrift shops in my area where it’s tough to find a “complete set” of any doll besides holiday ones.
I will say I felt that the previous dolls showed way more character. I don't even watch the show. Never have. But the outfits & faces, hair, make up...gave them a personality. These new ones have no personality. They're very bland & dull. So, I know kids even can feel & see that. But...then I didn't like the 1st dolls either. Not until series 3 & Pacific coast, did I really start to like them. Now I'm in love...and have many 🤗. Don't plan to get these though.
That was when I started to peep out Rainbow High too since I noticed that's when their faces were starting to improve from the original main dolls. Pacific coast had caught my attention, but Lily Cheng and Shadow High had finally convinced me to officially buy. I feel like MGA also ran out of ideas for the fashion aspect of it all.
I wouldn't have an issue with the priority for the slime gimmick if we still had all the original articulation. And I wouldn't mind the changes to their styeles if it weren't for the god awful glitter. So even with what they're trying to do this wave could have been better. Its maddening to see how they actually could have done slime core dolls and kept us on board if they just hadn't removed articulation and vomited glitter on their faces.
I really like your review! ❤It's so nice to hear a more positive statement on the dolls!😊 I'm actually really excited for them, since I like the more youthful and playful approach and I'm interested to see where the line is going.
I loved the original Rainbow High fashion dolls, and I have no interest in the slime gimmick. That said, I am looking forward to the PJ teen line!. I would absolutely LOVE to see some RH made even smaller like a toddler little sister. 😊
While I get it, I don't feel compelled to purchase these at all. They don't have to cater to me, but at the end of the day if they're not bringing much to the table for collectors collectors are just not going to buy. And that's okay. There are other ways I can spend that money.
Barbie Cutie Reveal there cute but the new ones might give kids nightmares it looks like one ate the other i have two cutie revaels not the one i wanted i wanted the panda
Growing up, 70s 80s I dont remember slime Barbie or mixing slime and dolls, they were two seperate things. We loved styling and dressing Barbie and her pets weren't silly things. Yes $25 compared to what, $28 to $30 for the regular dolls with fashions and second outfit. The fact that you are not playing with the slime or incorporating the pets means you've overpaid since that is basically half of the contents. That said I may just get Sunny whenctheyxgo on sale. I have an extra so I can rebody her. The pajama dolls I definitely want and the beach dolls. Sad Poppy isn't there since I love her butterfly esthetic. Definitely need to be a lot more picky next year and slow down, that's my New Years resolution.
In a world ( around early 2000s ) where Barbie was the only idea of fashion doll, I looked for Bratz. In a world where all dolls are pinky and shiny, even if I was a kid now, I would look for shadow high dolls. The market needs variation, because kids are still humans, and humans are very different from each other - even eight years olds. When monster high came out I was already too old for them, and I wasn't a collector either. I just hope they keep some of the grungy path at this point... I have... faith... ugh...
@aisalao7896 yes they made millions cuz the merchandise is overpriced af and for the movie they used nostalgia, lots of sponsorization and pink to induce people to watch it. It's a good movie but it don't deserve all this success. People were curious about the movie so they went to theaters and gave millions to the movie. There's thousands of movies that earned the same but for the plot, quality and without having to ipnotize people
Not me who also spent the most money on rainbow High as well 😅 I also pre ordered them all usually, I only couldn't find violet I also have bought doubles of old dolls to do rebodies so i just need violet and a new body for Skylar and they will be finished i also need bodies for the jr high pajama set but they wont really be able to wear their slippers also rubys pet is razzberry sunnys pet is sunflower
Again, no shade to Elvira queen or any other normal fans of Rainbow High, but it’s really hard for me not to see this rebrand as some kinda karmic punishment against the elitest fans treating MGA as infallable because they care that clothes meant to fit foot-tall pieces of plastic are designer. Still, why is the universe so set on insisting people between toddlers and adulthood don’t exist? I would’ve rioted at that age.
Girls barely play with dolls now u got 10 yr olds running to Sephora for drunk elephant while sipping water out of their Stanley cups lol They need to stick to the collector demographic because they r the ones buying these dolls and kids loved the high fashion good quality
getting rid of some of these dolls they should realize what it well do to some kids i know this myself when i wasa kid we moved around alot plus the guys my mom had as boyfriends was not nice the only thing i remember about each place i lived was what toy or doll i had that i really like ..today kids might be the same way but when they go to buy one of there favorite toys sorry they dont make it anymore how isthat kid going to feel the only thing good in its life gone
Shadow High got me into doll collecting. I collected all the rainbow high and monster high dolls. I got into Barbie when the movie came out. I will not be buying these new rh dolls. They’re decent but nothing about them excite me the same way.
Ok but saying this will sale better with kids and this way the brand can keep going I just don’t believe that monster high did the exact same thing and it didn’t save the brand it killed it it didn’t make more money it lost money rh is doing the same thing I don’t see this making more money it’s just slightly prolonging the brands death
But shadow high was 25 and I’d rather that 😢 but I appreciate you and your hopefulness… you almost got me and they are cute just so like young. So for me this is rainbow high and the old ones are now college age
Honestly? I'm not mad at them. They actually make me kind off nostalgic cause the glitter on the faces reminds me of g3 my little ponys. I think i would've liked them as a child cause anything colorful with long hair immediatly grabbed my attention. While i'll miss what rainbow high used to be, i'm probably still going to buy maybe one or two of the dolls... Alone for the mlp nostalgia
I absolutely hate the glitter on the face but I still love the dolls. Even as a kid I didn't like glitter makeup on dolls. It's never an even coverage, half drops off and it's just an all round chunky looking mess. MGA should save a bit of money and leave the face glitter off. I also don't mind about losing the wrist articulation that much. Just look at all the handless dolls out there coz kids lose them. They should sell spare hands like Mattel used to for Monster High.
I can appreciate your thoughts, however, I am not so sure that children are the biggest collectors of dolls. Many adults are collecting now compared to years ago, and even parents will usually purchase dolls based on what they want; not necessarily on what their children want. I seriously doubt many parents are going to be happy with this slime/glitter factor. Also, paying more for a doll just to get slime and glitter added doesn't make it worth the money. Especially when you are losing articulation, and good quality clothes. I have to respectfully disagree that these dolls are glamourous. I think the clothes are awful and really cheap looking. Possibly the base dolls could be saved and redressed, but spending that kind of money for a doll that I have to try and save; throw away everything else; except possibly the pet, and then see what comes of her; not with it to me at all. I seriously doubt I will get any of them, and will wait to see if MGA comes out with anymore high end dolls. I'm very sad because I loved many of their dolls, but this is just too much change and lessening of quality for me :(
I think about that too. Parents are the one paying money. Not all parents are rich and willing to spend a lot in children toys. Many collectors are buying the whole line. I remember my mother refused to buy me dolls that have a bunch of accessories even I wanted it. Children loves doesn’t equal to parents. Also, I feel like some parents don’t like slime especially when their children are messy.
The new Ruby and Sunny are Eons better than their original dolls and that’s even with me loving series one Ruby I’m on the fence about Amaya. violet is boring and Jade is really pretty I wonder if her hair has a part line. The beach basic Violet however is stunning
These seem like they’re appealing not just to kids but to very YOUNG kids. The previous Rainbow High line seemed like it was aiming for a tween audience, 8-12 year olds who were old enough to be interested in fashion, social media and teen drama, but still young enough to be open to want dolls that resonate with their interests. This seems like someone zeroed in on the word “rainbow” in the title and retooled the line to appeal to the unicorns-and-glitter demographic who are MUCH younger. Basically if the previous RH dolls were aimed at at a 6th grade tween, these are aimed at her 2nd grade little sister.
I was upset but only about the slime i just can't stand slimes it bugs me but i see so much restyle potetial wih the dolls i'd love to see a few people restyle them fix up their hair change up those clothes aside from the glitter goo they are okay they've grown on me since the leaked pictures

Gonna miss shadow high
11:59 I was literally just going to comment that I’m surprised slime is still a thing !! I thought we were past that
I think that Ruby's pet's name is actually Raspberry.
Yes you can put slime in pets heads. Zombiexcorn did that for skyler review
Honestly I like Sunny but the loss articulation is heart breaking
I'm sorry but MOST kid these days could care less about dolls. In my opinion its doll collectors that keep these companies afloat....
I’m sixteen and me and my four sisters buy easily 10 dolls each a year.
You could pain the inside of the shoes and bags and even the pet with acrylic paint and modgepodge to custom color it
good idea!
i love the budget dolls faces more then g1 .. i want them rebody them
Loved your review, so balanced and optimistic as always
I like the OG girls themselves as characters, and their designs too, so I would have like to have one of them
I have all the Rainbow high and Shadow high dolls prior to this unexpected special kind of madness 😠
I.
Love rainbow highdoll
“I would have live laughed love!” 😂😂😂
I think I should get that on a sign
Do kids want fake cell phones, laptops and water bottles?
Mehh, my kids want their dolls to have fashions like theirs so they can dress up together ❤️
And, i collect because I used to be a model...lol
Thats my POV
The new era of Rainbow high
I generally agree with your impressions. The changes are definitely not for me as a middle-aged collector, but I can see why they made them. One thing to consider is that I have heard a lot of collectors, myself included, talking about slowing their purchases and downsizing their collections after binging on the recent oversaturated doll market. However, new kids are coming into doll playing age on a continual basis. My biggest complaint is the glitter on the faces. At least the shine of the older dolls could be removed with acetone, but this glitter is stubborn, from what I've seen.
Eff MGA, Eff Rainbow World, and #justiceforPoppy.... That is all....
Dolls are not primarily for kids, and that thought process is what's gonna kill them
I love the new ruby❤
I agree the glitter placement is off. I wonder why they picked that.
I really like your review! ❤It's so nice to hear a more positive statement on the dolls!😊 I'm actually really excited for them, since I like the more youthful and playful approach and I'm interested to see where the line is going.
The only reason poopsy got disconnected was the slime, I don’t see it going well for Rainbow High. At least that’s my thoughts.
If we have wave one - I don’t see a reason to get the new ones.
Me gustó mucho ruby de rainbow high world ❤
Also with the slime I think the trend is completely dead and mga is just completely ignorant to that fact and are slow and haven’t realized this
I loved the original Rainbow High fashion dolls, and I have no interest in the slime gimmick. That said, I am looking forward to the PJ teen line!. I would absolutely LOVE to see some RH made even smaller like a toddler little sister. 😊
I like the okd rainbowhigh but all changes happy new year
you can put slime in the pet i thought like the forehead are looks like it could open right?
I love rainbow doll
While I get it, I don't feel compelled to purchase these at all. They don't have to cater to me, but at the end of the day if they're not bringing much to the table for collectors collectors are just not going to buy. And that's okay. There are other ways I can spend that money.
Barbie Cutie Reveal there cute but the new ones might give kids nightmares it looks like one ate the other i have two cutie revaels not the one i wanted i wanted the panda
It's just like Barbie getting rid of barbie extra it's crazy
I am surprised that Mattel did, I guess it wasn't doing as well as I thought.
I plan on buy these dolls to play with them and film with them.
I have... faith... ugh...
Wow, the new one look so cheap! 😢
Love them
Is the hair quality the same?
At least mga makes money honestly. I can't say the same for mattel 🤣
There's thousands of movies that earned the same but for the plot, quality and without having to ipnotize people
The budget dolls where I am. They were 35 dollars 🥲 but they were on sale for 19 dollars
What, did Poppy get kicked off?! Okrrrr not happy 😢
We don't know for sure. So far she is not in any images for Rainbow World.
@@TheDollCircle thx I'll keep looking out and checking this site 2❤❤
Again, no shade to Elvira queen or any other normal fans of Rainbow High, but it’s really hard for me not to see this rebrand as some kinda karmic punishment against the elitest fans treating MGA as infallable because they care that clothes meant to fit foot-tall pieces of plastic are designer.
Still, why is the universe so set on insisting people between toddlers and adulthood don’t exist? I would’ve rioted at that age.
👍
And MGA is still making amazing clothes like seen in the newest wave of OMG dolls Pearla and Ace.
Girls barely play with dolls now u got 10 yr olds running to Sephora for drunk elephant while sipping water out of their Stanley cups lol
They need to stick to the collector demographic because they r the ones buying these dolls and kids loved the high fashion good quality
I WANT A POPPY DOLL!
She as a CAT, her dress i amazing and her hair is great.
getting rid of some of these dolls they should realize what it well do to some kids i know this myself when i wasa kid we moved around alot plus the guys my mom had as boyfriends was not nice the only thing i remember about each place i lived was what toy or doll i had that i really like ..today kids might be the same way but when they go to buy one of there favorite toys sorry they dont make it anymore how isthat kid going to feel the only thing good in its life gone
I have three Shadow High dolls and two Rainbow high and one junior Rainbow. So lm done.
Girl…. Ok
Is is true that all the "rebooted" dolls have the same face mold?
i wonder if they are going to do a Luxe line too xx for adult collectors x
Shadow High got me into doll collecting. I collected all the rainbow high and monster high dolls. I got into Barbie when the movie came out. I will not be buying these new rh dolls. They’re decent but nothing about them excite me the same way.
the only one i like is sunny but this is probably the end of me collecting rh if this is the direction they're going
Long Road Of Recovery
A budget line is all good as long as they dont stop the fashion line
I love them!
Poppy, and Bella have been mentioned in the new TikToks that feature Sunny supreme, so I’m assuming that they are coming in wave 2
Basically if the previous RH dolls were aimed at at a 6th grade tween, these are aimed at her 2nd grade little sister.
love those dolls
It from kids
You have to unscrew the pet’s head to put the slime in it lol
Oh 😆
Original Ruby is much better she is sooo beautiful
I want the old ones back I think I am the only kid who likes the old ones........
THESE STUPID PETS ARE SO UGLY
BRING POPPY BACK
So it begins, they always start out well then go cheap by removing features.
HI DOLL CIRCLE IJUST GOT RAINBOW HIGH DOLL FANTASTIC FASHON SKYLER BRADSHAW
I was upset but only about the slime i just can't stand slimes it bugs me but i see so much restyle potetial wih the dolls i'd love to see a few people restyle them fix up their hair change up those clothes aside from the glitter goo they are okay they've grown on me since the leaked pictures
So i expect, MGA come back to first version.......
The head pulls off of the pet, and then you can fill it with slime
Whoops, I am not good with the slime portion. I figured but next time I will read through the paper 😆
